Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods talktod 3/1/12 9:30 AM
Further to the already posted replies, I thought I would give more detailed instructions for those who may not be too technically minded.

To remove Funmoods from Google Chrome
First of all go to Control Panel, "Add Remove" Programs for XP, or Control Panel, then Programs and Features for Windows 7.Look for
"Funmoods" and uninstall it.
Open a Chrome browser window, Left-click the spanner (or wrench if you use the American name), top right of the browser
window.Move cursor down to "Tools".Left-click, "Extensions". On the left under basics left-click "Basics", beside the "Homepage" section,
if you find "Funmoods" here, delete it, and for now, above this, left click, "Use The New Tab" Page and you are finished on this bit.
Now look down the "Basics" page for the "Search" section and left-click, "Manage Search Engines".
Under "Default search options", hover your curser on the "Funmoods" entry and an x should appear to the right edge of it.Left-click the
x and it should remove it from the list.
Finally, Just check that your search results are no longer being given by "Funmoods".
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods carolyn9371 3/3/12 4:54 AM
Thank you to talktod for giving such a clear, precise set of instructions for us untechnical people.  Followed your instructions and am now free of the dreadful "Funmoods" search engine.

Just to say re the hovering over the Funmoods in the Default Search Options section - the x didn't appear until I realised that I had to change the default setting away from Funmoods to Google, then the x appeared and I could get rid of it.

Also had to get rid of Funmoods in my computer settings.  Went into tools, clicked Manage Add Ons, clicked Search Providers and there was Funmoods disabled but still the default setting.  Changed default setting to Google and could then delete Funmoods.
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods kyproula88 3/3/12 9:58 AM
Ok, now that we now how to remove it, does anyone know how it was added on our browsers? The latest things I have installed are the Adobe updates and a codec to strea video content, like Flash player. None of which pertained any details about installing or using Funmoods. Where the eff did it come from?
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods chipjgf 3/7/12 3:29 PM
Great job talktod ... I spent too much time on this, but your steps cleared it out.  Thanks for reminding us we have to check ti make sure it is gone.

I got this Monster "funmoods" AKA "suckmoods"  when I went to their  website when I was searching for images.

I even went back to their website and they just tell you to uninstall ... that didn't work.

I guess it's a legimate site but with aggressive software that installs it.

Why didn't MS or Google Chrome provide an alert and prevent it from being automatically installed.

If we could bill all the vendors $15 per hour for our time to remove their crxp, these problems would end.
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods No More Badmoods 3/14/12 9:52 PM
Just adding to this.
It was driving me crazy as well.Removed programs etc.etc.

After you click on the wrench
And are in Options Basic(chrome://settings/browser)-click on Manage Search Engines button . Your Default will be that sneaky bastard Funmoods and is called "Search" (chrome://settings/searchEngines)It was for me the last entry in the Default Search Engines
Again-It will be listed as your default. After you make Google your default- Move the cursor down to the Funmoods or "Search" as it likes to be called and An X will be on the right side of it. Delete or close it and presto! Gone! That Funmoods is the the cyber equivalent of having bed bugs! No more bad moods for me!!! :-)Hahahaha!!!Good F-ing riddance!Hope this helps.

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods chzburgr 3/21/12 3:50 PM
I have tried multiple times to remove it from firefox,  I went and changed home page, deleted it at control panel and removed the add on.  If I press home page I get google as I like it.  If I type a search term into the address bar I get funmoods.
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods chzburgr 3/21/12 3:51 PM
I got it when I downloaded VLC Player

Hi,

I'm reading this at work. Got 'Dumbmoods' on my new computer at home. I went to get something on the net and "blammo!". I looked at the wrecch thing and it is not list as an add-on. Went to programs and it's not listed as a program.

I know it didn't come on the new computer as I used search engines w/o issue before getting hit. I'll try again this evening.

Running latest Chrome, Fireox, and IE on Windows 7 Professional

Thank you SO much! I'm finally rid of that terrible default browser and back to my lovely Google.
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods dinci 6/4/12 1:16 PM
Thanks man....finally i found solution to remove this crap software....my firefox is taking 550 mb of ram with that crap....
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods BluefireWeb 6/14/12 3:08 PM
Oh my God this thing is so horrible.   I already went through the previously mentioned steps.....and although I did change my internet options so Google was my start page....if I click 'new window' its the Funmoods page.

FYI I don't use Google Chrome I prefer Firefox.   But funmoods doesn't even appear in my add/remove programs list now.   The instructions that seem to solve this for Google Chrome users have been fruitless with Firefox.

This whole outfit is such a huge scam.   This is what is known as a 'rootkit' which basically parks itself in your registry.  From what I hear its nothing threatening...I ran several virus checks and no threats are found....nevertheless its still launching my Firefox window and there is nothing I can do about getting rid of it

A Firefox solution would be appreciated

bluefir...@gmail.com

any bullet point advice would be welcome to get rid of this ugly bitch.

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods uggy 6/15/12 3:27 AM
We tested Funmoods on various web browsers and systems. I cant understand why developers who try to do legitimate products, do such things. On some versions we were unable to find the easy uninstall from the system.
Even if you remove the game, reinstall chrome you still have some things on the system. For example searchbar still redirects to funmoods search.
Automated solutions works best. MalwareBytes Anti-Malware should handle the problem. Spyhunter would fix that, but it is paid.

here is the video from funmoods - Chrome Uninstall Tutorial:

For more information funmoods tram can assist at: te...@funmoods.com.

Ask help in forums, they will fix that remotely for free.

I just want to know why Funmoods is FORCED on us and it waste a tremendous amount of time trying to totally get rid of it.,
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods Sie_Deen 7/3/12 2:16 PM
For folks who are new to this thread, the change you observed is usually caused by a 3rd party program that you may have installed. Some of these programs will install other programs/extensions/toolbars that changes your browser's settings instead (i.e. homepage, default search engine, start up pages, etc). If your settings have been changed, please make sure to check the following:
  • If unfamiliar pages are opening up each time you start up Chrome, check in Wrench Settings On Startup > next to the radio button for Open a specific page or set of pages, click on Set pages > remove any unwanted URLs by hovering over the URL until you see an "X" appear to the right side of the URL.
  • If all searches that you perform in the omnibox are returning with results from a different search engine instead of your preferred search engine, check in Wrench Settings Search Manage search engines > check the list of Default search enginesOther search engines, and Search engines added by extensions, and remove suspicious entries that you are not familiar with. Depending on your extensions, you may not see the last section for Search engines added by extensions.
    • To remove an unfamiliar search engine, make sure you select your preferred search engine first, and then remove the unfamiliar option.
  • If an unfamiliar page opens up when you click on the Home button, check in Wrench Settings Appearance > select the Show Home button checkbox > check the URL below it.
  • Also check that there are no extensions installed that may be causing these changes. Go to Wrench Settings Extensions > if you see any unfamiliar extension that you do not remember installing, try disabling/removing the extension to see it was causing these changes. To disable, uncheck the "Enabled" checkbox next to the extension. To remove, hover over the extension until you see a trash can icon appear, and click on the icon.
If you do not remember installing any FunMoods specific software around the time that this change took place, it is advisable to perform a malware scan to make sure that there are no other suspicious programs remaining that could make changes to your settings.

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods writechick 8/3/12 10:48 AM
I had to uninstall Google Chrome because of the malware FUNMOODS WEB SEARCH hijacking my beloved search engine. Warning, I got the virus by searching for a Winzip unzip program on CNET. The first one that came up was at a site called DOWNLOADSTER.ORG, I clicked it, once on the site I downloaded 7zip which was their winzip software. Voila, in the middle of installing the 7zip software, Google Chrome crashed. When I brought it back up and did a search on Downloadster to see if it was safe, my search terms were replaced by FUNMOODS WEB SEARCH which was landing on some unwanted ish, and also made my Google Chrome basically useless as a search mechanism. I had to Uninstall Google Chrome, as system restore from an earlier point did not get rid of the malware, nor did restore Google Chrome with an earlier version. Plus the malware did not show up in my programs or anywhere else. So I could not delete it! In fact, it would come up on a list via my system restore as a program that would not be affected by the restore! Be careful surfing out there. I am now using the dreaded Microsoft Explorer/Bing search engine. Yuck! But it is working fine. I wonder if they are involved in this to get us to quit Google Chrome.
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods soxon 8/6/12 3:18 AM
Experiencing same sort of issues. Did restore etc, re-installed Chrome, brings up blank Chrome page, try to log in via wrench - zilch!
Was fine before all this nonsense with FUNMOODS. Really want my Chrome back! Strangely when I try the Windows problem solver it tells me I'm using XP rather than 7 and is incompatible!!  Please can somebody tell me how to get my Chrome back ?

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods RBland3 8/13/12 7:12 PM
I think I got this funmoods crap after downloading a "free file viewer". I've tried everything to get rid of it..and since I don't have Chrome instaled, none of those solutions worked...but one thing seemed to work...

Go to START >
search for Funmoods
make sure to set the earch Location for EVERYTHING,

and check the box to include non-indexed hidden, system and all files!

You can set a search parameter (I chose date created before TODAY)..
and "any" size.

It may take several minutes to search completely.

When all the funmoods results showed up,.
I hit SHRED ( I have Verizon Security and the SHRED option was perfect for this!)

After shredding,  choose everything in the list and right click for Delete.

Then, go to the recycle bin and permanently delete all instances.

Run the search again..Funmoods should be all gone.

To be sure, run a Malware search and clean..I chose Search&Destroy, and Malwarebytes...that did it!

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods sdrunr 8/26/12 11:59 AM
This finally worked for me too. I had changed the home page, default browser, and removed the funmoods extensions, but the sneaky bastards had put something into the speed-dial extension as well.

Get rid of the speed dial extension to rid yourself of this parasitic crapware for good.

Now, how do we exact revenge on the company? This is worse than SPAM and should be illegal!

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods rbowman1234 8/26/12 2:59 PM
I was still having Funmoods show up every time I opened a tab. Under the Extensions section of tools, there was a "default Tab" extension. this was the culprit.

In order to remove, you have to uninstall "DefaultTab" and "DefaultTab for Chrome," then go to extensions and disable and delete "default Tab."

Hey, everyone -
I reinstalled Windows a coupla days ago and Funmoods found me before I could even get updates.  Here's a link to a thread on SpywareInfo that might be helpful.  Getting it out of Chrome is not the same as getting it out of your PC!  Well, it looks like I can't create a link, so here's the text anyway.  You should be able to paste it into your browser.  I think Funmoods is gone now.

I can't find basics, where is it on windows 7?
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods Mellorap 9/4/12 1:46 PM
The only thing that worked with Windows 7 was doing a line by line search in the registry and removing all instances of FUNMOODS. Type regedit in search from the start button. Click on the Computer icon and click on the Find selection or click CTRL + F to launch the find utility. Type FUNMOODS in this box and hit enter. delete any instances of funmoods and continue through the registry by clicking on the F3 button. BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO DELETE REGISTRY ENTRIES NOT CONTAINING FUNMOODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods Geem 9/12/12 5:48 AM
So did I...so have to advise against VLC Player... it worked, so I was happy...until this "Funmoods" hit.  If there are any good hackers out there, can you destroy both VLC and Funmoods?  Of course, this also happened because Microsoft products are terrible...I should never have "lost" my DVD driver from Windows?  How is it that it can "see" my DVD's name and files…but then says it can't play them because there's no driver?

I found this tutorial the most helpful.
Be sure to complete the steps for ALL of the browsers.  I only use CHROME, but I found the funmoods crap on IE and Foxfire as well.  I've had zero issues with funmoods since completing this.

It took me about 15 minutes total after hours of trying many of the other suggestions.

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods Vince Wiliams 9/27/12 11:15 AM
Only thing that finally worked for me was to go to the FunMoods page (new tab)  and select the settings cog icon on the blue bar top right, then select uninstall FunDial.  Then Funmoods was gone and I got my Chrome back!!

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods singingewe 9/30/12 10:30 AM
I simply deleted google chrome and reinstalled. Although this would only work well if you have a gmail/ google account so your bookmarks and history are saved. I couldn't uninstall the funmoods program because it did not show up in my programs and features search (windows 7). This is only if it does not show up in the extensions either.
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods katiezee2 10/1/12 11:49 PM

Although I suffered the funmoods on IE, not Chrome, this may help.
After uninstalling and deleting it everywhere I could find it,  it took 'Dr.Web Cure-it' (free}
to locate  and kill the hidden remaining parts of it, identified as a virus,  after I thought I had   gotten rid of all of it.

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods sbodea43 10/5/12 1:26 PM
I followed the instructions and ran the search. I just got a whole list of my Genealogy files! I tried something else earlier through Chrome settings that may have removed my funmoods when I went into tool bar and removed that and made Google my default search engine. Previously, I ran Spybot and Malwarebytes and neither of these removed it. I certainly wish there was someway to see this in files that are downloading so it doesn't appear again. The one thing I hate about Windows 7 is the results of search never come up like they did under XP. The results on XP were more accurate. Windows 7 brings up all kinds of unrelated files.

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods Th. Chandos 10/20/12 9:29 AM
My experience was similar, but problem wasn't with VLC per se.  It was the LAME encoder that for legal reasons can't be packaged with Audacity©, have to get it elsewhere.  Guess VLC incorporates something similar to keep kosher.  When I went 'Elsewhere', I got careless & clicked on the (very very) wrong link, executed it & have been dealing with no-fun since September.

Got it out of Firefox with MalwareBytes, delving into the Place Where Dragons Dwell, NTM regedit on Win7.  Then it showed up in G-Cr.  It's always something, keep a good thought, we're all in this together.

If you can see the DVD off the disc drive, maybe you can regain playability with DivX - it's been okay on my old XPpro32b-Sp3.

Glück!

i used malware bytesand ran the scan and it had the funmoods virus and cleared them.  I also went to settings in google chrome and then click on extensions, you cant see it unless you read it really well but one of those will be funmoods and delete it.  Also just to be sure remove search engines and remove funmoods if still there.

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods Liz Carroll 11/2/12 8:29 AM
To those who claim they got this through VLC, did you actually go to the VLC website to download the player? I use VLC and hadn't had anything like this before; but right after I downloaded something off Cnet I noticed it had installed itself on my PC..

This isn't the first time I've got a nasty file through downloading something off Cnet..

Watch out for any file that wants you to use Softonic Downloader. Last time I used that I ended up with a Malware infestation and the file was MSN Messenger from the Microsoft Website!

All the searches I did seem to be advertising Spy Hunter, which is good and will detect it but won't remove it unless you have the paid version.

The free version of Super Anti Spyware will remove it

paid version of SpyHunter did not do the trick, neither did free version of SpyBot, but I found Funmoods hiding inside a Facebook Chat program I do not recall downloading, I uninstalled that, got a huge glaring, ugly message about why I SHOULD NOT uninstall that program and I did anyway and like magic the FunMoods tab on my google chrome disappeared. finally!
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods katiezee2 11/12/12 5:54 PM
Having suffered this, advisuing of a way to locate the hidden files of funmoods is to do a 'search everywhere' in Windows Explorer. There  it hits 'funmoods' as part of a file name, as well as disguised file names,  hits one won't get with a search for 'funmoods-dot-com.

I also had luck with Dr.Web"cureit' {free}. When it identified funmoods as a virus I wrote to the funmoods people, expressing my disgust at their underhanded, sleezy practice of involuntary installation.
I had the browser set to reject such attempts of take-over as default, which funmoods somehow bypassed.   They responded with double-talk nonsense, denying it is a virus, blahblahblah.
Bad karma to them.

Hey Nan, thanks for your help. If you are a member of Funmood support team, you should know that this "funmood" thing is VERY annoying, and on behalf of all of have suffered from the consequences of its unsolicited installation, I appreciate putting some controls over it.

Actually, I did everything you said here, but funmood search engine would still appear whenever I opened a new tab.  Also, everything will simply go back to how it was whenever I restarted the browser.

Therefore, I just used a software called "malwarebytes," which helped me to get rid of the software.  It is recommended that the process you mentioned be made after performing a full scan by this software and deleting funmood files .

I was having problems with a new tab in Chrome opening up the Funmoods search page as well. Malwarebytes didn't work in removing it for me. I had to go to Settings>Extensions and then deleting the Funmoods extension.

Thank you CNET. I suppose you have to make money somehow but what a pain in the buttocks.

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods Santacruz 11/19/12 6:45 AM
Dear Smileygreg,

1.  I use Google Chrome on my Win 7 (64) system -- with Norton Security suites on duty and usually doing a good job.

2.  Yesterday I downloaded a couple of highly recommended "mind map" freebies from CNET.  This may or may not be connected with my problem.

3.  This morning that cursed "Funmoods" trash is back -- when I open a new tab in Chrome, Funmoods is what I find waiting rather than my preferred new-tab app.

4.  In settings > extensions, I deleted one funmoods booby trap.  I didn't find any other traces in my search engines list or anywhere else.  But, it reloaded itself with Chrome reload.

5.  I checked my add/remove programs list -- and it did not appear there (as in past occurrences of this disastrous annoyance) -- (these pricks don't know how much they are harming our society -- or have sense enough to care)

6.  I ran Malwarebytes and found 249 instances of "Funmoods" (ironic name), each preceded by a long code which included the word "PUP" -- I had Malwarebytes delete these and rebooted.  On loading Chrome, my problem remained.

7.  I then ran "regedit" and removed every instance of "funmoods" -- about 50 of them.  Rebooted.  Still no joy.  And, there is still no indication of its presence when examining the various Chrome settings.

8.  Do you have any suggestions?  How I would love to punch those miscreants in their childish, hateful, runny noses. (please excuse the outburst, but they sure don't make a hard job any easier for me).

Do you have any advice?

Thanks, so much, for being there and for caring.  You guys are the best -- and matter, greatly!!!!!

NAN,

I am glad to see that there is a real person behind the nefarious program.  I appreciate your trying to explain how to make it go away.  I didn't see your instructions until I wrote to "Smileygreg" this morning, for some help.  Your kind responsiveness changes my view, somewhat, concerning your company's behavior.  But, it still has an extremely harmful and unfair affect on me (and lots of others) and I wish, to God, you all would cut it out.

Here is the text of what I wrote, before I realized there might be someone in your organization who is trying to work with us.  So, if you can endure my emotional outbursts (of someone who is experiencing real pain in all of this), maybe this might help you to help us.  I now know that I am talking to a human being.  Please advise what to do to fix and avoid future awesome timecosts.

Thank you

Hi Nan

I have tried all of that and the Funmoods icon still appears on the bottom left side of my home page along with the Funmoods search engine on the top middle part of the page. I have also re-installed chrome and rebooted. I don't know what to do anymore

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods emanuel galvan 11/22/12 7:42 AM
I have same problem but in vista can you help me
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods Santacruz 11/22/12 9:17 AM
Emanuel -- here is a response to me from CNET -- apparently I didn't turn "Funmoods" off when I downloaded several programs from them.  I've been hit before, a few months ago, and didn't fully rid myself till I tried most of the following, back then -- AND searched my registry (via run>regedit) and removed all instances of "funmoods" found -- AND cleared the rest, via Malwarebytes (a fabulous free helper to other Security programs)

The following may be sufficient, with special emphasis on the "New Tabs" app in Chrome>settings>extensions (which fixed the final, lingering legacy).  Good luck.

=== FROM CNET ===
In testing this, our Product Management Team found that the following steps should completely remove Funmoods from Chrome.

To remove Funmoods start page from your browser's home page:

1. Click on the Options drop-down menu in the top-right of the browser.
2. Select "Settings".
3. Under "On startup" select either "Open the New Tab page" or set to "Continue where I left off" or set a custom home page(s) by selecting "Open a specific page or set of pages" the clicking "Set pages".

To remove Funmoods from your browser's search engines:

1. Click on the Options drop-down menu in the top-right of the browser.
2. Select "Settings".
3. In the "Search" section choose "Google" or your preferred search engine in the drop-down menu.

To remove Funmoods search from new tabs on your browser:

1. Click on the Options drop-down menu in the top-right of the browser.
2. Select "Settings" then "Extensions".
3. Click the trash bin icon next to the New Tab extension to remove it.

However, it sounds like you may have tried most or all of these steps with no luck - can you please confirm if that is the case?

It also sounds like you probably inadvertently accepted a Funmoods offer within the CNET Download.com Installer. In future, if you do not wish to use the CNET Download.com Installer, you always have the option of using the "Direct Download Link" instead. All products on CNET Download.com have a direct download link, but only "CNET Installer Enabled" products call it out separately.

Depending on your browser and the specific product you are looking at, you can find the "Direct Download Link" in one of three places on the page for CNET Installer Enabled items:

- Right underneath the green "Download Now" button

- By mousing over the green "Download Now" button in order to see and click the "Direct Download Link" in a pop-up bubble

- By mousing over the blue "CNET Installer Enabled" text in the "Quick Specifications" column to the right side of the product page to see and click the "Direct Download Link" in a pop-up bubble

You also have the option to turn off the Installer for the whole site, though you do currently need to have a CNET account and be logged in to take advantage of that feature. To do so, login to the site, click the "My profile" link and then the "Update my Download.com Preferences" link, select the "Off" option and click the "Save Changes" button.

You can read more about the Installer here:

This is all well and good but want to completely get rid of funmoods which is hiding somewhere. I managed to get rid of the toolbar and removed it from my list of search engines but still shows up. I can not find it in my computer to get rid all together. I think it is disgusting that we all got this stupid virus type thing when downloading something updates or other sites. So can you tell me where it is hiding in my computer and its name so i can delete it for good
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods Santacruz 11/24/12 11:34 AM
Did you do these things?

I've been hit by "funmoods" before, a few months ago, and didn't fully rid myself till I tried the various things people mentioned here and elsewhere --- AND -- the following, which I figured out for myself:

1.  Download a free copy of MALWAREBYTES (an anti-malicious software program) which catches things other programs miss.  I found (and deleted) 249 instances of "funmoods" -- which also included with it the word "PUP"which Norton Security Suite had missed.  (

This shouldn't be a hassle, for MALWAREBYTES is an excellent piece to add to your security tools, anyway) -- for inevitable special hassles.

2.  Clean the Windows registry to remove all instances of "funmoods" which load behind the scenes (carefully -- don't remove anything else -- triple-check your deletions -- or you will go to a new level of hassle).

Go to "Start > run > regedit."  Then use "Find" to search for "funmoods" and delete every instance found -- I got rid of around 50 more of the bad stuff, which loaded on every reboot, till I got rid of them.

3.  This final step, CNET taught me the other day -- for I still had "funmoods" replacing my "new tab" pages in the Chrome browser (even after doing 1 and 2, above).

It's kinda sneaky and easy to miss.  Here's where it is.  Go to Chrome's "settings > extensions" and go down the list and find the words "New Tab."  If you look carefully, you might see (as I did) in the description of the so-called "New Tab" the word "funmoods."  Delete that "new tabs" extension.

At least that got rid of the final apparent legacy of this terrible time-wasting involuntary intrusion into my daily routine.  I don't see why this wouldn't work for you, as well, Vmallalieu.

Good luck

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods Santacruz 11/24/12 11:41 AM
IT WOULD SURE BE NICE IF "FUNMOODS" INCLUDED AN UNINSTALLER.  Clearly all of this is hurting their company's reputation -- and they seem to being trying to do a good thing -- but which is back-firing.

I learned that I accidentally installed it when I downloaded a program I wanted from CNET.  There was a check-box that had to be specifically unchecked to prevent the intrusion.  In my careless haste, I didn't notice -- I was too quick to get my desired download underway and thought all of that stuff was the usual verbiage.

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods vmallalieu 11/24/12 2:42 PM

I found found that thanks Which is the best web site to get MALWAREBYTES from i have just had a look and there is a hell of a lot and would like a trusted one. Also i got mine from downloading an adobe update.

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods Santacruz 11/24/12 7:50 PM
Here is the link to MALWAREBYTES:  http://www.malwarebytes.org/  If you can't find it again, in the future, just Google it -- it'll probably be the first answer you'll get.

Choose the free option and off you go.  Enjoy.  It's a real fine and handy program whenever you need extra horsepower against the evil ones that plague us.

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods Santacruz 11/24/12 8:05 PM
... er... not that I'm saying "funmoods" is evil and meant to create ill will and do harm.  I was impressed by the guts of "NAN" who stood up for her company and tried to help us sort it all out.

It helped me see that, technically, they were not at fault -- we have to be careful about our downloading not to approve something we don't want.

My harsh words against them was in anger and frustration at all the time I was losing playing Micky Spillane -- and coming here and seeing all the other folks losing time -- society doesn't need its resources squandered -- they're too scarce.

I URGE THEM TO CONSIDER PROVIDING AN "uNINSTALLER."  If they do, they might find people less likely to resent them --- and allow us to see them as a good company which just might be offering something useful and worth a fair evaluation.

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods Liz Carroll 11/24/12 9:57 PM
I usually am very careful about programs I download.. I wrongly assumed that something I downloaded off Cnet would be safe.. The fact is, I didn't even get an option to NOT download Fun Moods, if I had I would never had downloaded it..

I understand that some companies give you the option to download a toolbar/extension, whatever but they usually give you an option to not download it.

The fact of the matter is, Fun Moods ended up on my PC and all I did was download something off Cnet. This to me is invasive and malicious software.

Also, it invaded all of my browsers including Ie which I never use.

The fact that they have to use such underhanded tactics to get their software out there, suggests that they are not a good company and have nothing to offer..

I am not interested in smiley faces for Facebook, nor am I interested in another useless toolbar.

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods vmallalieu 11/25/12 9:56 AM
21 cases of funmoods found by doing an anti-malware scan. And the people who work for funmoods cant understand why we are getting annoyed. It would not surprise me if funmoods is owned by an anti-malware company

Hi all these results look good, but they didn't work for me.
In Firefox type in about:config and search for URL then keywords, make sure this is not pointing to funmood, if so change it to your normal search engine. Or better yet and easier reset Firefox after backing up settings. Look at Mozila help it's all there.
Chrome is a pain, make sure it is not opening secondary tab as mine was for funmoods.

Run a registry cleaner on everything, then I am afraid the best thing to do is run regedit and look for funmood and delete each key manually, do back up registry first. There really is no other way as even after running Iobit, Malbytes and ccleaner there was still a lot of funmood in the the registry.

If I get hold of funmoods they will all becone eunochs very fast.

Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods vmallalieu 12/16/12 12:32 PM
Your advice did not work for myself and many others and i had to download a anti malware after running that I found 21 cases of funmoods hid all over the place I did not ask or want it and you put it there while i was downloading a adobe flash update. Next time try giving usfull information instead of rubbish

if you use google chrome go to the costomize and control google chrome button then click on settings. next click on the extentions button that is above the settings button on the left side of that page. you will see the word funmoods next to a search engine pic. delete it and its gone!!!!
i put this because the other suggestions had nothing to do with my problem. goodluck and dont throw the computer at the wall if you get frustrated!

We need official technical advice from google.

in Chrome and FFox look at all the search engine settings and remove funmode.
MAlwarebites did not remove this dreadful application so I resorted to using a regeditor (regedit) and searched for Funmodes and deleted every instance of it. only do so after backing up registry. then reboot pc and all gone.
Advice from Funmode on removal was laughable and had no effect whatsoever.
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods JasonMcGrathLaw 1/8/13 4:43 AM
My Funmoods was hidden in a Chrome extension called "New Tab 5.1" and a search of my "C" drive found 2 folders called "Funmoods" and 2 independent Funmood files in the AppData area. To put it mildly, I dislike these people for wasting my time. I'm running Windows 8.
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods JasonMcGrathLaw 1/8/13 4:44 AM
Oh, and also, one of the Funmood files did say "Speeddial", so that's an indication that they hide it in that Chrome extension as well.
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods Chapeau 1/11/13 6:20 AM

Right for those struggling to get rid of this after removing funmoods as directed, do the following:

1) Go to your Google account settings and click Account.

2) Go to the Dashboard to see all data stored in your account.

3) Scroll down to Chrome sync section and click  - Stop sync and delete data from Google

4) Reinstall Chrome and voila, funmoods is gone

:)

First of all I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. I want to reassure you, this software is by no means a virus or malicious software.

From search engine:
go to Tools > Internet Options > on “Search” section click on “Settings” > select “Live Search” or “Google” or “Bing” and  click on “Set Default” > select “Search” and click on “Remove” > OK > OK

New tab (Internet Explorer 8-9)

If that was true this thread would not be as long. All here have done what you said and still have had it myself being 1 of them. After deleting it and then deleting chrome then re-installing it I still found it in certain programs eventually it was an anti malware program i downloaded got rid of it after running it many times.
Re: i can't get rid of all asspects of funmoods Alexis Jenkins 7/28/13 5:24 AM
Let me apologize again for any misunderstandings.
As stated above uninstalling the software from the control panel will remove the program from your computer, meaning you will no longer be able to use the emoticons on your facebook chat. The homepage, search and toolbar are add-ons, therefore they won't be removed when you uninstall from the control panel and require you to reset these settings.

We provide a complete guide on how to uninstall FunMoods at: http://FunMoods.com/english/faq#a with step-by-step explanations to delete it not only from the PC but also from the homepages, the browsers and the tabs.

Users do not need any antivirus to uninstall the program. FunMoods is used by over 10 million people worldwide and is completely safe & secure.  Moreover, there is no third party software involved in the installation and use of FunMoods.
