Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Sarah Dee 8/26/15 7:30 PM

Hi All,

UPDATE

With the latest update to Chrome, certain types of plugins, known as NPAPI plugins, will no longer be available. You may be running the Adobe Flash which is an NPAPI plugin. You should disable it by following these steps, and get in touch with the site manager to ask them to update their version of flash to one that does not put your computer at risk.

The reason being that NPAPI is outdated and an unsecured technology. Please visit our blog posts to see why: Saying Goodbye to NPAPI, the Final Countdown for NPAPI, NPAPI deprecation: developer guide.

Plugins that use a newer, more secure system called Pepper API (PPAPI) will continue to work, including those that come with Chrome, like Adobe Flash and PDF Viewer. If Flash or PDF doesn’t automatically load, make sure that you have the PPAPI plugin version enabled in Chrome.

Chrome is working to keep you safe :)

ORIGINAL POST:

Several issues with flash were resolved in the newest version of Chrome (33). If you are experiencing issues with Flash, please confirm that you are on the latest version of Chrome and on the latest version of Flash---right-click on Flash content and select “About Adobe Flash” or visit this link.

We have identified several other issues with Flash, so please check if the issue you are experiencing matches one below:

  • YouTube video not loading (or ‘loading black’): this is a known bug with YouTube, please follow the YouTube community forum, and please star this bug for updates

  • YouTube video is choppy or jerky, please star this bug

If you are still having an issue, please try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Go to chrome://plugins and check “Always Allowed” under the Flash plugin
  • If you have more than one Flash plugin installed, please disable one version by going to  chrome://plugins, click on “Details” in the upper right corner, and “disable” under one of the two Flash plugins
  • Load the content in Incognito mode to see if there is any improvement
  • If your issue is on YouTube only, try the HTML5 player: http://www.youtube.com/testtube
  • Try to reset your Chrome browser settings
For all users on Windows XP and Windows Vista if you are experiencing YouTube videos that are choppy, it may be because hardware acceleration is no longer supported for these machines as of Chrome 32. One potential workaround is to enable a flag. Type chrome://flags/#ignore-gpu-blacklist in your omnibox (address bar) and enable the flag, please note this is just a workaround and may lead to stability issues or not work at all.

If issues persist, let us know the following information:

  1. Your Chrome Version:

  2. Your Flash Version:

  3. Your operating system:

  4. When you first noticed the issues:

  5. Areas affected - Flash video content, YouTube Flash content, all Flash content:

  6. Your symptoms? Content not loading at all, content is choppy or lags, audio loads but video does not, other (please specify):

  7. *new* What other browsers have you tried? Is the issue specific to Chrome?

Thank you!

Hello,

I am experiencing these problems.  In response to your troubleshooting steps:

1) Yes i have set this to Always Allow
2) I have only one
3) Makes no difference
4) HTML5 on youtube works

My symptoms are as follows - any video that requires flash will not play, the video will commence loading with the circular loading icon and then it completely freezes, along with Chrome.  I can kill the chrome windows via task manager, however one thing i have noted is that when this issue occurs there is always a chrome process running that uses exactly 13% of the processor and that will not end unless i use a special process killer to do so.  After this issue occurs any attempt to relaunch a browser and browse the internet, even using IE results in my whole PC freezing and having to force a power cycle.

Information
1. Chrome Version:33.0.1750.117 m
2. Which ever version of pepper flash ships with the above product.  The file version is: 12.0.0.70
3. Win7 x64
4. Two days ago.  However i have been on vacation for over a month, so not sure thats the greatest indicator.
5. All flash content - i mostly notice it on video, but advertisements cause the same issue i have noticed also
6.  As described above
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Kurtbot1000 2/27/14 7:00 PM
Chrome version 33, latest up to date. Vista 64bit. All Flash content generates an error. Google Hangouts keeps crashing. Not having a working Flash plugin makes everything slow to load, if it will load at all.  Started noticing this around the same day that Comcast made the news when they started charging Netflix for transport services. Supposedly Netflix service was fixed, but this is still happening. My ISP is MediaCom.

Information
1. Chrome Version:33.0.1750.117 m
2. Which ever version of pepper flash ships with the above product.  The file version is: 12.0.0.70

After updating to Chrome 33 (Mac OSX Version 33.0.1750.117) im not able to go to pages with videos like this:
Hitting play on any video will make the whole window/tab freeze for 10-30 sec and most often I get the Pop-up-window saying that I have to kill this window.
I have seen this on webpages with no video as well.
It is like a huge Garbage Collection that takes forever is triggered.

Set to always allowed, still provides the error "could not load shockwave flash". I first experienced these issues after the recent upgrade to v33. I am impacted by seemingly all flash content, Youtube (switching to HTML5 corrected the errors), Facebook, and Adobe's tests. Adobe Flash simply does not load at all, with the stated error.

I'm running Chrome Version 33.0.1750.117 on Mac OSX Maverick's with Flash 12.0.0.70 and no flash elements work on any page except Youtube.  I do not receive errors, just the videos do not load at all.  I press play and nothing happens.  I noticed this when Flash was last updated.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? jeck77 3/1/14 2:07 PM
Actually I am running the HTML5 player on Youtube, so no even Youtube doesn't work.  No flash videos play whatsoever.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Constantine Tsango 3/2/14 4:20 AM
For me it was the pepperflash.
Disabling it did the trick. But this is not optimal i suppose so here is a description of my case :

Chrome version : 33.0.1750.117 m
Flash version : 12.0.0.70
OS : Windows XP sp3
First noticed : More than a year ago.
Areas affected : Flash video content, youtube and others. Not on every video, mostly the ones with high resolution. Almost all SD videos play fullscreen.
Symptoms : Video not able to show in fullscreen. Most of the times, the video window is limited to the top left corner, leaving the rest of the area empty. Sometimes also video stops playing while audio still playing.

Hello,

  1. Your Chrome Version: 31.0.1650.63 m.

  2. Your Flash Version: the most recent: 12.0.0.70, it's the only one running, pepperflash is off.

  3. Your operating system: Windows XP, 32-bit , Português.

  4. Asus 1.6Ghz with 1GB Ram

  5. When you first noticed the issues: started last year in Autumn and even though i do regular updates it's getting worse.

  6. Areas affected - Flash plugin content

  7. Your symptoms? Content not loading at all, content is choppy or lags, waits the full time to show timeout warning, but then even though i select "kill" plugin it stays hanged, asks again 2 more times before, after long minutes, it shuts the plugin off.

  8. So could you please reduce your "kill" time period so it works faster and with less scheduled questioning steps...or let us manually manage this.

@Demétrio Soares @nicholas foley @JesperA. If you are seeing "Shockwave plug-in has crashed" error messages in the info bar or any "kill page" pop-ups, this bug has been filed. Please star it for updates.

@jeck77, you seem to be having a different issue. Can you try these troubleshooting steps?
  1. Please confirm if the Flash/video issues/behavior is the same in Incognito mode.

  2. Please try disabling PepperFlash with the directions here: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/108086?hl=en

  3. Try disabling Hardware Acceleration with the directions here:  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/891337

  4. (Thanks Jack Rugile for this suggestion!) Go to: chrome://flags/ and set "Threaded compositing" to "Enabled"

Thanks!
Sarah
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? jeck77 3/4/14 7:44 AM
1. Same issues in incognito mode, no flash videos will play at all
2. There is no option for PepperFlash in Chrome:Plugins for me
3. Turned off hardware acceleration, no luck
4. Thread compositing is enabled

All steps taken, no luck.  No flash videos will play.

For me (still running XP), upgrading to the HTML5 player (with both pepperflash and macromedia flash enabled) solved the youtube video problems that began yesterday.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? JesperA 3/4/14 9:43 AM
Now on Chrome Version 33.0.1750.146 m
Have to abandon Chrome for Mac OSX it is not usable anymore. With 30+ tabs open most pages are unbearable slow sluggish/frozen.
Where can you find Chrome 32?

Firefox and Safari, I will come back now all is forgiven!
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? nasser gostar 3/4/14 12:43 PM
Adobe and Flash.  We don't have a problem with Adobe and Flash installed by the company, but we have a problem with unauthorized Third Party in our PC.  I don't know what they are trying to establish in our computer, but whatever they do causes us problems with Adobe and Flash because most of the news video says "to watch this video you should have Flash and to download Flash."  I know I had Flash a few weeks ago, but suddenly I lost the Flash icon on my screen.  It is very difficult for us to describe issue by issue professionally, by technical name, product by product.  All I can say myself and my wife are not able to use Google tools.  We cannot create one page required by Youtube and Facebook because we don't know how to do that. Unfortunately, in this point I have to inform you that Third Party changed having access to my passwords, and I saw the Third Party asked Google to have access to data to change or edit my account, and I also read that the Third Party request was denied by Google.  The bad thing is one person in the Third Party has the same last name as mine.  I lost lots of programming and lots of things like Google Earth, chat room, My Office and many other services provided by Google worldwide.  This opportunity has been provided by Google to everyone.  In 2012 the Third Party broke something in my computer.  The trouble shooter said they broke your dock.  After weeks of work by the trouble shooter to fix the problem, I finally had to order the new disk until they reprogrammed my computer.  That takes at least four months that we were unable to use our computer.  We were advised not to unplug the computer because we might lost the entire data.  One incident in which Google pointed out about misusing tools was during the time our computer was inactive by us.  The Third Party used a White Page and connected us to an unknown site.  My PC is loaded with unknown  dangerous software by unknown publisher.  The Third Party has been in my computer for 2+ years.
Forgive me for writing so much.  This is the first time I have had an opportunity to report my problem because anytime I try to use "Safety" or "page to report" one-half of my screen becomes disabled with colorful vertical lines and my mouse becomes disabled.
Do you think I should trash my computer and buy a new one?  Is this a lost cause?
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Sarah Dee 3/4/14 1:47 PM
@jeck77 Pepperflash should be bundled in automatically. Can you try pressing the checkbox next to "Details" in the top right hand corner so there is a "-" next to "Details." It may be halfway down the page. Let me know if you still don't have it and if you could provide a screenshot that would be great.

@nasser gostar Can you try resetting your Chrome browser settings? If that doesn't help, please go through your program files and uninstall any programs you do not recognize. We're happy to help you identify potentially malicious programs so feel free to post those in this thread
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? jeck77 3/5/14 9:13 AM
I found Pepperflash and disabled it, now I get the "Shockwave flash has crashed" error whenever I try to play Flash videos.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? tbakke 3/5/14 9:55 PM
  1. Your Chrome Version:  33.0.1750.146 m

  2. Your Flash Version: 12,0,0,70

  3. Your operating system: Windows 7 64bit

  4. When you first noticed the issues: When Chrome updated some time in middle/late january

  5. Areas affected - Flash video content, YouTube Flash content, all Flash content: All flash content/youtube flash content. Seems totally random. Sometimes it reacts to youtube videos, sometimes to flash based web content.

  6. Your symptoms? Content not loading at all, content is choppy or lags, audio loads but video does not, other (please specify): "Shockwave Flash has crashed" when loading webpages. Sometimes when playing youtube content Flash crashes in the middle of a video, sometimes when loading the video.. Sometimes the browser freezes completely before giving the flash crash message, sometimes not..

I have done "chrome:plugins" and in addition to pepflashplayer.dll i also have NPSWF32_12_0_0_70.dll . I have tried disabeling one of them, the other one than first tried, enabling both..
When enabling only pepflash some videos work, some don't.. Same goes for enabling the NPSWF-file instead of the pepflash, but sometimes other videos that didn't crash with NPSWF will crash with pepflash..
Enabling both sometimes work, sometimes not..

THIS IS AN ERROR IN CHROME. There is no way around it. Every single page I am experiencing problems with work absolutely fine in other browsers (have tried firefox, opera, IE).

Does anyone have the link to an earlier version of Chrome that didn't have this issue? I've tried reinstalling without any luck, so I want to try and do a rollback on the version number to a version where things actually worked, and disabling auto update.

You know something's wrong when people are afraid of having auto update turned on.. :P

    Hello,

Yesterday had this idea/revelation...it's still slow but functioning somewhat:

Peperflash is made For Google Chrome...right?
They make updates for it according to each new version of Chrome so they work well together.

So why turn Pepperflash off...? Instead i turned it back on, just on google chrome, and turned Macromedia's off: just in google chrome.

Now all i will do is check if Chrome is updated, and the new errors will be just Chrome development related, no more "excuses" if it fails it's all you.

Hi, I am experiencing some difficulties with Flash. my youtube videos when I try to watch them fullscreen, just stay the same size but move to the top left corner and freeze, I tried disabling the flash plugin and set always allow to be true and it fixed Youtube but now my Adblock plus is not working and I have ads on the videos, any Ideas?

    1. Your Chrome Version: Version 33.0.1750.146 m

    2. Your Flash Version: 12,0,0,70

    3. Your operating system: XP

    4. When you first noticed the issues: Since the last big Chrome update: the one with the UI scrollbar change

    5. Areas affected - Flash video content, YouTube Flash content, all Flash content: All of the above. Anything that involves playing audio or video.

    6. Your symptoms? Content not loading at all, content is choppy or lags, audio loads but video does not, other (please specify): Choppy, audio lag, interruption when I use the Chrome interface while music is playing. Not on every video. Happens in Incognito as well.

Example: Besides the aforementioned YouTube bug problems... When I listen to the following song in Chrome, I have all the audio problems mentions. When I listen to it in Firefox, I have zero issues.

This is definitely a problem with your latest Chrome build and not, as someone below sarcastically put it, a problem with using NPAPI version of Flash instead of the built-in. Note: I enabled PepperFlash and had the same exact problems.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Amy Karnehm 3/7/14 8:11 AM
Ever since the auto update to version Version 33.0.1750.146 m - i get "Could not load Shockwave Flash".  I tried deleting the old files in the Chrome Directory (getting rid of older pepperflash files) but to no avail.   I uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome.   I am running 12.0.0.70. I was working fine on the morning of 3/4 but came to work and had the problem (same laptop). I noticed the update folder timestamped during the time my laptop was sitting there before I came to work, so i'm pretty sure it's this update. Trying to use IE for the time being, but Flash always crashes with IE. Anyone else come up with a fix? I can't disable versions of Flash because I only have one listed.

If issues persist, let us know the following information:

    1. Your Chrome Version: 33.0.1750.146 m

    2. Your Flash Version: 12.0.0.70

    3. Your operating system: Windows Vista

    4. When you first noticed the issues: After chrome updated, a few weeks ago

    5. Areas affected - Flash video content, YouTube Flash content, all Flash content: most flash content, specifically youtube videos have sound with a black screen and some facebook games (Tribez and Coral Isle are what I play) that use flash freeze and/or are so slow I can't play.

    6. Your symptoms? Content not loading at all, content is choppy or lags, audio loads but video does not, other (please specify): see answer in #5

    7. I have tried everything I've seen on here to try to fix this to no avail. I have only one flash plugin and it is always enabled. I have tried the incognito and it does the same thing.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Skylar Nielsen 3/8/14 12:38 PM

    1. Chrome Version 33.0.1750.146 m

    2. Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.70

    3. Windows Vista Home Premium

    4. Sometime in mid February I think, maybe earlier than that.

    5. Anything that has anything to do with streaming audio. YouTube and Google Play Music are the main places I notice it.

    6. Video is a bit slow, but that's probably more of my computer's fault than my chrome. Audio has a popping noise to it, or is very choppy. Listening to audio has become very irritating for me. Another thing to point out is I have to use chrome in "Run as administrator" mode otherwise no web pages will load at all, or I'll open a new tab and it will stay blank with "Untitled" despite searching something in the URL bar. Hope you can help me fix this.

    6. Areas affected - Flash video content, YouTube Flash content, all Flash content: Flash content of our companies flash based product that use a "navigateToURL" AS method.

    7. Your symptoms? Content not loading at all, content is choppy or lags, audio loads but video does not, other (please specify): Seems to render buttons that use "navigateToURL" AS method inoperable. Flash is unable to navigate away from page.

    4. Your operating system: Windows 7

    5. When you first noticed the issues: Mar 5 but could have been around for longer

    6. Areas affected - ALL Flash video content played in a normal tab or window (link opened in an Incognito tab have worked).

    7. Your symptoms? Nothing loads....black screen or never ending spinning icon

Right now IE is working much better than Chrome. (FF has it's own problems).

We would appreciate it if Google would resolve this so that Chrome could again be the browser of choice.

Hi, I have done the troubleshooting but it the problem still seems to be there
    1. Version 33.0.1750.146 m
    2. Flash version 12,0,0,70
    3. Windows 7 x64
    4. Last week or so
    5. Youtube videos and certain flash content work fine. Only on anime videos it doesn't, examples: anime4fun.com and gogoanime.com
    6. Just a black screen. Video doesn't load

Doesn't load on Chrome or Firefox but loads perfectly on IE
Might be related to the snap.do adware/virus but I completely got rid of it

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Jherara 3/9/14 9:25 PM
    Additional Note:

HTML5 Video Player videos seem to be having the most problems. I tried the video changeover and that did nothing to fix the problem.

Video lagging still also takes place with any type of flash video whenever I open new tabs or open pages that use a lot of resources. I don't know what changes were made with the last version update, but Chrome has become an even greater resource hog than it was previously and for the life of me I can't think of any reason that it should be taking up so many resources.

Seriously, if adding new UI elements caused all of this, then maybe it's time to switch back to the previous build. I switched from Firefox to Chrome years ago because it used to be easy to use and fast. Now? Not so much.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Jherara 3/9/14 9:28 PM
I don't have that screen, but when I go to a website and scroll up or down part of the page blanks out and turns tan, and then it takes a few extra seconds for the page to re-appear. Sometimes, even after the page completely loads and a few minutes half passed, scrolling results in the reappearance of the tan bar.

  • Your Chrome Version: 33.0.1750.146

  • Your Flash Version: 12.0.0.70

  • Your operating system: Windows 7 64 bits

  • Since last year but as gotten worse on computers running Windows XP 32 bits

  • Areas affected - Flash video content, YouTube Flash content, Flash games

  • Your symptoms? Content is choppy or lags, audio loads but video does not, gaming freezes and displays plugin not working, then even if you try stopping it you must wait for 2 more warnings.

  • Have 1 new pc with Windows 7 64 bits and 2 with Windows XP 32bits, acess to anothher one running Windows XP 32 bits, those old ones running Windows XP are very worse.

  • Turned Pepperfalsh off agin and went back to Adobe Flash, because Pepperflash was even worse, dark ages behaviour super slow and worsened every complaint.

  • Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Gwendolyn Brown 3/10/14 6:56 AM
Yes, I believe I am experiencing issues with Chrome:

    1. Version 33.0.1750.146 m
    2. Version: 12.0.0.70
    3. Windows 8.1
    4. I started noticing issues about 7 - 10 days ago after the last update
    5. Areas affected: Facebook and apps running in Facebook (it hangs and affects all of Chrome after about an hour. Affects whether or not I am actually in the tab. I have to disable tab and bring up a new tab for Facebook); Istockphoto.com; many other flash oriented sites including You Tube.
    6. Symptoms include stalling, slow response that slows down other tabs until that tab resumes normal response; crashes galore
I did uninstall Chrome a couple of days ago thinking that the issue may have been a bad installation. But the problems still persist.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Your Mapper 3/10/14 11:14 AM
I have some info that might help out.  It seems to create this black screen issue only when the video is in HD, in Flash.

For example, if you embed a YouTube video, say at size 360p, on a page and view it, it works fine. If you then add the unsupported vq=720hd parameter, the video doesn't play and has a black screen.

Based on other comments, it might be related to hardware accelleration kicking in, which could be part of the issue.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Demétrio Soares 3/11/14 8:50 AM
    Hello again,

I turned off the hardware aceleration in Google Chrome on All computers, the new one with Windows 7 64bits doesn't have changes, but all the computers running Windows XP 32bits are lighter and faster.

As for Youtube/Flash Games, it's getting worse, now i have that audio problem, it flickers and audio/video fails.

Plugin error on Flash gaming: full computer stall and stop.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Sarah Dee 3/11/14 3:44 PM

@Christopher McGuinness, Thanks for reporting this issue. There is a bug filed for it here, please star it so you can get updates directly.

@mari jung, There are a couple of bugs that match some of your symptoms. Star the YouTube black screen bug here. Star the 'shockwave has crashed' bug here

@Your Mapper, Thanks for your input---there are some known issues about what you mentioned---HD Content displaying black screens in various video players. If you are experiencing this issue, please try turning off HD.

@TGilbert, Just to clarify, flash content is working in an incognito tab? This hints to potentially an extension interfering with your flash. Can you try disabling all of your extensions and see if it works in a regular browser tab? Could you also let us know if you have any anti-virus software.

@Jarren Ong Could you also resetting your Chrome browser settings? The snap.do adware may have to do with the flash issues. I just want to make sure you also tried in incognito and that didn't work?

    Hi Sarah,
I appreciate any help I can get!

    1. Your Chrome Version: 33.0.1750.149 m

    2. Your Flash Version: When I go to chrome://plugins, the first one listed reads: "Adobe Flash Player (2 files) - Version 12.0.0.77, Shockwave Flash 12.0 r0" ......I have uninstalled Flash entirely, and re-installed it. Also have followed your other directions.

    3. Your operating system: Windows 7 Professional (64-bit)

    4. When you first noticed the issues: Monday 3/10/14

    5. Areas affected - Flash video content, YouTube Flash content, all Flash content: Flash video, including Youtube

    6. Your symptoms? Content not loading at all, content is choppy or lags, audio loads but video does not, other (please specify): Whenever I try to advance or rewind a video by dragging the cursor on the timeline, the video restarts from the beginning. This is obviously very frustrating when you just need to view a small part of the video, but it doesn't occur until several minutes in.

    7. *new* What other browsers have you tried? Is the issue specific to Chrome? This is not the case when I try it with the exact same videos in IE or in FF. The issue is only in Chrome, which, unfortunately, is what I prefer to use! Please help!

@jeck77 @baverill, Would you be willing to try Canary and let us know if flash videos work there? Thanks!

@Jarren Ong, Thanks for letting us know what you needed to do to fix your issue. Hopefully it'll work with some others as well.

@Spencer S. Thanks for providing that information. Sounds like you are having a different problem then the other people on this thread. Quick couple of questions for you, is this happening with all videos or just some or a specific video? If it's the latter two, could you provide me with a video URL where the issue is occurring? What type of device are you using, is it a touch screen or just a regular laptop? I have heard of similar issues so there may already be a bug filed.

@cerberus. There is a bug filed for the full screen issue, please star it so you can get updates.

@Demetrio Soares, if you type in that entire URL it should be the first flag listed.

    Thanks everyone!
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Spencer S. 3/12/14 2:09 PM
    @Sarah,
Yeah, my problem is different....I couldn't find ANYTHING remotely close to addressing this when I googled it though!

To answer your questions....First, I am using a laptop (an HP EliteBook).  It IS a touch-screen, but I never use that....just the finger pad and keyboard.

Second...No, this issue doesn't happen with every video; it occurs only with certain videos (I'd say roughly 50% of those that I try to view...albeit, that is a small sample size).  I can't seem to pick up on a pattern as to which videos it will happen on.

So, here's a couple links to some sample videos:
    1)  This video works properly....I can fast-forward and rewind as intended:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lGrARvsuD0

    2)  This video does not work properly....Whenever I try to fast-forward, the video starts over.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zh2fl5463BE

Thanks again for your help; sorry I had to catch you on the wrong thread!
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Sarah Dee 3/12/14 2:25 PM
@Spencer S. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! One more question...just to make sure this is an issue with Chrome and not YouTube, does the fast forwarding work on another browser (IE, Firefox, etc.)?
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Demétrio Soares 3/12/14 4:58 PM
    @Sarah, slightly better ;-)

"and the truth shall set you free!!"

Yet still not as fully functional as it used too, and starts online flash gaming with plugin error...

"@Demetrio Soares, if you type in that entire URL it should be the first flag listed. "

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Spencer S. 3/12/14 7:54 PM
    @Sarah,
Hi Sarah.  Yes, I'm pretty sure it is a Chrome issue, because I've tried the same exact videos (that malfunction in Chrome) in FF and IE, and the fast-forward works properly.

I've cleaned out my cache, I've messed around with the hardware acceleration (trying the videos with it disabled/enabled), changed the resolution, un-installed and then re-installed Adobe Flash....nothing seems to make a difference and I'm out of ideas!

    Thanks again for your help!

    ~Spencer

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Lavinia Takapu 3/14/14 10:50 AM
    1. I have the latest chrome version (just downloaded  33.0.1750.149 m)
    2. I also have the latest flash version 12,0,0,77
    3. Win7
    4. First noticed in Jan - haven't been using my laptop since then, until now
    5. all Flash content
    6. I can see videos and the page loads just fine, but there is no audio at all - on youtube, googleplay, netflix, etc.
    7. I have tried everything on explorer and they all work perfectly there, so it seems to be a problem specific to the Chrome browser (and I have all ready tried all the possible solutions posted here)
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Kurtbot1000 3/14/14 11:43 AM
Have tried all of the workarounds noted in this thread. The Flash and Hangouts, Chrome plugins, keep crashing. The first tab within my Chrome browser is able to navigate the web. Subsequent tabs do not even try to navigate if a URL is specified. Just kind of sit there. If I close the brower entirely and open a new one the first tab is still the only one that can navigate.

Only happens on my Vista box. IE works somewhat better however it has issues with trying to launch new tabs as well.

Have reinstalled Chrome multiple times, toggled the flag for hardware acceleration (no help), also tried disabling Async DNS (no help), disabled/enabled/always-allowed the Flash plugin. No joy.

My Samsung Chromebook is not having this problem. So I am leaning more towards an OS (Windows Vista) update being the problem here.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? baverill 3/14/14 11:49 AM
I've given up and uninstalled Chrome, Canary, etc.  It's back to Firefox for me until Google can figure out how to get back to a stable browser.  I posted on Facebook asking if any friends with Macs had the same issue and 4 people responded within an hour saying that they had uninstalled as well.  Looks like this is a fairly common problem.  Good luck everyone.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Talon86 3/17/14 8:29 AM
This update has ruined chrome for me.  It's not just the flash, but lots of stuff.  I've done all the steps you've suggested and certain things just won't work.  The flash plug-in was bad...I can disable flash, but still some problems persist.  For example, right click and save-as takes hours (appears to not work, but will get the dialogue box literally hours later and if I close chrome, it says downloads in progress).

I've gone back to Explorer for now.  Fix chrome please.

    Latest chrome version: 33.0.1750.154 m
    SHockwave Flash: 12.0 r0
    Windows 8.1 touch enabled
First noticed immediately after chrome update
Areas affected: some flash, web pages with "buttons" like most vBulletin forums, inability to save files, pages never completely loading
Explorer works perfectly and all of these pages I'm having difficulty with are "daily" pages I frequent, well, daily. ;)

Something in the chrome update has gone wonky.  I even uninstalled chrome and reinstalled it fresh.  No help.  If I disable flash completely, most things work, but not all (and obviously nothing with flash).
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Christie Hurst 3/17/14 9:44 AM
This is exactly what is happening to me too.  The sound stopped working on every website.  I know it's not the computer itself because it still makes a dinging sound when I turn up the volume.  It's on my chromebook, however.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Felipe Lorenzi 3/17/14 12:11 PM
I haven't discovered a fix. I'm pretty sure my problem is with adobe shockwave or flash because youtube doesn't work in any of my web browsers. My youtube works for about 10 seconds after I have turned on my computer and then BOOM! It stops working. I'm getting really frustrated because I have to watch videos on my phone now.

I'm not at the point where Chrome just freezes every time I try to open more than one or two pages. This is ridiculous. I'm going to see if I can go back to an earlier version and then turn off Google updates.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? RandomUser1234 3/18/14 1:37 PM
    Your Chrome Version: Version 33.0.1750.152
Your Flash Version: Adobe Flash Player Version: 12.0.0.77; Shockwave Flash 12.0 r0
Your operating system: mac osx 10.9.2
When you first noticed the issues: yesterday (after automatic update i guess)
Areas affected - Flash video content, YouTube Flash content, all Flash content: ALL FLASH CONTENT
Your symptoms?: just a message "could not load shockwave flash", no content loading
*new* What other browsers have you tried? Is the issue specific to Chrome?: firefox tells me no flash player is installed

my windows machine has chrome version .154m; same flash version, everything working fine
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? RandomUser1234 3/18/14 2:06 PM
    Update:

just installed the standalone version of flash since firefox told me nothing was installed.
now chrome is working fine again.
i have now two plugins listed under flash, and it doesnt matter which one i disable, everything works and there is no "could not load shockwave flash" message anymore
even if i disable both it somehow works...which is kind of curious...only youtube tells me that i need to upgrade, but it still plays the videos
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? filo 3/19/14 5:12 AM
    Chrome version: 33.0.1750.154m
    Flash version: 12.0.0.77
    OS: WinXP
First noticed issue: I've been experiencing these problems since february. Chrome has been updated several times since then, but the problem is still there.
Areas affected: all Flash content, all audio content
Symptoms: Audio is bad (really choppy and distorted) when playing youtube videos or any audio stream (i.e. soundcloud, bandcamp). Video lags and plays slower than normal, and at low quality only.
Audio and video seem better in incognito mode, but not if there's more than one tab open.
Audio of external apps seems to be affected if chrome is on: both audio in vlc and spotify is choppy if chrome is on. It seems slightly better if certain tabs (i.e. facebook, gmail) are kept in background. Scrolling a page often triggers choppy audio also in external apps.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Syberia 3/19/14 1:52 PM
Google needs to get its act together.  Every time I launch it, it redownloads things that mess up YouTube.

If the video is lagging, or the audio is choppy, there are two solutions I've found that work.  First. disable the Pepper Flash plugin.  Second, delete  ffmpegsumo.dll.  That file causes some YouTube videos to play in HTML 5, even if you have that option disabled on YouTube.  These things redownload every time you relaunch, though.

Shockwave Flash 12 & I have PepperFlash Disabled (I frequently have to go in and disable PepperFlash to keep Chrome from freezing up).
    "Always Allowed" is now checked
Tonight, 3/20/2014, is the first time I could not hear any volume on video on a Facebook page and I could not control my computer's volume while trying to use it while on Chrome, but works fine on my iTunes Player. I could not here music clips on Amazon while on Chrome. And shortly after, videos stopped playing completely.
Had some of the issues with Firefox too. On some of the videos I could see my Fxn Volume Controls, but still not sound. Sometimes the videos would play on Firefox.

It's nice that my post was seen as duplicate.
It isn't only Flash that has problems.
HTML5 video/audio playback buffering problems too, where the video stops playing when its completely downloaded.
Internet Explorer and Firefox are not affected by this.

also i noticed that if i open another tab and goto that page while the video is playing on the previous page(tab), then the video plays fine(im judging this based on the smoothness of the soundtrack). So does this give any insight into what may be happening or what may work to help this situation?

Not only do I have a problem with Youtube, but when I try to run http://www.speedtest.net/, it does not run!  It seems that Flash is causing a number of problems.  Why doesn't Google just remove it from Chrome, or put something it Chrome to recognize the correct version of Flash?

    Hello,
    1.Chrome - 33.0.1750.154
    2.Flash - 12.0
    3.OS - Win7 x64
4.I first noticed the issue about 3 days ago (I'm not sure if something automatically updated that I am unaware of)
    5.Youtube Flash content
6.I have recently been receiving an odd problem when going into fullscreen on youtube videos that do not have the option to be 1080p (all videos in 720p and under have this problem). The ui and video look very pixelated even when it is rendering in 720p. Additionally the ui is abnormally large. It is challenging to explain but i think will be cleared in a screenshot I have attached (the first one is in google chrome, the second firefox)
7.I have tried Mozzila Firefox and it works fine

    I have already tried:

    -Updating my graphics driver
    -Updating Windows 7
    -Updating my flash player
    -Disabling and re-enabling hardware acceleration
-Chrome://plugins adobe flash player always allowed is checked
    -HTML 5 youtube player
-Incognito mode also has this problem
Any response is appreciated, Thank you!

Its amazing that google is telling us to disable their version of flash (pepperflash) and to use macromedias version.... fix pepperflash!! Pepperflash is great because in-game ads dont work.

ive gotten it to work a couple times by disabling and reenabling it. But, this is a pain in the ass too. so are the ads.

instead of telling us to use external flash, fix yours!!
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Frank Muniz 3/30/14 11:53 AM

    Hello Sarah,

    Here are my specs:

    1. Your Chrome Version: 33.0.1750.154

    2. Your Flash Version: 12.0.0.77

    3. Your operating system: Windows 8

    4. When you first noticed the issues: Last week, around March 24th 2014 - but rumors have it started back in late January/early February

    5. Areas affected: Flash content (swf files generated by Articulate software) used for educational purposes, works when tested in web format but not when displayed in your Chrome browser.

    6. Your symptoms: The chapter content loads (that part is an html piece that assembles the other pieces - css, js, and swf files), but the certain Flash content (swf files) are hit and miss. Certain sections/slides are loading while others give me a spinning loading cursor that doesn't ever load all the way. Some of these swf files do contain video content, but never gets to loading these.

    7. *new* What other browsers have you tried? Is the issue specific to Chrome? Yes, this issue persists with Chrome. Also Safari does the same exact issue on the same exact slides, and now Firefox has recently been a hit and miss alternative. Got it to work on Internet Explorer and Opera. Rumors that older versions of your web browser works, but not latest update.

Please help! This has been affecting our company for a week now (if not longer) and we really need a solution or a workaround before all our students start an uproar. I have one student on a Mac that regularly uses your browser, and since we can't get other browsers on her Mac to work quite right, it has been causing her frustration to no end. I definitely need a work around for her sooner than later, like tomorrow lol... I know, dreaming over here.

But in all sincerity, please help as soon and as much as you can. Our delicate situation has evolved into a bit of a crisis, and you guys are our one hope.

    Thank you.

Fixed it. I went in and deleted a bunch of extensions. I should have done one at a time. Duh. The extensions I deleted were:

    1. Ad-block
    2. Logitech Setpoint
    3. Google Tag Assistant

One of those must have been the culprit.

As I mentioned, this is a clean install of version 34.0.1847.116 on a brand new computer.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Syberia 4/11/14 1:07 PM
Disable Pepper and enable Adobe.  Go into your Program Files, Google, Chrome, and locate a dll file with a name like ffmpeg and delete it.  It tends to reinstall when you open Chrome, so you may want to block it with your antivirus software.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? MitchSD 4/11/14 2:05 PM
I should have mentioned that I also tried with Adobe Flash enabled and Pepper Flash disabled and that causes chrome to crash every time I go to a page with flash content.  I tried your steps and moved ffmpegsumo.dll to a USB drive and chrome still crashes.  So I am back to Pepper Flash enabled, Adobe Flash disabled but I still get the "Could not load Shockwave Flash" error for every page with flash content.

having the same problem since they updated it to flash player 13.0.0.182  .
    OS: win 7  x64 ultimate
    Chrome version: 34.0.1847.116
Problem: stuck at loading. no audio/video
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Bhushan Sthapit 4/16/14 8:06 PM
When I play youtube files, it doesn't play properly, the video gets stuck and the sound is very wobbly. The CPU usage increases tremendously between 90-100%). At that time, i don't use any other applications but just youtube in Chrome. Is this a known issue? i have the new version of chrome (34.0.1847.116m) installed and latest flash version also (13.0.0.182). I am using Windows Vista Home Basic 32 bit.

I have enabled Flash player in the Chrome plug in settings and checked 'always allowed' also. nothing helps.

I think the performance is slightly better if i play youtube in Internet Explorer browser.

The rest of the PC is just fine and very fast, i have 4G of RAm and adequate hard disk space. No problems with any other apps except youtube videos. I have also checked my Intel chipset drivers, they are also the latest i can get.

Looking forward to your support for this matter.

This problem has bogged me down for many days now, it is very frustrating.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Josh Chartrand 4/17/14 4:38 AM
I am having the same issue as the above posts.

I have tried all the fixes available on the internet, what is odd is that this impacts all browsers... so it is clearly an issue with Flash and not Chrome specifically. Any time that a page loads with flash it instantly stalls, and freezes to a point where I need to end the process tree to regain access to the browser.

    Please help!

    Windows 7
    Flash 13.0.0.182
    Chrome 34.0.1847.116m

This happened right when I updated my Chrome browser.

I'm only getting the video choppiness and lagging with videos that when I right-click show the HTML5 menu. Non-HTML5 menu videos are fine.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Syberia 4/17/14 6:36 AM
Check out my above posts.  Deleting that file will stop HTML5, but Chrome will sometimes redownload it, so you should block it with your antivirus too, if you can.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Tracy Hare 4/18/14 9:40 AM
Yes, that is a good "Work Around" for those of us who will do it. Even better is to ditch Chrome Altogether. However, if you host a site that uses flash for something like emulated HLS video streaming, it hardly seems reasonable to tell the 60% and growing number of Chrome users to do a "Work Around" because Google hasn't fixed their favorite browser.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Mette Aumala 4/20/14 8:10 AM
Within the last 4 days videos have gone from smooth to unwatchably choppy at resolutions above 480p. There are also strange pixellation issues.

  • Your Chrome Version: 34.0.1847.116 m

  • Your Flash Version: 13,0,0,182

  • Your operating system: Vista 32-bit

  • When you first noticed the issues: A day ago

  • Areas affected - Flash video content, YouTube Flash content, all Flash content: Flash video

  • Your symptoms? Content not loading at all, content is choppy or lags, audio loads but video does not, other (please specify): Video is unwatchably choppy in HD on YouTube, on others such as Vimeo HD isn't HD at all but pixellated low resolution image (and may still be choppy). Youtube playback is somewhat better in Incognito mode but not as smooth as in other browsers and seems to deteriorate after watching for a while.

  • What other browsers have you tried? Is the issue specific to Chrome? Firefox and Internet Explorer 9 play the videos flawlessly. The issue is limited to Chrome as far as I can tell.

  • Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Sarah Dee 4/21/14 10:27 AM
@Frank Muniz, Thanks for coming to the forum. Can you send me a link of what you are looking at?

@Vincent Basset, Can you try disabling pepperflash? (Go to chrome://plugins, click on “Details” in the upper right corner, and “disable” under pepperflash)

@Everyone (specifically @rpdare, @dkumar). Some users have reported that resetting your Chrome browser settings have resolved the issue, can you try that?

@Samee Khan Thanks for coming to the forum. I tried to replicate your issue but was unable. Are you on your personal computer or you school computer? It's possible there are restrictions on your computer by for example anti-virus software that won't allow plugins to run.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Sarah Dee 4/21/14 10:39 AM
Thanks all for coming to the forum. I will respond to as many of you as I can, please also see the troubleshooting steps listed in the first post and make sure you've tried those.

@Mette Aumala, Since you are just having issues with YouTube, can you check to see if you are watching YouTube with HTML5 or flash? You can check by It sounds like you may just be having issues with the YouTube HTML5 player. You can see if you are using the HTML5 player by right clicking on a video if it says "Adobe Flash settings..." then you are watching with flash (not HTML5). Can you let me know?

@clint23, have you tried clearing your cache and cookies? You could also try to disable pepperflash and see if that works.

@Farzan Dean and @jayessemm, Thanks for your solutions! Other people might want to try what worked for you, doing a clean uninstall and re-install of Flash

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Trev Law 4/21/14 12:22 PM
  • Your Chrome Version: 34.0.1847.116 m

  • Your Flash Version: Version: 13.0.0.182

  • Your operating system: Windows 7 64bit

  • When you first noticed the issues: 4/20/14

  • Areas affected - Flash video content, Adobe Air Content, Streaming Advertisements and video

  • Your symptoms? Seems to be adobe flash, or adobe products only. Day before yesterday everything was working fine, perfect FPS. Open my browser yesterday a video loads completely, plays for 3-15 secdonds and then stops. I am able to browse through the movie when given the option as well as see frames within the video, however am unable to get it to play. Tried doing a clean uninstall of flash to no avail. Adobe air also stopped working(i use it with pandora one desktop app). Tried uninstalling and re installing that as well. I might also note I just did a full reformat of the computer and all windows updates have been updated, I did not do the reformat to correct this problem, but am only seeing it now after it has been done. I have also since tried uninstalling and reinstalling chrome fresh, it does nothing.

  • What other browsers have you tried? Is the issue specific to Chrome? I tried viewing the content in IE as well to see if the problem was the same, it was, however internet explorer tells me my flash player is out of date. I will be checking to see if updating via IE works now.

  • Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Trev Law 4/21/14 6:22 PM
Hey guys I fixed my issue... If yours is similar to the one posted right above this one then your problem may be a USB device. My device happened to be a logitech G35 headset plugged into a USB device in the back of the computer. It may still be a hardware issue with my motherboard or simply the G35 itself. After updating the driving and finding the correct drivers from logitech all videos are loading just fine. My suggestion is tinker with your AUDIO if your issue was like mine. Hope this helps anyone else looking for a solution.

    1. Your Chrome Version: 34.0.1847.116 m

    2. Your Flash Version: 13,0,0,182

    3. Your operating system: Windows 7

    4. When you first noticed the issues: About 3 months ago

    5. Areas affected - Anything "Flash" will not play or load...

    6. Your symptoms? Initially in the first few months my symptoms were: Anger, annoyance, frustration. After a while my anger turned to; disappointment then pitty. Soon I found myself turning to "other" browsers to do things like; read articles that my have a picture or two embedded in them or watch news clips or funny videos of cats... I would still browse with Chrome - but I always had another browser opened in the background in case I had to cut and paste a url so I could view content.... but over time I discovered that I could just skip the "cut and paste" step entirely and just NOT use Chrome.

My solution/work around? - I started using Opera and I love it.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Tevin A 4/24/14 9:08 AM
Did anyone ever solve this issue? I still have the same problem.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? jayessemm 4/24/14 9:21 AM
    Tevin,

Famous last words but ... I downloaded the latest Flash direct from the Adobe site and everything seems okay.  I was too lazy to do that complete remove / unistall / reinstall and just downloaded whatever version of Shockwave Flash Adobe said and everything works for now.

But I know there is a general issue that ain't getting fixed.  My son -- with way more computer knowledge and patients than I -- who uses a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.9 finally gave up on Chrome and now switched to Safari.

Me I'd sorta like to see Chrome get working.

    Good luck.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? DLZP_Dave 4/24/14 3:23 PM
Yes, the solution for me was to revert back to Internet Explorer, it appears that it works fine with Youtube...not sure why i can't watch youtube videos with Googles own Chrome Browser? You would think they would ensure that it works with their own products.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? kozie 4/24/14 11:21 PM
Thank you! You are the only person that was helpful here (from what I've read). It completely solved my problem - I had deleted this file in the past thanks to another guy, but I was not aware it redownloads it, and I was confused as to what was causing the problem this time around. Plus, I had forgotten exactly what I deleted before.

    Thanks again buddy.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Jherara 4/25/14 1:16 AM
B/c the dev team is trying to force technological changes on users to make those changes standard (think Microsoft's removal of the start menu -- of course, we've all seen how that turned out).

I didn't delete the file related to this issue, but I renamed it AND the problem miraculously disappeared. LOL

    I used to love Chrome.

Now? I'm tolerating it while I test other browsers. I have no desire to go back to IE or use Firefox every day. Just need to find one that's fast and easy to use.

Hi, I posted an issue I was having with Chrome and Flash, but I'm on OS X, not Windows (which I specified in my post), nor do I have any other Flash plugins (which I also specified), but since somebody at Google apparently wants me here... <shrugs>

  • Your Chrome Version: 34.0.1847.116

  • Your Flash Version: Adobe 13.0.0.182

  • Your operating system: OS X 10.9.2

  • When you first noticed the issues: This problem started when I got a new computer around two months ago.

  • Areas affected - Flash video content, YouTube Flash content, all Flash content: All Flash Content

  • Your symptoms? Content does not load when there is more than one Flash object in a page (I think) or maybe how it is embedded, as embedded YouTube videos or Soundcloud players don't work; videos in YouTube or Facebook appear fine

  • *new* What other browsers have you tried? Is the issue specific to Chrome? Flash works as expected on Safari.

  • Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Caroline P 4/25/14 5:35 PM
This post helped fix my problem, I couldn't load gorillavid or some online shopping sites. Thank you!!

    Hello,

I have been experiencing these problems all day - yesterday I did not have these problems.

If issues persist, let us know the following information:

    1. Your Chrome Version: 34.0.1847.131 m

    2. Your Flash Version: 13,0,0,206

    3. Your operating system: Windows 7 home premium

    4. When you first noticed the issues: today (april 27, 2013)

    5. Areas affected - Flash video content, YouTube Flash content, all Flash content: flash (ie watching a tv show online) ONLY - youtube works fine!

    6. Your symptoms? Content not loading at all, content is choppy or lags, audio loads but video does not, other (please specify): not loading just the loading bar showing - but nothing is loading

    7. *new* What other browsers have you tried? Is the issue specific to Chrome? i have tried firefox also - same problem

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Tevin A 4/28/14 9:08 AM
I uninstalled Chrome and cleared my cache and now Flash is working properly. I tried the same in Firefox but no such luck.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? DylanParrin 4/28/14 11:57 AM
I've been having the same issue. But in another thread which one of your guys has just locked due to it being a duplicate before being redirected here, to a place that doesn't answer the question since in my thread I explained how everything here is what I've done.

Thanks Chrome, it was fun, but I can't be without Flash for any longer. Moving over to Safari.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Micah Stupak 4/28/14 12:24 PM
I, too, had a thread about OS X that got locked and labeled as a duplicate of this one. Can someone from Google please address why?
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? DylanParrin 4/28/14 12:34 PM
This is unbelievable that Google is addressing this issue like this. I think it's bigger than we know. Never had any problems with Google before this, seriously starting to have doubts. What's worst is the fact that I've let Google take over everything, work and personal. Without fully working Chrome on Mac OSX I'm pretty screwed. Having to deal with Safari now. But Flash is required so I have no choice.

If someone at Google actually cares, why are you closing our MAC OSX related topics and directing them here?

This solution worked for me for "could not load shockwave" error.

    Chrome Version: 34.0.1847.131
    Flash Version: 13,0,0,206

    Go to chrome://plugins/
    I found two 13.0 r0 versions.
I noticed the 13,0,0,206 is named "out-of-process" for some reason.
I disabled it and everything started working again.

Correction, the 13.0.0.206 was the one marked out-of-process.  I wrote that backwards...just look at the screen grab.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? ALB1234 5/2/14 1:48 AM
I never had any issues related to Flash content (YouTube, Hulu) until just a couple of days ago.  Tonight I disabled the pepperflash plugin and reinstalled the default Adobe plugin but that didn't help.  I just tried enabling the Always Allow.  I was able to have videos play for over an hour continuously on Hulu, which I haven't been able to do for more than 5-10 minutes since this problem started.  One thing I did differently this time though is I did not go full screen with the video.  When I did, the problem surfaced within 2-3 minutes.  I usually try to load the highest quality (1080p or 720p) available on YouTube and go full screen.  I will have to try YouTube again without going full screen to see if it makes a difference.  I had the Chrome Task Manager open while my videos were playing normally tonight from Hulu.  Once the problem occurred I saw that the CPU % for Chrome and Shockwave went through the roof when it was playing all choppy and stuttering.  Before the problem, the CPU usage was low, of course.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? mattrbailey 5/6/14 1:23 PM
I have had an issue at work for the last week or two. Machines that ran you tube, suddenly stopped working. An error on the video said "an error has occurred, please try again later".

After lots of testing on multiple machines it seemed Chrome was fine and it wasn't related to user permissions. All other browsers had the issue.

My work around was to install the you tube HTML player, https://www.youtube.com/html5?gl=GB. As soon as this was installed it worked fine on every account.

The good thing is it seems to be a single install per computer. Anyone can then logon.

Oh and it has just happened on my mac at home. I used the same fix and all seems ok.

Flash version causing the issue is 13.0.0.206 as far as I can tell. HTML 5 is the further though, I wouldn't mess around downgrading or uninstalling flash, just install the HTML 5 Player.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? ALB1234 5/7/14 1:21 AM
    I finally solved my problem.

First, I truly did believe it was Chrome and/or Flash causing all of my problems as the video playback was ONLY interrupted when I would play back YouTube videos.  If I played any movies from my local hard drives, which are .MKV containers with H.264 or XVID encodes, the movies would play fine.

I thought it was the pepperflash plugin because so many people were having problems with it and it did seem that disabling that plugin and re-installing the full Adobe plugin from their website improved the playback a bit, but the problem persisted.

Finally, I decided to roll back my NVIDIA video display driver.  I was running the most current Geforce 335.23 driver and it is WHQL certified.  I went to their older drivers section and installed the Geforce 327.23 driver as a clean install.  I should also say that it did replace my HD Audio driver as well with a slightly older version.  Anyway, since then I have had ZERO playback issues with YouTube videos.  They play fine in the standard small window and full screen at 1080p.

My Sony VAIO laptop has a GeForce 330M video card - in case anyone else has this card and is experiencing the same problem.  It looks like the video driver is probably the main culprit, or at least a very big part of the problem.

Normally, I would investigate my device drivers immediately when problems begin but this problem seemed so specific - it was only YouTube videos that were stuttering/freezing/de-syncing/crashing my machine.  And they varied in intensity.  The logical thing, at least to me, seemed to blame something happening inside that web browser.

    Good luck to everyone!
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? JustAguy4fun 5/8/14 9:44 AM
I would like to share some information that may help folks out on this front. I was having the same issue (could not load shockwave flash in chrome), and it started earlier this week.  I tried everything I stumbled across on the 'inter-tubes' (disabled different versions, un/re-installed, downgraded, etc) - to no avail. This was a work computer I was working on. I just received word from corp IT team that a program 'EMET 4.1' (rolled out to all users to mitigate against recently discovered IE vulnerabilities) could be uninstalled as a native IE patch was rolled out. It dawned on me that _THIS_ program could possibly be causing the flash issues in Chrome.  Sure enough - uninstalled, and viola - Flash working like a champ again.

So keep in mind of the most recently installed *anything* - and immediately suspect that as the culprit. I typically do that, but didn't know our corp IT team had rolled out software. I don't know if that helps - but thought I would share.

    Cheers!

I noticed this problem about a week ago and uninstalled Chrome for a day and started using Internet Explorer. I don't have this issue with IE but I re-installed Chrome and I still have the prob;em that videos wont load in any web page. Any other content on web pages will load but not the video. What can I do to solve this problem? I like Chrome better than IE, please help me out!

I've had almost the same issue. I have checked the plug-ins as well, and everything seems to be fine.
When I try to play the video, it loads and everything, but the sound doesn't work. I've also checked my speakers as well.
When there is an ad before the video, there's sound, but the video itself will not play.

I too am having the same problem and disabling the flash player seem too work.

    Chrome Version:  Version 35.0.1916.114 m
    Flash Version:     latest
    OS                     vista
    First Issue:         about a week
Flash video:        its just one site that uses flash i've checked with other computers works fine.

the content isn't loading at all the video screen pops up but the gets greyed out (can still see the background video player). i do know there should be an advertisement that plays before the video but even that isn't loading. i believe thats the problem for my case.

again i tried disabling the flash player for this video and it seems to work going to test other sites to see if i can still watch videos with flashplayer disabled.

    >25% of all video's do not load at all. I have tried using a windows 8 and a windows 7 pc. I have tried with both Chrome and Explorer. Everything is up to date. I have tried clearing my cache and cookies. I have tried resetting to the default settings. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the browser. None of the "fixes" in the help center work. As a last resort I tried running Chrome in Windows 8 mode. Chrome is now unusable because 2-3 inches of the browser on the right of the screen and the bottom of the screen are now black and not accessible and I cannot undo the windows 8 mode. You guys have really made a royal mess of YouTube. It is essentially unusable. In addition that bug with Chrome in windows 8 mode completely breaks your software.

    5)  Anything that moves - games in Facebook, gmail, Google Calendar, YouTube Videos, essentially anything that has video or graphics in it.  Doesn't happen in .pdf's or non-moving web pages.
    6)  Content not loading unless Flash is forced closed; If sorta/kinda working, video and audio lag, mouse becomes glacial in movement
    7) IE works fine.  I only find this in Chrome.

Ryan I SO totally agree with you!!! I also did EVERYTHING Sarah from google suggested and NOTHING working!!  I have high speed, I have TONS of available space, all my cookies, cache etc cleared it does NO good! I have ALL the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Adobe Flash, so its a crock to send us all on a wild goose chase, when Google KNOWS exactly what the problem is!  I believe this is a direct result of Google, Youtube merger not long ago!  Sadly in our world big corporations gobble up others and then the control freak status begins.  It basically boils down to Google is limiting the amount of usage it allows Centurylink (that I know of) and possible other ISP's also!   There was a time in our world when businesses 'cared' about happy or contented consumers BUT not anymore, its strictly about who has the biggest bank account, and who has the most power, we are simply the collateral damage among big corporations!  Its REALLY odd that you can access almost every single youtube video from here  http://www.unblock-proxy.net/  as it is similar to browsing incognito, SO google does not recognize your IP and allows signal to go thru!  Hope this helps until these big corporations decide to start acting like adults instead of children on a playground fighting over who has the biggest toy!

In the annals of comment threads I have been part of on the internet, this is one of the least helpful ones I have ever seen. It's bad enough that other users are frustrated and annoyed, but Google forced Mac users into this thread about Windows, which is even worse, as it shows they're not even paying attention to users' systems. <eyeroll>
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? De Mo 6/9/14 7:54 PM
Go check Vevo and Vimeo videos!  EVERY single video will play, it is only a youtube / google issue!!  It is not a computer issue, it is not a flash issue, it is not a browser issue, it is a Google issue and they obviously would rather send everyone on a wild goose chase, than to fix the problem!
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? DylanParrin 6/9/14 10:40 PM
Unfortunately you're wrong. The reason Vimeo and some others work is due to a HTML5 fallback they have in place... Right-click a video on Vimeo and you'll see that Flash isn't being used. It's literally a Flash on Chrome issue. Oh, and I still have the issue almost two months later.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? De Mo 6/10/14 10:55 AM
Micah actually what it means is they are "attempting" to fix a problem!  And if you would simply research a little bit you might find out this problem DOES
affect several other providers, it just so happens that Centurylink is a major provider across the country SO it stands to reason, there will be a lot of complaints
from Centurylink customers!!  Centurylink obviously is NOT going to fix 'your' problem!
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Micah Stupak 6/10/14 11:06 AM
Hey, you're the one who said it was a CenturyLink issue and that we were all wrong for suggesting otherwise. It was your generalization.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? De Mo 6/10/14 11:06 AM
Dylan are YOU for real?  And maybe you do or don't know what CLink is, on the off chance you do not, it is CenturyLink and they are a major provider
across the country!  That being said, my point with "know it all" comment was you were telling me it was a chrome flash problem which NO it is not!
And if you are experiencing the same issue as the rest of commenters here, why are'nt you addressing it with "chrome flash" to fix it!  The vast majority
of comments here ARE Centurylink customers and it appears to me from this thread that a LOT care about Centurylink!  The customer service email may
not be "the fix" but it is a step in the right direction!  It also beats your sarcasm, as I did NOT say "I" would or could resolve everyones problem!!  It is a
place to begin, to get it hopefully resolved!!!
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? De Mo 6/10/14 11:20 AM
Peace Micah!!!  For the majority of post and comments here it IS a centurylink issue, if it did not apply to you then why did you even
reply?  I was addressing the majority here who ARE Centurylink customers!  And you were one of the few that "suggested otherwise"
I came here to hopefully read AND post comments that could help ANY of us!  Peace Micah
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? DylanParrin 6/10/14 11:20 AM
De Mo, you must be new to the internet. Let me break it down for you...

The title of this thread is "Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos?"
I see no mention of CLink there - Just because "many" people mention this ISP, does not mean that the thread all of a sudden changes it's topic to this.

I do not know who CLink are because I don't even live in the US! You do realise that there is a world outside of the United States? With a whole load more ISPs...

THIS IS A CHROME/FLASH PROBLEM. THAT IS ALL. YOUR ISP DOES NOT BLOCK FLASH.

The email you're talking about is irrelevant, this goes way beyond the US and Centurylink, it is just a PR email, it does not mean anything, it does not resolve anything. This discussion is irrelevant. The fix needs to be applied by Google and Google only.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? De Mo 6/10/14 11:38 AM
Dylan let me break it down for you!  I am NOT new to the internet and we ALL came here because of a common issue ~ I simply don't see the need for the insults
and or sarcasm!  Peace to you!

    Chrome Version: 35.0.1916.114 m

    Flash Player Version: 13.0.0.214

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Basic

I first noticed it about two, three weeks ago.

I can watch flash animations on Newgrounds, but Youtube videos only load half the time, and on some other sites, every 1/10 videos actually manages to load. I can watch Netflix, however, I've been getting weird 'let's try that again' messages that I haven't gotten before, which seems to be happening around the same time that this YT problem started.

Content doesn't load at all; some videos load, but refreshing the page never fixes the ones that don't. I've cleared history, reset browser, reconnected the router, used ccleaner, checked for viruses, done every simple fix you can think of.

This problem is the same on Chrome and Firefox. I would very much appreciate a solution.

    Dylan is right.
I am a CLink customer for many many years (back when I was on qwest and it was taken by clink). But seriously ppl - common sense must prevail here - among the massive websites from gaming to porn, from all types of media of images to video's, CLINK choose to block random youtube videos? c'mon. If you don't know - DON'T POST. You waste our time here for us coming to find out why this is failing.

I watch everything from music, gaming and sometimes magic - and out of everyone of those I used to watch without a hitch, as of two days ago, random ones no longer work, example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MteSlpxCpo  I used to watch alot - (amazing video by the way at 72mill views as of this post), and then POOF it decides not to work anymore - Just like that. Gaming trailers and walkthroughs I was just watching the day before STOPPED.
and I cannot find a pattern of why some videos work and others do not. There is no difference in what browser I use (chrome, FF, Safari, Opera etc.. I have them all for times like this to test, but FF is my meat and potatoes)

Accusing ANY ISP of blocking youtube vids, i would be in suspect of the poster. That's just guessing.
Here is my CLink DSL connection speed (yes thats DSL NOT cable)
    http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3556222627
as you can see - it's not throttled, and being DSL it is NOT shared, nor does it suffer the "peak hour usage" that cable users do - and no, over half the videos I was watching the other day, still do not work.

With all that said. here is the one thing I noticed that I did different
My system updated (win7 64bit) yesterday - I don't know how that happened. I prob clicked ok on something. I rarely update to avoid situations such as this. ALL OF my browsers are up to date, I did 3 uninstall, then reinstall flash player. All my java apps are up to date. Yet when the system came back online after the windows update, youtube started to act weird.

I still believe this is a Google and/or a windows 7 update issue. As  I went to dailymotion.com, who uses the same format as youtube, but not owned by google, and all the videos work just fine. I went to several other "Youtube clones" and all those videos work fine as well. ONLY youtube seems to suffer.

For those of you having issues, go to the other sites mentioned above, and you'll see your flash player is working fine. It seems to be a youtube thing.

    Hey Sarah,

Chrome is crashing when reading any youtube video, and it never did that 1 month ago.

    1. Version 35.0.1916.153 m
    2. 14.0.0.125
    3. Crash on Mac OS Maverick, Win7 64, I could test on Debian Wheezy.
    4. 2-3 weeks ago.
    5. So far only youtube is crashing.
    6. A first chunk of buffer loads, 5-6seconds of video, then the plugin crashes, the video restart back from where it was, then video will freeze. No matter where I put the slider, the video will still be frozen on the same frame.
    7. Internet Explorer is working nicely... I'd hate to go back to this browser.
    Help!!!

    Dear Google/Chrome forum,

Do you know any updates on how the lag problem with flashplayer can be resolved?
To my understanding Google/Chrome recommend to use the Pepper plugin with the Macromed plugin disabled.

    Your Chrome Version: 36.0.1985.125
    Your Flash Version: 14.0.0.145 (pepflashplayer.dll)
Your operating system: Windows 7 SP1
When you first noticed the issues: Several month ago
    Areas affected: CPU performance
Your symptoms: Lag in Flash games when I also run youtube/HTML5
What other browsers have you tried: none.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? trefrog 7/27/14 9:51 PM
this is really total shite. sorry, but I just can't listen to Rdio because you guys can't just give an audio thread priority. Is it that difficult? I don't know, maybe it is. I have NEVER had flash performance issues until PPAPI Flash, then at least I could disable it and use the external plugin. I can't believe you guys did that. I understand why, reduce the codebase and eliminate dependence on an ancient API... but this really wasn't ready for primetime. Do I seriously need an i3 or better just to listen to a simple audio stream? It's laughable. GAWD.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? tonymnace 7/28/14 3:17 PM
Why should we do all the work to fix this? I've tried most of these "fixes" and it still doesn't work right. Slows down, especially on Facebook. I've been using IE and might have to continue if Chrome isn't fixed. I don't have the time to fix it.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? James Heazlewood 7/28/14 8:29 PM
    My issue is the following:

Videos on Facebook and other websites (http://www.11secondclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=19978) seem to have the last few frames cut off at the end.

It seems to be an issue around Adobe Flash player as HTML5 players seem to work without issue.

This does not happen in any other web browser.

If you watch it in both Firefox and Chrome, you can see that the video pauses before the last few frames in Chrome only.

I have done the steps above to try and resolve the issue but it has not worked.

    My info:
    1) 36.0.1985.125 m
    2) You have version 14,0,0,145 installed
    3) Windows 7 SP 1
    4) about 11 months ago
    5) Not youtube (it uses HTML5 player) - only Flash player videos on some websites.
    6) stated above
    7) IE 10, Firefox, Safari

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? HabitAddict 7/31/14 9:38 AM
    Dylan,

It is actually possible for an ISP to disable streaming media such as Flash, e.g. if they are a nasty mobile phone provider who think you have used above a "fair" amount of data in the month.

I think maybe you are a bit harsh to DeMo but you are right in what you say.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? HabitAddict 7/31/14 9:39 AM
DeMo, if only certain browsers and videos are affected, it cannot be an ISP issue. Google has no control over what your ISP does anyway. This is a Google Product Forum so I suggest you contact your ISP with any concerns.

    Hi Sara Dee,

I posted months ago about Flash / Chrome issues and then again recently.

You send me to a page that said the Flash / Chrome issue had been resolved.  I disabled a second version of Flash I somehow have on my machine and did the other things you suggested but something wonky is still going on.  The issue is most pronounced when I go to the New York Times site.  I often receive a message:

And -- as promised -- it makes my whole computer run slow.

As an amusing aside I sent the tech people at NYT.com a note and one of them suggested it would be easier if I didn't go to their site.  I assume their bosses don't know about this "solution." :-)

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    In answer to your questions:

  • Your Chrome Version: 36.0.1985.125

  • Your Flash Version: 14.0.0.145

  • Your operating system: OSX 10.9.4

  • When you first noticed the issues: Maybe six or nine months ago

  • Areas affected - Flash video content, YouTube Flash content, all Flash content: Had YouTube problems in the past but these days it is just the "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player to run slowly ..." (see above) even though I don't try to run a movie -- i just go to that website.

  • Your symptoms? Content not loading at all, content is choppy or lags, audio loads but video does not, other (please specify): The error shows, the computer slows, I abort the script and it goes away until it comes back.

  • *new* What other browsers have you tried? Is the issue specific to Chrome? Issue is specific to Chrome. I also use Firefox 31.0 and it runs this page just fine.

I've had it.  I'm switching back to Firefox.  Chrome users keep reporting issues with YouTube audio over and over and they get no help whatsoever.  You constantly blame Flash Player or some other software.  YET THERE IS NO PROBLEM IN FIREFOX OR IE, ONLY CHROME.  This has been going on for MONTHS.  WHY DO YOU NOT FIX WHATEVER IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM?  Chrome is GOOGLE'S BROWSER, and YOUTUBE is also a GOOGLE BRAND.  Why can't you get two of your products to work together reliably?

To fix Adobe Flash Player Errors, apply a professional Adobe error repair tool. It is recommended because manual repair method may harm system badly. If you want safe recovery of Adobe then apply the given tool.

    Hey Kailey.

I had not received a response and still have issues -- not very big these days but still strange and annoying.

Had to laugh at the previous post that said we should get "a professional Adobe error repair tool" -- yikes!  If our refrigerators worked like this Chrome / Flash stuff we'd all be sick with food poisoning

Can't help but think if the Google boys wanted to fix the issue and dedicated some resources it would be fixed overnight.  If it has been going on for months and months ...

As someone told me once -- if you pay for it you are the client but when you get it for free you are content!

I too have been a centurylink user since before they were centurylink.  I feel strongly that the same issues I am having are due to my service provider because I have checked everything else including many malware detectors and I only get the problem when I am home and on every computer/device I use on my network even my smartphone.  As soon as I stop using my home network everything works great.  Laptops on friends networks or at work are fine.  Phone works as soon as I turn off wifi.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? jperkys 9/26/14 1:31 PM
That could be due to the difference in HTML5 <video> formats that each browser natively supports through markup (HTML).

Could be... i've seen similar issues when trying to add h264 raw video files. Each browser has differing levels of support for these, some support mp4, webm, and other formats

I'm sure there are weird technical issues.  The thing I find strange is that Google knows and makes no real effort to fix.

If they can create a car that drives itself they certainly can fix a browser if they wanted to.  That Google Chrome can't mange Google's YouTube speaks volumes.

As I've quoted here before -- "if you pay for it you are the client, if you get it for free you are content."

The other thing they count on is people like me being too lazy to dump Chrome and use Firefox or Safari or ...

Hello. So, I have a Toshiba Satellite C855D-5351. I have updated all of my video card drivers and tried many other things related to fixing possible crashes related to graphics and adobe flash player. Just thought to get that out of the way before I state my problem

When I click on a youtube video I get for one second, a gray/black screen telling me I need to update flash player before I watch the video. But then the screen disappears, and the video loads. When I go click another video the browser freezes, then my computer, and then my screen flashes black, shuts down and restarts itself basically. Once it restarts I don't have any internet connection at all, and I have to shut down the computer and start it up again. I can play games, play music, everything else, but when it comes to youtube videos, it basically crashes when I click on another video.

At first I went to Adobe and tried installing their flash player, but that made things be the same if not even worse. I uninstalled the stand alone plugin as I read that it would be better to have the browser plugin on it's own. My internet connection is just fine as well.

There was, however, one time, one very odd, but miraculous time, where the computer was about to crash and restart, but then, somehow, it recovered. No restart, everything was just fine. I did get a little bubble pop up message from my applications that said that my Graphics card stopped working and then recovered. And I did try updating the graphics card, But this still kept on happening.

Again, I have tried updating my drivers, and I did, but nothing was the same. I am really out of ideas and it's really annoying to have to restart my computer multiple times.

    done
    • If you have more than one Flash plugin installed, please disable one version by going to  chrome://plugins, click on “Details” in the upper right corner, and “disable” under one of the two Flash plugins
    done
    • Load the content in Incognito mode to see if there is any improvement

After doing a lot of research i found out that the AdBlock extension installed in chrome is somehow preventing the videos from loading.
The moment i disable the AdBlock, the videos start loading normally.
And when i enable it, videos stop loading.
So, for these specific sites encountering video loading issue, i disabled the AdBlock.
    Everything is fine now.

    5. Youtube specific
    6. Pulling up a Youtube video from the "My Subscriptions" tab is causing the video to display the buffering circle while the video loads completely.
The audio and video do not play, and buffering does not stop.
This continues even if I try to open the video via the "What to Watch" tab if it has been opened before.
The only time this does not happen is when it displays, for a split second, the "Adobe Flash Player is receiving an error" black screen just before buffering for almost the same amount of time and beginning       the video.
    *  This issue is not present if the video was not opened from the "My Subscriptions" page.
    7. I've tried Internet Explorer and the issue does not persist.

Well its OCTOBER of 2014 and these issues have NOT been resolved at all. Chrome urgently needs some major programming help and debugging. I can't have Chrome open and then ANOTHER browser open if I want to watch youtube videos. Chrome needs to start getting their act together and not keep on offering patches and supposed "advice" to fix their defective programming. Its starting to act like Microsoft from many years ago...
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Comberrium 10/23/14 2:16 AM
There are currently two user solutions, but they are not perfect. They fix the video not loading error but create other problems.I'll list those and hopefully Google will find out what's wrong.

    Solution 1:
    Disable hardware acceleration.
To do this,go settings->advanced settings->remove the tick of hardware acceleration and restart browser.

The problem that comes with this solution is that you'll find many low resolution videos will be pixelated.

    Solution 2:
Go to your Chrome's installation folder and delete these two files:
    ffmpegsumo.dll
    nacl_irt_x86_64.nexe

The problem this solution brings is that around the second to fifth seconds of most videos will lose audio. Also forwarding or rewinding the video causes audio, and sometimes video loss.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Harry Singer 10/23/14 3:16 AM
So I fixed my issue. Chrome://Plugins, show all details: indicated that I had two Flash players active, V15.0.0.189 and V15.0.0.152. Disabling the second (V152) has sorted my issue for now, but I have no idea whether it will have any side-effects.

    7. *new* What other browsers have you tried? Is the issue specific to Chrome? It is specific to Chrome. The same videos work fine in IE.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Bruno Mota 10/25/14 1:18 PM

To me, it's an specific case. Yesterday, all was fine. I could see videos without a problem, but now there's something going on. When I go to youtube, if I pick any of the videos in the homepage, they work just fine, but when I go to my subscription and pick any of the videos, they won't load. Well, actually they do load since the load bar keeps increasing, but the video doesn't start. Instead, that grey circle just keeps spinning and there's no way to fix it. I've tried almost everything since a simple refresh to complete uninstall.

I have gone to IE on this same computer and the video works. Thinking it could be a chrome problem I went to my desktop and opened Chrome. I just went mad when the video loaded and played perfectly!

I have done all of the troubleshooting steps

If you are still having an issue, please try these troubleshooting steps, except the one that talkes about two Flash plugins since I don't have two, only one. Incognito mode dooesn't work. but HTML5 (despite not knowing what does that mean) works.

    1. Your Chrome Version: 38.0.2125.104 m

    8. Is the issue specific to Chrome? Only on my laptop

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Charles Tola 10/25/14 4:42 PM
My problem is that YouTube, as well as Vines and most .gif's will not play. The pages will load just fine, but for example in a YouTube video the entire video will load but the video will not play and will have the circle thing spinning.

    1) Chrome version 38.0.2125.104
    2) Adobe Flash version 15.0.0.189
    3) Windows 7
    4) This issue started two days ago
    7) Only happens in Chrome

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? xDominar 10/25/14 6:40 PM
    Exact same problem here.

It only seems to be happening on newly posted videos though. I can still seem to watch videos that are more than 1-2 days old, but anything posted on that day I cannot seem to watch.I saw a fix for this somewhere, but although it does fix YouTube, it makes Netxflix videos unable to be played in Chrome afterwards... grr. Anyways here it is, hope it helps:

    Go to Computer / C / Program Files (x86) / Google / Chrome / Application / 38.0.2125.104. Then, delete the files named "ffmpegsumo.dll" and "nacl_irt_x86_64.nexe"

Also, you can try going to Chrome://plugins/ to make sure you only have one Flash player on.

I have the exalt issue, except mine has been a week now. Only in Chrome, when I go to IE it works fine. I have tired disabling and restarting, I even reformatted my laptop (it worked but then after all the updates it starts happening again).
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? ivorytrance 10/26/14 9:26 AM
Both solutions work, however the main problems are a tad bit annoying.

Solution 1: The videos are not good quality, they are poor and choppy.
Solution 2: Some videos give an error prior to loading, poor quality as well.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Bruno Mota 10/26/14 12:43 PM
I didn't noticed that but it is true, only newly posted videos don't work, what could be the problem?

However, it will not load or play Netflix, xfinity comcast live streaming, or HBO GO. I have updated adobe Flash, checked content settings are on allow in Chrome and nothing has helped.      39.0.2171.95 - Chrome version
Adobe Flash Player (2 files) Version: 16.0.0.235
    Shockwave Flash 16.0 r0
up to date windows 7 64bit
first noticed the issue with specific game "idle evolution" on Newgrounds.com. about three weeks ago.
Now any website (including this forum) that uses flash will freeze or crash. Complete with "Plugin not responding error"
    Firefox works. so does IE.
Cleared cache in flash as well as chrome. Incognito does not help. just scanned for malware using malwarebytes and spybot. any more info needed please let me know.

    1. Your Chrome Version: 39.0.2171.95 m
    2. Your Flash Version: PepperFlash and the flash player installed on the computer both tried independently, both are version 16.0.0.235
    3. Your Operating System: Windows 7
    4. When you first noticed the issues: About 2 months ago
    5. Areas Effected: YouTube Flash content
    6. Your Symptoms: Anything that's 720p or lower, 30fps or lower plays fine, but anything that's 1080p or 60fps has choppiness to the point where it would be called freezing. The video doesn't stay running for more than half a second at a time and pauses for a few seconds at a time or more, and the audio cuts out.
    7. What Other Browsers: I've tried Firefox, and there's no issue there.

EDIT: I've managed to narrow down the problem to the buggy drivers for my even buggier sound card. Reinstalling them made the problem a little better, but it's still there. But still, 1080p video works just fine in Firefox, but not in Chrome, so it's an issue with Chrome specifically. 60fps doesn't work in Firefox, so I can't test that.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? CaptainBooboo 1/11/15 4:47 PM

    Hello!

For the last 48 hours I've been trying to watch Gotham on Fox.com from my iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2010)...no good.  I was just watching it earlier this week, and for some reason when I try now it only has a black window (no error message).  Videos won't play for me on NBC.com, Fox.com, or CBS.com on neither Chrome nor Safari nor Firefox.  Randomly, ABC.com DOES work across all fronts.

    Here is what I've tried:

    -Restarting computer

    -Refreshing constantly

    -Reinstalling Chrome / Firefox

    -Making sure Flash was updated

-Clearing all website data / caches / extensions

I even right clicked on the blank Fox video page, selected "Global Settings," and cleared all Local Storage Settings for Flash.  NOTHING!  I'm even starting to wonder if my roommate sabotaged my computer...that's how desperate I am on ideas.

    Here is my info:

    1) Chrome Version 39.0.2171.95 (64-bit)

    2) Flash Version 16,0,0,235 installed

    3) iMac (21.5 inch, Mid 2010) on OS X Yosemite 10.10.1

    4) I first noticed the issues on Friday (1/9/15)

    5) Areas affected: CBS.com, NBC.com, Fox.com, but...ABC.com DOES work.

    6) Content not loading at all.  I'm also noticing that it's hard for me to even open Fox.com, CBS.com, and NBC.com...I normally have to refresh a couple of times before a page even opens.  Youtube works fine.

    7) I've tried Chrome, Safari, and Firefox.  No luck.

    Thank you,

    Jalyssa

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Cassy Bug 1/27/15 12:10 AM
I know for a fact everything is up to date, I recently cleared my cookies, and after hearing that Chrome sometimes has problems with two flashes, disabled the one that I was told to disable, Now I am having a new problem. If I enable the Pepper Flash, that comes with Chrome and disable the one that comes with the computer itself, Games freeze, Well not really freeze, more like glitch, if you hover over the right spot it will show the new button, but other than that it does nothing useful and makes it impossible to play, If I disable the Pepper and enable the other, Videos refuse to play. if I leave both enabled, getting flash to work at all is impossible. Please help me. it is ONLY chrome that has this problem, and I would hate to have to get used to Firefox
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Scott123180 1/27/15 9:26 PM
    Problem
Okay, so I had this problem too, YouTube videos freeze and flash content does not work well. I tried resetting chrome, messing with the default flashes, and uninstalling and re-installing chrome. I even restored my computer back to a certain date (that worked for a while) I think it is a problem with conflicting plugins, because when i did the Google recommended advice, I disabled one and checked the box in chrome://plugins and went to incognito, videos played fine. Google chrome worked fine then, but I didn't want to continue that way for obvious reasons. My Google chrome worked when I first installed it, but now it didn't. Solution: GET RID OF GOOGLE CHROME COMPLETELY AND RE-INSTALL. Now, you can't just hit uninstall on Windows and expect everything to be fine, because windows never completely uninstalls a program. So you have to follow these steps if you are on windows. If you are not on windows, look up how to completely uninstall a program on your OS.

Solution (don't forget to read my symptoms)
    1. Read all of the instructions carefully first or you could risk damaging your computer
    2. Completely exit chrome (you need to go into task manager to close background applications and the crash handler)
    3. Uninstall chrome
4a. Go into your file directory and delete all of the files under program files, program files (x86), programData (you need to enable show hidden files and folders), and Users->your account -> AppData -> local Google WARNING: -If you have any other google apps installed, then all of these files could corrupt your other programs so make sure you only delete the chrome files.
4b. Optional: download a registry cleaner like Ccleaner and clean your registry files (basically if this doesn't work the first time, try redoing with this step
    5. added later: You need to uninstall adobe reader and/or adobe acrobat, they contain files that mess up chrome for some reason so get rid of them
    6. go to the google download website and download chrome
    7. Do a little cheer but also a little boo as Google needs to work out compatibility with adobe

    Update (READ THIS)
The problem persisted, so I added step 5 and my chrome has been working fine ever since. For some reason chrome conflicts with these files and shockwave flash crashes. Other non-adobe applications such as the MS reader do not interfere. with chrome, so you should be safe to install those.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Beth Kable 2/9/15 11:42 AM
Good luck with all of that! I only downloaded Chrome after these same exact issues with Firefox. Having Chrome for 1 month and hating it... guess what... SAME THING. It is does not what what you clean out, what registry cleaner you have, how many times you updat... it is freaking ADOBE that is the damn problem. Firefox users have the problem and so it happens here...the chrome white window of death...lol! Seriously, it is ridiculous. People need to start slamming freaking Adobe for absolute crap software!
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Beth Kable 2/9/15 11:45 AM
FIrefox users have the same problem, I switched to crappy Chrome because of the same problems. I hate using Chrome, my virus and malware programs don't quit since switching and is much slower. With that said, Chrome nor Firefox are the issue, it is ADOBE that is the problem!.

Chrome and YouTube have been working pretty well for me of late until ...

The latest weird event is whenever I click on a YouTube link the video starts with the audio muted.  No big deal, I just click un mute but annoying nonetheless.

    Having issues with flash videos
I am on Chrome version Version 41.0.2272.101 m
    Flash version 17.0.0.134
    Windows 8.

Started noticing earlier this week.  Trying to play videos embedded on a website.  The ad will play and then when it's time for the content to play I just get a spinning circle and the content never loads.    Often the first video or two will play with no issue, but the 2nd or third and beyond I get the issue.

#10 and #9 played with no issue, everything else on the list plays only the ad.
Noticed this on another site a few days ago too.

"I have done all the steps and still have an issue with SOME youtube videos while others play fine. What is going on?"
Must be a different issue than mine, my steps worked for me. It's odd too that a complete wiping of chrome from your computer had little effect. Perhaps you have some program other than flash or Adobe Reader/ Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer that is affecting the performance of chrome.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Elena Chiu 4/11/15 2:20 PM

    1. Your Chrome Version: 41.0.2272.118

    2. Your Flash Version: 17,0,0,134

    3. Your operating system: Mac, snow leopard

    4. When you first noticed the issues: Today

    5. Areas affected - Flash video content, YouTube Flash content, all Flash content: Only youtube videos.

    6. Your symptoms? Content not loading at all, content is choppy or lags, audio loads but video does not, other (please specify): The content will not load at all for any youtube video. There will be a black screen where the video is suppose to be and the loading circle will appear in the middle

    7. *new* What other browsers have you tried? Is the issue specific to Chrome?: The videos load on Firefox so I believe that the issue is specific to Chrome.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Kayde Evans 4/12/15 9:22 PM
I am experiencing these problems.  In response to your troubleshooting steps:

    1) Yes i have set this to Always Allow
    2) I have only one
    3) Makes no difference
    4) HTML5 on youtube works

Mine are the same as the other's below. Any video that requires flash will not play, the video will commence loading with the circular loading icon and then it completely freezes, along with Chrome. When I use some sites they say no HTML5 is found.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? stevenspray 4/17/15 3:04 AM
Disabling hardware acceleration in Chromes Advanced Settings menu sorted the problem with me.

I have the latest i& CPU with 16GB RAM and Windows 7 Pro so it's not like my setup cannot support it.

Hello guys, when I update google chrome to version 42, all the audio stream stoped. I can watch videos, but the sound is never played =[ It also happens when only streaming music (spotify, soundcloud...)

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Kimberly Rockwell 4/20/15 7:47 AM

f issues persist, let us know the following information:

    1. Your Chrome Version: Version 42.0.2311.90 m

    2. Your Flash Version: Version: 17.0.0.169

    3. Your operating system: Vista

    4. When you first noticed the issues: The problem appeared a week or so ago - has gotten MUCH worse

    5. Areas affected - Flash video content, YouTube Flash content, all Flash content: RANDOM flash content

    6. Your symptoms? Content not loading at all, content is choppy or lags, audio loads but video does not, other (please specify): Some flash won't load. Some loads but is very, very choppy

    7. *new* What other browsers have you tried? Is the issue specific to Chrome? Every other browser other than chrome works. All of them. Chrome is now no longer a functional browser since the internet runs on flash. Too bad.

I used to have the "two flashes" problem, and the only good solution was to disable the internal chrome version and enable the real, working adobe version. After the latest chrome update, some times I had to enable the icky chrome version and disable the other, especially in order to view embedded videos. Now as of yesterday, chrome has DELETED the true, working, functional version of flash and forced me to use their internal, inbred, barely functional version so now I have very little flash on chrome and what little I have is choppy.

Adobe is in the flash business. Not google. Please just get rid of your version and allow us again to use actual flash. This dollar-store knock-off has rendered chrome utterly useless.

PS - At the VERY least, use "go back" and just give up on this latest update. It doesn't work. Nobody likes it. On top of the thousands of users here who are posting problems, there are MILLIONS all over the internet who have broken flash. There comes a time when you have to accept defeat. Please do not render chrome useless. Until this horrorshow, you were the best browser out there. Now you are another useless icon on the desktop.

PPS - did you not beta test this AT ALL?

    6. Your symptoms? Content is choppy or lags, is very, very choppy

    7. *new* What other browsers have you tried? Opera works beautifully. Is the issue specific to Chrome? Yes. Every other browser other than chrome works. Only Opera tried

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Muz omar 5/16/15 7:23 PM
    Hi,

I've tried all the troubleshooting measures, including clearing my cache, updating my Chrome browser, reinstalling and updating Flash, disabling multiple versions of the Flash plugin, toggling hardware acceleration, and others. Youtube and all flash videos just do not play. They load fine (i.e. i can see the individual frames if I jump to a particular time in the video) but do not play.

If issues persist, let us know the following information:

    1. Your Chrome Version:  42.0.2311.152 m

    2. Your Flash Version: 42.0.2311.152 m

    3. Your operating system: Windows 8.1 64 Bit

    4. When you first noticed the issues: 3 weeks ago

    5. Areas affected - Flash video content, YouTube Flash content, all Flash content: All Flash content. Youtube and all flash videos just do not play.

    6. Your symptoms? Content not loading at all, content is choppy or lags, audio loads but video does not, other (please specify): They load fine (i.e. i can see the individual frames if I jump to a particular time in the video) but do not play. Videos work after I restart my computer, but stop working after some time.

    7. *new* What other browsers have you tried? Is the issue specific to Chrome? No, issue presents itself in Firefox. But in Firefox the video plays for a few seconds then stops. If I jump to another time in the video, it will keep playing, but stops after a few seconds. No sound.

Hope you guys can assist with this.

this is all great information for an IT pro, how do i get my 10,000 cutomers to do the same thing?  Do we see now how irrelevant most of these solutions are?  Can we please adopt one starndard browser tired of trying to get web pages work on 17 different browser and there's alwas one that does not work or looks like crap.  Trying to play a video on my site IE, will play if you select show unsecured content, chrome and FF act as if the video does not exist, so lame.

YouTube loads a few seconds, plays them, and stops to load some more. Started earlier today.
    vessel.com works fine with chrome.
Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.17801 works fine with YouTube.
Tried disabling all extensions and plugins, tried just flash plugin, tried a few different combinations of extensions plugins.
Started computer in custom startup so only things running were chrome and essential stuff.
    Restarted home network.
    Flushed DNS Cache.
    Installed/Uninstalled Chrome.
    Deleted all browsing data.
A few other tests/steps that include all recommendations I had patience left to find from Chrome and YouTube FAQ's.

    No Change.

    OS: Windows 7 64 bit
    Chrome: 43.0.2357.81 m
Internet connection is not a factor in this issue. Did own tests and research.

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Hileksel Tarmik 5/25/15 11:26 PM
Hey! Has something to do with google voice or hangouts.  Reinstalled chrome, restarted computer (yes, again) and YouTube worked perfectly until I tried to make a phone call.
Doesn't matter if it's app, extension, or just from the google+ page.
Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? Hileksel Tarmik 5/26/15 2:32 AM
Nope, issue returned without any hangouts.

    Hi,
similar issue: videos on you tube load but not play. I tried what you suggested, but nothing worked
    • Go to chrome://plugins and check “Always Allowed” under the Flash plugin ---> done
    • If you have more than one Flash plugin installed, please disable one version by going to  chrome://plugins, click on “Details” in the upper right corner, and “disable” under one of the two Flash plugins ---> done
    • Load the content in Incognito mode to see if there is any improvement ---> done
    • If your issue is on YouTube only, try the HTML5 player: http://www.youtube.com/testtube ----> done
    • Try to reset your Chrome browser settings ---> done
I tried also other sultions like disable and re-enable Flash player plugin, to re-install the flash player.
    Any other suggestion?

    Thanks!

Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? nedimx232 6/13/15 3:10 PM
    SOLUTION!

If your flash video doesn't work on chrome, and possible on other browsers, you see loading.. you just have to  to open internet explorer and then:

internet explorer option > Connection > LAN settings - And uncheck all from Proxy settings.

That should be it, but for start don't exit internet explorer and try to open flash video.

Got the solution to Flash not working !  Change to Maxthon browser or some other browser and problem goes away.  There is probably a way to make it work with Chrome,  but like all Google products, they may have hidden the essential control button in favor of a simple, uncluttered web page.
