Google Chrome version (type in about:version into the address bar):not sure how to get this but i downloaded this last week

|Re: When i open facebook, and try to post a comment I can't. It's as if the button is not working. All the buttons aren't.||curegirl||3/8/10 10:06 AM|
Google chrome has been acting up on facebook ever since they started messing with it.I cant send gifts on apps& can't bank money from certain apps.Friends don't show up when trying to send gifts.Nothing happens when I click on links to send gifts,bank or just do stuff on most apps after clicking app buttons.Messages dont show up in the facebook inbox .I thought it was my cursor but I tried FireFox and it worked fine.The problem with Firefox is that it is SLOW,I can't have more than one tab/window open,it freezes up too much ..it's nerve racking.I don't think it's anything on my end as I always clear cookies/data.Any ideas?:)
The apps affected are Farmville.Mobsters,Vampire Wars(completely messed up,Treasure Island,SuperHeroCity(doesn't load),FarmTown(doesn't load) & a few others Ive noticed issues with in the last few weeks..

I have the same problem, can't change status, post anything on my friends' wall, poke, RVSP to events, nothing! I unistalled and installed Chrome back but is still not working.
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
|buzzlightyear||5/1/10 1:47 AM|
I'm also having trouble posting comments on facebook. It goes to this url http://www.facebook.com/ajax/ufi/modify.php and the response page is blank. This has been happening for the last couple of days.
|buzzlightyear||5/4/10 7:56 AM|
It seems to have corrected itself, maybe facebook was changing code?
|McNevin||5/8/10 11:24 AM|
I'm getting issues with facebook and chrome, I too am seeing http://www.facebook.com/ajax/ufi/modify.php
When posts are collapsed, when I click the link to 'veiw all comments', it goes to the above page i mentioned, which is blank. Works fine in firefox.
|ptamzz||5/13/10 4:42 AM|
I've the same problem. Maybe facebook is revamping their codes but i encounter them only when the internet line is extremely slow.
|awilder1||5/18/10 8:29 PM|
I'm having this same Issue: I'm getting issues with facebook and chrome, I too am seeing http://www.facebook.com/ajax/ufi/modify.php
|bapymii||5/22/10 1:54 AM|
when i like something on facebook or comment somethg.
it goes to this *http://www.facebook.com/ajax/ufi/modify.php*
when i refresh it , it say something whats purchase... ...
Are this means that start from now ,facebook wants to charge $$ for "like" and "comment"??
|Manunju||5/22/10 2:02 AM|
Having the same problem...since this morning...http://www.facebook.com/ajax/ufi/modify.php...and nothing functions on FB....
|Pooshhead||5/22/10 2:56 AM|
I'm having the same problem since early this morning.I'm going to try Firefox
|Manunju||5/22/10 5:33 AM|
...people say Firefox causes other hassles....slowing things down etc... Please Pooshhead, post a report here thx!!
|Pooshhead||5/22/10 7:19 AM|
Hi Manuju Well the Facebook problem seems to be solved. As for your question about Firefox, it's good for going on webpages when Internet Explorer isn't working, but it IS slow. Also There doesn't seem to be a way to add or transfer your Favourites list from Internet Explorer or to use your Outlook Express e-mail system. Hope that helps.
|Manunju||5/22/10 8:43 AM|
Thank you very much for the valuable information Pooshhead, I really did not know all this!
...and yes - Facebook is ok now...still wonder what was going on though...
|Pooshhead||5/22/10 11:23 AM|
Hi back You're welcome. About what was up with Facebook I don't know. Thought crossed my mind that it was hacked.
|afbyrnes||6/25/10 7:55 PM|
I'm still having problems using facebook. It is still not letting me comment or send links? How did you all get your fixed?
|AgressiveInliners||7/21/10 3:02 PM|
Mine is not working either. I keep having to use IE to post anything on facebook.
|sarah.natividad||7/21/10 6:42 PM|
I can't get Facebook pages to load in Chrome at all, any page from Facebook. I can get my "home" page to load in Firefox but nothing else, and when I comment it looks like the comment got lost (but it doesn't). And it does the same in IE as in Facebook.
|sarah.natividad||7/21/10 6:43 PM|
Sorry that should be "in Firefox" not "in Facebook" there at the end, but it won't let me edit my entry except to delete it.
|holtwebb||7/26/10 8:31 AM|
I'm having sporadic problems using Facebook in Chrome, too. I comment on a person's message and sometimes the "send" button works and sometimes it doesn't. Very frustrating.
I know the internet is a huge animal and app designers are coming up with new code all the time, so I understand how difficult it must be to make a browser compatible with everything in such an ever-changing world. But there are simply TOO MANY problems with Chrome for it to even be considered being released yet. It's a tough decision... do you release Chrome before it's ready and risk developing a bad reputation, or do you wait until you've made it more stable and run the risk of being left behind? For all its good stuff, I think Chrome might be doing Google a disservice by coming out when it's not ready.
It seems that, as internet technology and computers improve, the compatibility of everything decreases. Gate's Law, maybe?
|Kikastrophe||7/30/10 1:22 PM|
I can't click buttons. I type a status, and the "share button doesn't work" When I load a movie, the initial click starts it, but I can't click any of the buttons from that point. i can't post comments. Everything works in firefox. I have reinstalled Java and Flash.
|maksha||7/31/10 1:19 AM|
I had the same issue. Facebook in Chrome suddenly don't work at all. I can't click any Facebook AJAX 'button'. Application on user's profile's Tab isn't showing either.
The thing is... there's no problem when browsing Facebook using Firefox.
|Dave in NC||8/13/10 6:40 PM|
All of a sudden, since yesterday, can't post anything to FB. Was working fine until then. Can view the news feed and my own profile, but can't post any comments nor anything for that matter.
When I right click on the 'share' button in FB, it says that this page is not properly encrypted and page is not recognized or something like that. No idea how to change or allow this to bypass......never had this happen.....
|Dave in NC||8/13/10 6:41 PM|
And BTW, IE8 works fine, so I'm thinking it must have something to do with Chrome only.......but I changed nothing!
|.Wid||8/19/10 5:03 AM|
Just got the same problem as everyone else yesterday. The day before, everything worked fine and now suddenly I can't post any comments, can't post update status, can't Like, etc.
I'm using v 5.0.375.126

|Nour7||9/6/10 12:57 AM|
hi,, same thing happening to me ,, can't comment on my friends photos ,,confirm or ignore applications ,, i updated google chrome yesterday ,, but still nothing going on,,
|Mulder1981||9/12/10 1:12 PM|
I experience the same problem with Facebook intermittently.
Cant post comments, "Like" things, or status updates, etc.
When Facebook "breaks" with Chrome, then I also find that Chrome doesnt not display websites properly, such as Youtube, or lovemoney, Yahoo, so not just small random websites!
Running Windows 7.
Also in the previous version of Chrome when it didnt display websites properly, I had the option of sending a screenshot and notifying Google of the issue through a menu option but I cant find this anymore.
Any idea what is causing these issues, how to fix them, and when Google will have Chrome properly ready!
Forget any fancy add ons or other features of Chrome, get to display Youtube, Yahoo, and other websites and working with Facebook 100% of the time!
|csigsrfan||10/12/10 11:00 PM|
I had this some problem thought it was my dial up but I cleared the data history(everything) and it works
|david.king||10/13/10 7:54 AM|
@All. http://www.facebook.com/ajax/ufi/modify.php is the address that handles comments and other features through Facebook when you try to submit some data (a status, a comment..). To stop it sticking on that page:
1. Clear your cache and other data (Ref 1).
2. If that doesn't solve the problem:
- Start | Run (or search for run if you're using Vista/7)
- Type 'cmd' (without quotes) and hit enter
- Once the black box appears, enter 'ipconfig /flushdns' (without quotes) and hit enter
- Once that completes, enter 'ipconfig /renew' (without quotes) and hit enter
- Once that completes, close the window and retry.
Let me know if it still doesn't work after this! I can confirm that Facebook, YouTube, Yahoo and many other popular sites all display correctly in the latest stable version of Chrome.
@Mulder1981. Newer versions of Chrome removed this bug report system, as I guess it wasn't effective in what Google were trying to achieve.
|FT9LFCJR||10/14/10 5:27 AM|
Use https:// instead of http:// before www.facebook.com
|BlakkkPrezzWTF||12/27/10 5:54 PM|
If "About:Blank" is restricted on your IE restricted sites list pop up windows are like novice ideas and will not open correctly on FaceBook. I'd suggest allowing blank pages even with other restrictions applied.
|BlakkkPrezzWTF||12/27/10 6:05 PM|
If u have XP don't EVER download the 7 Tranformation Pak because it tends to ruin blanks too, as I've noticed on an older PC I keep.
|sahayta||1/29/11 12:46 AM|
> Use https:// instead of http:// before www.facebook.comThis worked for me, thanks!
|Shaka999||2/7/11 10:27 AM|
Finally, thank you for https suggestion. That works. Clearing the cache like didn't.
|Raysaidit||5/5/11 5:37 PM|

|ossie2||5/31/11 2:36 AM|
I can not use facebook with my chrome browser any more!!! ... it has worked beautifully up until 2 days ago.
No links will work on facebook so I can not post messages or click on any links and often get this in the address bar *http://www.facebook.com/ajax/ufi/modify.php*
I have gone to Under the Hood and cleaned everything out and still not working.
I am using:
Google Chrome version :
Google Chrome 11.0.696.71 (Official Build 86024)
WebKit 534.24 (branches/chromium/696@86868)
Operating System: Windows XP
URLs (if applicable): Facebook
Error Message: none
Extensions installed: none
Is this forum the only place I can get help?? ..... I have looked everywhere for a email address to contact Chrome but can not find one ... can someone please help me.
|david.king||5/31/11 3:40 AM|
@ossie2. This is the place to be for support. Have you tried the things I have just suggested?
|ossie2||5/31/11 4:06 AM|
OMG OMG OMG ........ IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!! THANKYOU :)
I DID THIS ......
1. Clear your cache and other data (Ref 1).Thankyou again so much .....this has been driving me nuts for days!!!
|ossie2||5/31/11 4:07 AM|

|david.king||5/31/11 4:15 AM|
That depends on when you first noticed the problem, aim to restore to before Facebook started showing issues.
|k3lv||5/31/11 9:46 AM|
i'm having this problem also...just happen today
and nothing is helping, i cleared all my caches files, including flash player's, java's
flushdns is not working on my pc
however i can't get into http://www.facebook.com/ajax/ufi/modify.php at all
and the other weird thing i having is..a cache file stored by fb appear to be a malware on my antivirus ignoring or putting it on exception does not help either
|ossie2||5/31/11 2:14 PM|
Morning :) -- I did a restore back 2 weeks .....way before the probs started but FB is still not working :(
about the only thing i have left to try now is to reinstall Chrome .....but after reading what others say it doesnt help ... any other suggestions before i try that?
|ossie2||5/31/11 2:24 PM|
|ossie2||5/31/11 3:55 PM|
I was just about to uninstall and start again and tried one last time to add a comment and it worked ...... how strange!!

Or just go https://www.Facebook.com
|clhill39||8/20/11 3:42 AM|
Help! I've tried all of these suggestions dozens of times, and Facebook continually runs *extremely* slow on Chrome.
MacBook Pro OSX v10.6.8
Google Chrome 13.0.782.112
Error message: none
Extensions installed: Adblock, New Tab Redirect!, Quickrr World Clock
Currently have in Under the Hood these three checked, but have also tried using FB for a time without them checked, and it makes no visible difference:
-Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
-Predict network actions to improve page load performance
-Enable phishing and malware protection
"Waiting for 0-25.channel.facebook.com..." is what it generally says at the bottom of the screen, whether I've just opened FB, or I've tried to post a comment or photo or open someone else's page or interact with the website in any way. I've contacted FB as well but as expected, they've given me no response.
My speedtest is fairly decent with a ping of 37ms and download speed of 35 (on average) mbps.
I always use HTTPS.
Any other suggestions of things to try?
|grscomet7||8/21/11 12:23 AM|
This Worked thx a lOT
|mitzrah||9/11/11 12:53 AM|
At Facebook.com, click on
Account > Account Settings
Then click on "Security" at the left hand side of the page.
Click the "Edit" link at the end of "Secure Browsing".
Make sure the check box for "Browse Facebook on a secure connection (https) when possible" is checked.
Click "Save Changes".
This helped me sort out the trouble immediately.
|shanmukhsri4u||11/11/11 4:28 AM|
hey to over come this problem just open your facebook account settings>security>secure browsing> and their check the check box having Browse Facebook on a secure connection (https) when possible...
|Charlez||11/11/11 6:29 PM|
I had exactly the same problem. If you try accessing it in incognito mode, you'll notice that it works fine. If that's the case, just clear your browser's cookies and you'll be able to use facebook normally :)
|mvpmurali||11/12/11 5:29 PM|
just clean your caches..........just use CCcleaner....my problem fixed...
|Metaknite||11/21/11 7:15 AM|
This is the solution that worked for me:
1. Log out of Facebook.
2. Delete Browsing Data (Cache) - I deleted All
3. Log back into Facebook.
BTW This solution was the last post in the first page posted by daaaveeeee. So why is this still being discussed?
|david.king||11/21/11 8:48 AM|
I've created a support thread for Facebook issues now, give the solutions listed there a try before detailing your issue!
|Kevin Ouyang||11/22/11 3:22 PM|
|GarySnailMeow||11/22/11 11:48 PM|
@metaknite: it worked for most but not all.. duh...
Well now we have to browse fb over secure browsing =/ but well guess no harm doing so.
|david.king||11/22/11 11:55 PM|
+GarySnailMeow. I'm glad secure browsing solved your problem! Your Facebook account is now also more secure.
|strawberrie||12/9/11 6:52 PM|
I'm encountering the https://www.facebook.com/ajax/ufi/modify.php (facebook-chrome), it's been more than a week now.
What do I do now? :(
|david.king||12/10/11 3:27 AM|
+strawberrie. Have you tried the steps in the support thread I referenced above?
|MaGee||3/14/12 12:49 PM|
Thankfully I was able to clear my history...cleared out everything from "under the hood" and finally got it back to where I could post/comment.
I was ready to toss my computer out in the driveway and let my son run over it!
|Zaicy||5/2/12 2:50 AM|
T^T me too! I want to post something on my timeline or add a comment but I can't.. I also can't view a picture except if I open it on a new tab.. please~ can somebody solve this??
|Zaicy||5/2/12 2:52 AM|

|buscopan||5/14/12 11:47 PM|

|david.king||5/15/12 12:24 AM|
Glad that resolved your issue +buscopan!
|stephhy||5/17/12 11:55 PM|

|Hunkyminik||5/28/12 5:07 AM|
yes, a cant send gifts on google too. unless i "right-click" it and open it in a new tab! though it looks scrambled. but atleast i could send gifts with braaains.
|Taylor5||5/30/12 9:29 AM|
One of our awesome Top Contributors, david.king (thanks, btw!), wrote a comprehensive list of troubleshooting steps for Facebook-related issues. Can you go through them and let me know if this does the trick? If not, please let me know which steps you tried, and specify your Chrome version (type about:version into the omnibox/address bar) as well as your computer's operating system (Windows 7, Mac 10.X, etc).
|stephhy||5/30/12 3:38 PM|
I tried all but steps 7 & 8 of david.king's steps. none of them worked.
|stephhy||6/4/12 7:42 AM|
okay so i don't know what happened or what i did, but i just tried to type my password using Chrome and it still didn't show anything typing. so I decided just to type my password and see if it's hiding or something, so i typed it and pushed enter and voila! it logged in! is that normal for the passwords not to show, like not even the little black circles? and can i fix it to where they aren't hiding?
