| Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Sarah Dee | 8/26/15 7:30 PM | Hi All, UPDATE With the latest update to Chrome, certain types of plugins, known as NPAPI plugins, will no longer be available. You may be running the Adobe Flash which is an NPAPI plugin. You should disable it by following these steps, and get in touch with the site manager to ask them to update their version of flash to one that does not put your computer at risk. The reason being that NPAPI is outdated and an unsecured technology. Please visit our blog posts to see why: Saying Goodbye to NPAPI, the Final Countdown for NPAPI, NPAPI deprecation: developer guide. Plugins that use a newer, more secure system called Pepper API (PPAPI) will continue to work, including those that come with Chrome, like Adobe Flash and PDF Viewer. If Flash or PDF doesn’t automatically load, make sure that you have the PPAPI plugin version enabled in Chrome. Chrome is working to keep you safe :) ORIGINAL POST: Several issues with flash were resolved in the newest version of Chrome (33). If you are experiencing issues with Flash, please confirm that you are on the latest version of Chrome and on the latest version of Flash---right-click on Flash content and select “About Adobe Flash” or visit this link. We have identified several other issues with Flash, so please check if the issue you are experiencing matches one below:
If you are still having an issue, please try these troubleshooting steps:
For all users on Windows XP and Windows Vista if you are experiencing YouTube videos that are choppy, it may be because hardware acceleration is no longer supported for these machines as of Chrome 32. One potential workaround is to enable a flag. Type chrome://flags/#ignore-gpu-blacklist in your omnibox (address bar) and enable the flag, please note this is just a workaround and may lead to stability issues or not work at all. If issues persist, let us know the following information:
Thank you! | ||||||||||
| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Matt Beatt | 2/27/14 12:09 AM | Hello, I am experiencing these problems. In response to your troubleshooting steps: 1) Yes i have set this to Always Allow 2) I have only one 3) Makes no difference 4) HTML5 on youtube works My symptoms are as follows - any video that requires flash will not play, the video will commence loading with the circular loading icon and then it completely freezes, along with Chrome. I can kill the chrome windows via task manager, however one thing i have noted is that when this issue occurs there is always a chrome process running that uses exactly 13% of the processor and that will not end unless i use a special process killer to do so. After this issue occurs any attempt to relaunch a browser and browse the internet, even using IE results in my whole PC freezing and having to force a power cycle. Information 1. Chrome Version:33.0.1750.117 m 2. Which ever version of pepper flash ships with the above product. The file version is: 12.0.0.70 3. Win7 x64 4. Two days ago. However i have been on vacation for over a month, so not sure thats the greatest indicator. 5. All flash content - i mostly notice it on video, but advertisements cause the same issue i have noticed also 6. As described above | ||||||||||

Google Hangouts keeps crashing. Not having a working Flash plugin makes everything slow to load, if it will load at all. Started noticing this around the same day that Comcast made the news when they started charging Netflix for transport services. Supposedly Netflix service was fixed, but this is still happening. My ISP is MediaCom.

Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | JesperA | 2/28/14 9:05 AM | After updating to Chrome 33 (Mac OSX Version 33.0.1750.117) im not able to go to pages with videos like this: Hitting play on any video will make the whole window/tab freeze for 10-30 sec and most often I get the Pop-up-window saying that I have to kill this window. I have seen this on webpages with no video as well. It is like a huge Garbage Collection that takes forever is triggered.
| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | nicholas foley | 2/28/14 8:06 PM | Set to always allowed, still provides the error "could not load shockwave flash". I first experienced these issues after the recent upgrade to v33. I am impacted by seemingly all flash content, Youtube (switching to HTML5 corrected the errors), Facebook, and Adobe's tests. Adobe Flash simply does not load at all, with the stated error.

But this is not optimal i suppose so here is a description of my case : Flash version : 12.0.0.70 OS : Windows XP sp3 First noticed : More than a year ago. Areas affected : Flash video content, youtube and others. Not on every video, mostly the ones with high resolution. Almost all SD videos play fullscreen. Symptoms : Video not able to show in fullscreen. Most of the times, the video window is limited to the top left corner, leaving the rest of the area empty. Sometimes also video stops playing while audio still playing. Screen shot :

| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | nasser gostar | 3/4/14 12:43 PM | Adobe and Flash. We don't have a problem with Adobe and Flash installed by the company, but we have a problem with unauthorized Third Party in our PC. I don't know what they are trying to establish in our computer, but whatever they do causes us problems with Adobe and Flash because most of the news video says "to watch this video you should have Flash and to download Flash." I know I had Flash a few weeks ago, but suddenly I lost the Flash icon on my screen. It is very difficult for us to describe issue by issue professionally, by technical name, product by product. All I can say myself and my wife are not able to use Google tools. We cannot create one page required by Youtube and Facebook because we don't know how to do that. Unfortunately, in this point I have to inform you that Third Party changed having access to my passwords, and I saw the Third Party asked Google to have access to data to change or edit my account, and I also read that the Third Party request was denied by Google. The bad thing is one person in the Third Party has the same last name as mine. I lost lots of programming and lots of things like Google Earth, chat room, My Office and many other services provided by Google worldwide. This opportunity has been provided by Google to everyone. In 2012 the Third Party broke something in my computer. The trouble shooter said they broke your dock. After weeks of work by the trouble shooter to fix the problem, I finally had to order the new disk until they reprogrammed my computer. That takes at least four months that we were unable to use our computer. We were advised not to unplug the computer because we might lost the entire data. One incident in which Google pointed out about misusing tools was during the time our computer was inactive by us. The Third Party used a White Page and connected us to an unknown site. My PC is loaded with unknown dangerous software by unknown publisher. The Third Party has been in my computer for 2+ years. Forgive me for writing so much. This is the first time I have had an opportunity to report my problem because anytime I try to use "Safety" or "page to report" one-half of my screen becomes disabled with colorful vertical lines and my mouse becomes disabled. Do you think I should trash my computer and buy a new one? Is this a lost cause? | ||||||||||
| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Sarah Dee | 3/4/14 1:47 PM | @jeck77 Pepperflash should be bundled in automatically. Can you try pressing the checkbox next to "Details" in the top right hand corner so there is a "-" next to "Details." It may be halfway down the page. Let me know if you still don't have it and if you could provide a screenshot that would be great. @nasser gostar Can you try resetting your Chrome browser settings? If that doesn't help, please go through your program files and uninstall any programs you do not recognize. We're happy to help you identify potentially malicious programs so feel free to post those in this thread. | ||||||||||

| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | tbakke | 3/5/14 9:55 PM |
I have done "chrome:plugins" and in addition to pepflashplayer.dll i also have NPSWF32_12_0_0_70.dll . I have tried disabeling one of them, the other one than first tried, enabling both.. When enabling only pepflash some videos work, some don't.. Same goes for enabling the NPSWF-file instead of the pepflash, but sometimes other videos that didn't crash with NPSWF will crash with pepflash.. Enabling both sometimes work, sometimes not.. THIS IS AN ERROR IN CHROME. There is no way around it. Every single page I am experiencing problems with work absolutely fine in other browsers (have tried firefox, opera, IE). Does anyone have the link to an earlier version of Chrome that didn't have this issue? I've tried reinstalling without any luck, so I want to try and do a rollback on the version number to a version where things actually worked, and disabling auto update. You know something's wrong when people are afraid of having auto update turned on.. :P

Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Demétrio Soares | 3/6/14 5:04 AM | Hello, Yesterday had this idea/revelation...it's still slow but functioning somewhat: Peperflash is made For Google Chrome...right? They make updates for it according to each new version of Chrome so they work well together. So why turn Pepperflash off...? Instead i turned it back on, just on google chrome, and turned Macromedia's off: just in google chrome. Now all i will do is check if Chrome is updated, and the new errors will be just Chrome development related, no more "excuses" if it fails it's all you.

Example: Besides the aforementioned YouTube bug problems... When I listen to the following song in Chrome, I have all the audio problems mentions. When I listen to it in Firefox, I have zero issues. This is definitely a problem with your latest Chrome build and not, as someone below sarcastically put it, a problem with using NPAPI version of Flash instead of the built-in. Note: I enabled PepperFlash and had the same exact problems.

| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Jherara | 3/9/14 9:25 PM | Additional Note: HTML5 Video Player videos seem to be having the most problems. I tried the video changeover and that did nothing to fix the problem. Video lagging still also takes place with any type of flash video whenever I open new tabs or open pages that use a lot of resources. I don't know what changes were made with the last version update, but Chrome has become an even greater resource hog than it was previously and for the life of me I can't think of any reason that it should be taking up so many resources. Seriously, if adding new UI elements caused all of this, then maybe it's time to switch back to the previous build. I switched from Firefox to Chrome years ago because it used to be easy to use and fast. Now? Not so much. | ||||||||||

| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Your Mapper | 3/10/14 11:14 AM | I have some info that might help out. It seems to create this black screen issue only when the video is in HD, in Flash. For example, if you embed a YouTube video, say at size 360p, on a page and view it, it works fine. If you then add the unsupported vq=720hd parameter, the video doesn't play and has a black screen. Based on other comments, it might be related to hardware accelleration kicking in, which could be part of the issue. | ||||||||||

| Re: Issues with Flash? One potential workaround is to enable a flag. Type chrome://flags/#ignore-gpu-blacklist in your omnibox (address bar) and enable the flag, please note this is just a workaround and may lead to stability issues or not work at all. @mari jung, There are a couple of bugs that match some of your symptoms. If you are experiencing this issue, please try turning off HD. @TGilbert, Just to clarify, flash content is working in an incognito tab? This hints to potentially an extension interfering with your flash. Can you try disabling all of your extensions and see if it works in a regular browser tab? Could you also let us know if you have any anti-virus software. @Jarren Ong Could you also resetting your Chrome browser settings? The snap.do adware may have to do with the flash issues. | Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Spencer S. | 3/12/14 2:09 PM | @Sarah, Yeah, my problem is different....I couldn't find ANYTHING remotely close to addressing this when I googled it though! To answer your questions....First, I am using a laptop (an HP EliteBook). It IS a touch-screen, but I never use that....just the finger pad and keyboard. Second...No, this issue doesn't happen with every video; it occurs only with certain videos (I'd say roughly 50% of those that I try to view...albeit, that is a small sample size). I can't seem to pick up on a pattern as to which videos it will happen on. So, here's a couple links to some sample videos: 1) This video works properly....I can fast-forward and rewind as intended: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lGrARvsuD0 2) This video does not work properly....Whenever I try to fast-forward, the video starts over. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zh2fl5463BE Thanks again for your help; sorry I had to catch you on the wrong thread! | ||||||||||

| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Spencer S. | 3/12/14 7:54 PM | @Sarah, Hi Sarah. Yes, I'm pretty sure it is a Chrome issue, because I've tried the same exact videos (that malfunction in Chrome) in FF and IE, and the fast-forward works properly. I've cleaned out my cache, I've messed around with the hardware acceleration (trying the videos with it disabled/enabled), changed the resolution, un-installed and then re-installed Adobe Flash....nothing seems to make a difference and I'm out of ideas! | Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Kurtbot1000 | 3/14/14 11:43 AM | Have tried all of the workarounds noted in this thread. The Flash and Hangouts, Chrome plugins, keep crashing. The first tab within my Chrome browser is able to navigate the web. Subsequent tabs do not even try to navigate if a URL is specified. Just kind of sit there. If I close the brower entirely and open a new one the first tab is still the only one that can navigate. Only happens on my Vista box. IE works somewhat better however it has issues with trying to launch new tabs as well. Have reinstalled Chrome multiple times, toggled the flag for hardware acceleration (no help), also tried disabling Async DNS (no help), disabled/enabled/always-allowed the Flash plugin. No joy. Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | baverill | 3/14/14 11:49 AM | I've given up and uninstalled Chrome, Canary, etc. It's back to Firefox for me until Google can figure out how to get back to a stable browser. I posted on Facebook asking if any friends with Macs had the same issue and 4 people responded within an hour saying that they had uninstalled as well. Looks like this is a fairly common problem. Good luck everyone. | ||||||||||

| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Talon86 | 3/17/14 8:29 AM | This update has ruined chrome for me. It's not just the flash, but lots of stuff. I've done all the steps you've suggested and certain things just won't work. The flash plug-in was bad...I can disable flash, but still some problems persist. For example, right click and save-as takes hours (appears to not work, but will get the dialogue box literally hours later and if I close chrome, it says downloads in progress). I've gone back to Explorer for now. Fix chrome please. Latest chrome version: 33.0.1750.154 m SHockwave Flash: 12.0 r0 Windows 8.1 touch enabled First noticed immediately after chrome update Areas affected: some flash, web pages with "buttons" like most vBulletin forums, inability to save files, pages never completely loading Explorer works perfectly and all of these pages I'm having difficulty with are "daily" pages I frequent, well, daily. ;) Something in the chrome update has gone wonky. I even uninstalled chrome and reinstalled it fresh. No help. If I disable flash completely, most things work, but not all (and obviously nothing with flash). | ||||||||||

Chrome has been updated several times since then, but the problem is still there. Areas affected: all Flash content, all audio content Symptoms: Audio is bad (really choppy and distorted) when playing youtube videos or any audio stream (i.e. soundcloud, bandcamp). Video lags and plays slower than normal, and at low quality only. Audio and video seem better in incognito mode, but not if there's more than one tab open. Audio of external apps seems to be affected if chrome is on: both audio in vlc and spotify is choppy if chrome is on. It seems slightly better if certain tabs (i.e. facebook, gmail) are kept in background. Scrolling a page often triggers choppy audio also in external apps.
| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Syberia | 3/19/14 1:52 PM | Google needs to get its act together. Every time I launch it, it redownloads things that mess up YouTube. If the video is lagging, or the audio is choppy, there are two solutions I've found that work. First. disable the Pepper Flash plugin. Second, delete ffmpegsumo.dll. That file causes some YouTube videos to play in HTML 5, even if you have that option disabled on YouTube. These things redownload every time you relaunch, though. | ||||||||||

Your symptoms? | Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Trev Law | 4/21/14 12:22 PM |
Your Flash Version: Version: 13.0.0.182 Your operating system: Windows 7 64bit When you first noticed the issues: 4/20/14 Areas affected - Flash video content, Adobe Air Content, Streaming Advertisements and video Your symptoms? Seems to be adobe flash, or adobe products only. Day before yesterday everything was working fine, perfect FPS. Open my browser yesterday a video loads completely, plays for 3-15 secdonds and then stops. I am able to browse through the movie when given the option as well as see frames within the video, however am unable to get it to play. Tried doing a clean uninstall of flash to no avail. Adobe air also stopped working(i use it with pandora one desktop app). Tried uninstalling and re installing that as well. I might also note I just did a full reformat of the computer and all windows updates have been updated, I did not do the reformat to correct this problem, but am only seeing it now after it has been done. I have also since tried uninstalling and reinstalling chrome fresh, it does nothing. What other browsers have you tried? Is the issue specific to Chrome? I tried viewing the content in IE as well to see if the problem was the same, it was, however internet explorer tells me my flash player is out of date. I will be checking to see if updating via IE works now.
| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Trev Law | 4/21/14 6:22 PM | Hey guys I fixed my issue... If yours is similar to the one posted right above this one then your problem may be a USB device. My device happened to be a logitech G35 headset plugged into a USB device in the back of the computer. It may still be a hardware issue with my motherboard or simply the G35 itself. After updating the driving and finding the correct drivers from logitech all videos are loading just fine. My suggestion is tinker with your AUDIO if your issue was like mine. Hope this helps anyone else looking for a solution. - Trevor | ||||||||||

| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | jayessemm | 4/24/14 9:21 AM | Tevin, Famous last words but ... I downloaded the latest Flash direct from the Adobe site and everything seems okay. I was too lazy to do that complete remove / unistall / reinstall and just downloaded whatever version of Shockwave Flash Adobe said and everything works for now. But I know there is a general issue that ain't getting fixed. My son -- with way more computer knowledge and patients than I -- who uses a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.9 finally gave up on Chrome and now switched to Safari. Me I'd sorta like to see Chrome get working. Good luck. | ||||||||||

| Re: Issues with Flash? I didn't delete the file related to this issue, but I renamed it AND the problem miraculously disappeared. LOL I used to love Chrome. Now? I'm tolerating it while I test other browsers. I have no desire to go back to IE or use Firefox every day. Just need to find one that's fast and easy to use. | ||||||||||
| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Micah Stupak | 4/25/14 11:21 AM | Hi, I posted an issue I was having with Chrome and Flash, but I'm on OS X, not Windows (which I specified in my post), nor do I have any other Flash plugins (which I also specified), but since somebody at Google apparently wants me here... <shrugs> Your Chrome Version: 34.0.1847.116 Your Flash Version: Adobe 13.0.0.182 Your operating system: OS X 10.9.2 When you first noticed the issues: This problem started when I got a new computer around two months ago.
Your symptoms? Content does not load when there is more than one Flash object in a page (I think) or maybe how it is embedded, as embedded YouTube videos or Soundcloud players don't work; videos in YouTube or Facebook appear fine *new* What other browsers have you tried? Is the issue specific to Chrome? Flash works as expected on Safari.

| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | DylanParrin | 4/28/14 12:34 PM | This is unbelievable that Google is addressing this issue like this. I think it's bigger than we know. Never had any problems with Google before this, seriously starting to have doubts. What's worst is the fact that I've let Google take over everything, work and personal. Without fully working Chrome on Mac OSX I'm pretty screwed. Having to deal with Safari now. But Flash is required so I have no choice. If someone at Google actually cares, why are you closing our MAC OSX related topics and directing them here? | ||||||||||

| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | ALB1234 | 5/2/14 1:48 AM | I never had any issues related to Flash content (YouTube, Hulu) until just a couple of days ago. Tonight I disabled the pepperflash plugin and reinstalled the default Adobe plugin but that didn't help. I just tried enabling the Always Allow. I was able to have videos play for over an hour continuously on Hulu, which I haven't been able to do for more than 5-10 minutes since this problem started. One thing I did differently this time though is I did not go full screen with the video. When I did, the problem surfaced within 2-3 minutes. I usually try to load the highest quality (1080p or 720p) available on YouTube and go full screen. I will have to try YouTube again without going full screen to see if it makes a difference. I had the Chrome Task Manager open while my videos were playing normally tonight from Hulu. Once the problem occurred I saw that the CPU % for Chrome and Shockwave went through the roof when it was playing all choppy and stuttering. Before the problem, the CPU usage was low, of course.

| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | mattrbailey | 5/6/14 1:23 PM | I have had an issue at work for the last week or two. Machines that ran you tube, suddenly stopped working. An error on the video said "an error has occurred, please try again later". After lots of testing on multiple machines it seemed Chrome was fine and it wasn't related to user permissions. All other browsers had the issue. My work around was to install the you tube HTML player, https://www.youtube.com/html5?gl=GB. As soon as this was installed it worked fine on every account. The good thing is it seems to be a single install per computer. Anyone can then logon. Oh and it has just happened on my mac at home. I used the same fix and all seems ok. Flash version causing the issue is 13.0.0.206 as far as I can tell. HTML 5 is the further though, I wouldn't mess around downgrading or uninstalling flash, just install the HTML 5 Player. | ||||||||||
| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | ALB1234 | 5/7/14 1:21 AM | I finally solved my problem. First, I truly did believe it was Chrome and/or Flash causing all of my problems as the video playback was ONLY interrupted when I would play back YouTube videos. If I played any movies from my local hard drives, which are .MKV containers with H.264 or XVID encodes, the movies would play fine. I thought it was the pepperflash plugin because so many people were having problems with it and it did seem that disabling that plugin and re-installing the full Adobe plugin from their website improved the playback a bit, but the problem persisted. Finally, I decided to roll back my NVIDIA video display driver. I was running the most current Geforce 335.23 driver and it is WHQL certified. I went to their older drivers section and installed the Geforce 327.23 driver as a clean install. I should also say that it did replace my HD Audio driver as well with a slightly older version. Anyway, since then I have had ZERO playback issues with YouTube videos. They play fine in the standard small window and full screen at 1080p. My Sony VAIO laptop has a GeForce 330M video card - in case anyone else has this card and is experiencing the same problem. It looks like the video driver is probably the main culprit, or at least a very big part of the problem. Normally, I would investigate my device drivers immediately when problems begin but this problem seemed so specific - it was only YouTube videos that were stuttering/freezing/de-syncing/crashing my machine. And they varied in intensity. The logical thing, at least to me, seemed to blame something happening inside that web browser. Good luck to everyone! | ||||||||||
| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | JustAguy4fun | 5/8/14 9:44 AM | I would like to share some information that may help folks out on this front. I was having the same issue (could not load shockwave flash in chrome), and it started earlier this week. I tried everything I stumbled across on the 'inter-tubes' (disabled different versions, un/re-installed, downgraded, etc) - to no avail. This was a work computer I was working on. I just received word from corp IT team that a program 'EMET 4.1' (rolled out to all users to mitigate against recently discovered IE vulnerabilities) could be uninstalled as a native IE patch was rolled out. It dawned on me that _THIS_ program could possibly be causing the flash issues in Chrome. Sure enough - uninstalled, and viola - Flash working like a champ again. So keep in mind of the most recently installed *anything* - and immediately suspect that as the culprit. I typically do that, but didn't know our corp IT team had rolled out software. I don't know if that helps - but thought I would share. Cheers! | ||||||||||

| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | De Mo | 6/9/14 12:46 PM | Ryan I SO totally agree with you!!! I also did EVERYTHING Sarah from google suggested and NOTHING working!! I have high speed, I have TONS of available space, all my cookies, cache etc cleared it does NO good! I have ALL the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Adobe Flash, so its a crock to send us all on a wild goose chase, when Google KNOWS exactly what the problem is! I believe this is a direct result of Google, Youtube merger not long ago! Sadly in our world big corporations gobble up others and then the control freak status begins. It basically boils down to Google is limiting the amount of usage it allows Centurylink (that I know of) and possible other ISP's also! There was a time in our world when businesses 'cared' about happy or contented consumers BUT not anymore, its strictly about who has the biggest bank account, and who has the most power, we are simply the collateral damage among big corporations! Its REALLY odd that you can access almost every single youtube video from here http://www.unblock-proxy.net/ as it is similar to browsing incognito, SO google does not recognize your IP and allows signal to go thru! Hope this helps until these big corporations decide to start acting like adults instead of children on a playground fighting over who has the biggest toy! | ||||||||||

| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | DylanParrin | 6/9/14 10:40 PM | Unfortunately you're wrong. | Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | De Mo | 6/10/14 10:55 AM | Micah actually what it means is they are "attempting" to fix a problem! That being said, my point with "know it all" comment was you were telling me it was a chrome flash problem which NO it is not! And if you are experiencing the same issue as the rest of commenters here, why are'nt you addressing it with "chrome flash" to fix it! The vast majority of comments here ARE Centurylink customers and it appears to me from this thread that a LOT care about Centurylink! The customer service email may not be "the fix" but it is a step in the right direction! It also beats your sarcasm, as I did NOT say "I" would or could resolve everyones problem!! | Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | DylanParrin | 6/10/14 11:20 AM | De Mo, you must be new to the internet. Let me break it down for you... The title of this thread is "Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos?" I see no mention of CLink there - Just because "many" people mention this ISP, does not mean that the thread all of a sudden changes it's topic to this. I do not know who CLink are because I don't even live in the US! You do realise that there is a world outside of the United States? With a whole load more ISPs... THIS IS A CHROME/FLASH PROBLEM. THAT IS ALL. YOUR ISP DOES NOT BLOCK FLASH. The email you're talking about is irrelevant, this goes way beyond the US and Centurylink, it is just a PR email, it does not mean anything, it does not resolve anything. This discussion is irrelevant. The fix needs to be applied by Google and Google only. | ||||||||||

I can watch flash animations on Newgrounds, but Youtube videos only load half the time, and on some other sites, every 1/10 videos actually manages to load. I can watch Netflix, however, I've been getting weird 'let's try that again' messages that I haven't gotten before, which seems to be happening around the same time that this YT problem started. Content doesn't load at all; some videos load, but refreshing the page never fixes the ones that don't. I would very much appreciate a solution.
| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Allan Richards | 6/10/14 11:30 PM | Dylan is right. I am a CLink customer for many many years (back when I was on qwest and it was taken by clink). But seriously ppl - common sense must prevail here - among the massive websites from gaming to porn, from all types of media of images to video's, CLINK choose to block random youtube videos? c'mon. If you don't know - DON'T POST. You waste our time here for us coming to find out why this is failing. I watch everything from music, gaming and sometimes magic - and out of everyone of those I used to watch without a hitch, as of two days ago, random ones no longer work, example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MteSlpxCpo I used to watch alot - (amazing video by the way at 72mill views as of this post), and then POOF it decides not to work anymore - Just like that. Gaming trailers and walkthroughs I was just watching the day before STOPPED. and I cannot find a pattern of why some videos work and others do not. There is no difference in what browser I use (chrome, FF, Safari, Opera etc.. I have them all for times like this to test, but FF is my meat and potatoes) Accusing ANY ISP of blocking youtube vids, i would be in suspect of the poster. That's just guessing. Here is my CLink DSL connection speed (yes thats DSL NOT cable) http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3556222627 as you can see - it's not throttled, and being DSL it is NOT shared, nor does it suffer the "peak hour usage" that cable users do - and no, over half the videos I was watching the other day, still do not work. With all that said. here is the one thing I noticed that I did different My system updated (win7 64bit) yesterday - I don't know how that happened. I prob clicked ok on something. I rarely update to avoid situations such as this. ALL OF my browsers are up to date, I did 3 uninstall, then reinstall flash player. All my java apps are up to date. Yet when the system came back online after the windows update, youtube started to act weird. I still believe this is a Google and/or a windows 7 update issue. As I went to dailymotion.com, who uses the same format as youtube, but not owned by google, and all the videos work just fine. I went to several other "Youtube clones" and all those videos work fine as well. ONLY youtube seems to suffer. For those of you having issues, go to the other sites mentioned above, and you'll see your flash player is working fine. It seems to be a youtube thing. | ||||||||||

Is it that difficult? I don't know, maybe it is. I have NEVER had flash performance issues until PPAPI Flash, then at least I could disable it and use the external plugin. I can't believe you guys did that. I understand why, reduce the codebase and eliminate dependence on an ancient API... but this really wasn't ready for primetime. | Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | James Heazlewood | 7/28/14 8:29 PM | My issue is the following: Videos on Facebook and other websites (http://www.11secondclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=19978) seem to have the last few frames cut off at the end. It seems to be an issue around Adobe Flash player as HTML5 players seem to work without issue. This does not happen in any other web browser. An example is this video: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=684845264919689 If you watch it in both Firefox and Chrome, you can see that the video pauses before the last few frames in Chrome only. | Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | jayessemm | 8/2/14 9:37 AM | Hi Sara Dee, I posted months ago about Flash / Chrome issues and then again recently. You send me to a page that said the Flash / Chrome issue had been resolved. I disabled a second version of Flash I somehow have on my machine and did the other things you suggested but something wonky is still going on. The issue is most pronounced when I go to the New York Times site. I often receive a message: And -- as promised -- it makes my whole computer run slow. As an amusing aside I sent the tech people at NYT.com a note and one of them suggested it would be easier if I didn't go to their site. I assume their bosses don't know about this "solution." :-) Any advice would be much appreciated. In answer to your questions:
Your operating system: OSX 10.9.4 When you first noticed the issues: Maybe six or nine months ago Areas affected - Flash video content, YouTube Flash content, all Flash content: Had YouTube problems in the past but these days it is just the "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player to run slowly ..." | Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Adadave | 10/1/14 9:07 PM | Hello. So, I have a Toshiba Satellite C855D-5351. I have updated all of my video card drivers and tried many other things related to fixing possible crashes related to graphics and adobe flash player. Just thought to get that out of the way before I state my problem When I click on a youtube video I get for one second, a gray/black screen telling me I need to update flash player before I watch the video. But then the screen disappears, and the video loads. When I go click another video the browser freezes, then my computer, and then my screen flashes black, shuts down and restarts itself basically. Once it restarts I don't have any internet connection at all, and I have to shut down the computer and start it up again. I can play games, play music, everything else, but when it comes to youtube videos, it basically crashes when I click on another video. At first I went to Adobe and tried installing their flash player, but that made things be the same if not even worse. I uninstalled the stand alone plugin as I read that it would be better to have the browser plugin on it's own. My internet connection is just fine as well. There was, however, one time, one very odd, but miraculous time, where the computer was about to crash and restart, but then, somehow, it recovered. No restart, everything was just fine. I did get a little bubble pop up message from my applications that said that my Graphics card stopped working and then recovered. And I did try updating the graphics card, But this still kept on happening. Again, I have tried updating my drivers, and I did, but nothing was the same. I am really out of ideas and it's really annoying to have to restart my computer multiple times.

Solution 1: Disable hardware acceleration. To do this,go settings->advanced settings->remove the tick of hardware acceleration and restart browser. The problem that comes with this solution is that you'll find many low resolution videos will be pixelated. Solution 2: Go to your Chrome's installation folder and delete these two files: ffmpegsumo.dll nacl_irt_x86_64.nexe The problem this solution brings is that around the second to fifth seconds of most videos will lose audio. Also forwarding or rewinding the video causes audio, and sometimes video loss.

| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Bruno Mota | 10/25/14 1:18 PM | To me, it's an specific case. Yesterday, all was fine. I could see videos without a problem, but now there's something going on. When I go to youtube, if I pick any of the videos in the homepage, they work just fine, but when I go to my subscription and pick any of the videos, they won't load. Well, actually they do load since the load bar keeps increasing, but the video doesn't start. Instead, that grey circle just keeps spinning and there's no way to fix it. I've tried almost everything since a simple refresh to complete uninstall. I have gone to IE on this same computer and the video works. Thinking it could be a chrome problem I went to my desktop and opened Chrome. I just went mad when the video loaded and played perfectly! I have done all of the troubleshooting steps If you are still having an issue, please try these troubleshooting steps, except the one that talkes about two Flash plugins since I don't have two, only one. Incognito mode dooesn't work. but HTML5 (despite not knowing what does that mean) works.

Anyways here it is, hope it helps: Go to Computer / C / Program Files (x86) / Google / Chrome / Application / 38.0.2125.104. Then, delete the files named "ffmpegsumo.dll" and "nacl_irt_x86_64.nexe" Also, you can try going to Chrome://plugins/ to make sure you only have one Flash player on.

Your Symptoms: Anything that's 720p or lower, 30fps or lower plays fine, but anything that's 1080p or 60fps has choppiness to the point where it would be called freezing. The video doesn't stay running for more than half a second at a time and pauses for a few seconds at a time or more, and the audio cuts out. 7. What Other Browsers: I've tried Firefox, and there's no issue there. EDIT: I've managed to narrow down the problem to the buggy drivers for my even buggier sound card. Reinstalling them made the problem a little better, but it's still there. But still, 1080p video works just fine in Firefox, but not in Chrome, so it's an issue with Chrome specifically. 60fps doesn't work in Firefox, so I can't test that.

For the last 48 hours I've been trying to watch Gotham on Fox.com from my iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2010)...no good. I was just watching it earlier this week, and for some reason when I try now it only has a black window (no error message). Videos won't play for me on NBC.com, Fox.com, or CBS.com on neither Chrome nor Safari nor Firefox. Randomly, ABC.com DOES work across all fronts. Here is what I've tried: -Restarting computer -Refreshing constantly -Reinstalling Chrome / Firefox -Making sure Flash was updated -Clearing all website data / caches / extensions
Here is my info: 1) Chrome Version 39.0.2171.95 (64-bit) 2) Flash Version 16,0,0,235 installed 3) iMac (21.5 inch, Mid 2010) on OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 4) I first noticed the issues on Friday (1/9/15) 5) Areas affected: CBS.com, NBC.com, Fox.com, but...ABC.com DOES work. 6) Content not loading at all. I'm also noticing that it's hard for me to even open Fox.com, CBS.com, and NBC.com...I normally have to refresh a couple of times before a page even opens. Youtube works fine. 7) I've tried Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. No luck. Thank you, Jalyssa
| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Cassy Bug | 1/27/15 12:10 AM | I know for a fact everything is up to date, I recently cleared my cookies, and after hearing that Chrome sometimes has problems with two flashes, disabled the one that I was told to disable, Now I am having a new problem. If I enable the Pepper Flash, that comes with Chrome and disable the one that comes with the computer itself, Games freeze, Well not really freeze, more like glitch, if you hover over the right spot it will show the new button, but other than that it does nothing useful and makes it impossible to play, If I disable the Pepper and enable the other, Videos refuse to play. if I leave both enabled, getting flash to work at all is impossible. Please help me. it is ONLY chrome that has this problem, and I would hate to have to get used to Firefox | ||||||||||
| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Scott123180 | 1/27/15 9:26 PM | Problem Okay, so I had this problem too, YouTube videos freeze and flash content does not work well. I tried resetting chrome, messing with the default flashes, and uninstalling and re-installing chrome. I even restored my computer back to a certain date (that worked for a while) I think it is a problem with conflicting plugins, because when i did the Google recommended advice, I disabled one and checked the box in chrome://plugins and went to incognito, videos played fine. Google chrome worked fine then, but I didn't want to continue that way for obvious reasons. My Google chrome worked when I first installed it, but now it didn't. Solution: GET RID OF GOOGLE CHROME COMPLETELY AND RE-INSTALL. Now, you can't just hit uninstall on Windows and expect everything to be fine, because windows never completely uninstalls a program. So you have to follow these steps if you are on windows. If you are not on windows, look up how to completely uninstall a program on your OS.Solution (don't forget to read my symptoms) 1. Read all of the instructions carefully first or you could risk damaging your computer 2. Completely exit chrome (you need to go into task manager to close background applications and the crash handler) 3. Uninstall chrome 4a. Go into your file directory and delete all of the files under program files, program files (x86), programData (you need to enable show hidden files and folders), and Users->your account -> AppData -> local Google WARNING: -If you have any other google apps installed, then all of these files could corrupt your other programs so make sure you only delete the chrome files. 4b. Optional: download a registry cleaner like Ccleaner and clean your registry files (basically if this doesn't work the first time, try redoing with this step 5. added later: You need to uninstall adobe reader and/or adobe acrobat, they contain files that mess up chrome for some reason so get rid of them 6. go to the google download website and download chrome 7. Do a little cheer but also a little boo as Google needs to work out compatibility with adobe Update (READ THIS) The problem persisted, so I added step 5 and my chrome has been working fine ever since. For some reason chrome conflicts with these files and shockwave flash crashes. Other non-adobe applications such as the MS reader do not interfere. with chrome, so you should be safe to install those. | ||||||||||

| Re: Issues with Flash? Problems with Adobe Flash or YouTube Videos? | Kimberly Rockwell | 4/20/15 7:47 AM | f issues persist, let us know the following information:
I used to have the "two flashes" problem, and the only good solution was to disable the internal chrome version and enable the real, working adobe version. After the latest chrome update, some times I had to enable the icky chrome version and disable the other, especially in order to view embedded videos. Now as of yesterday, chrome has DELETED the true, working, functional version of flash and forced me to use their internal, inbred, barely functional version so now I have very little flash on chrome and what little I have is choppy. Adobe is in the flash business. Not google. Please just get rid of your version and allow us again to use actual flash. This dollar-store knock-off has rendered chrome utterly useless. PS - At the VERY least, use "go back" and just give up on this latest update. It doesn't work. Nobody likes it. On top of the thousands of users here who are posting problems, there are MILLIONS all over the internet who have broken flash. There comes a time when you have to accept defeat. Please do not render chrome useless. Until this horrorshow, you were the best browser out there. Now you are another useless icon on the desktop. PPS - did you not beta test this AT ALL?
