I've started this thread to further troubleshoot issues from the Google Chrome isn't loading anything what so ever thread. This discussion is specifically for users who aren't able to load any pages in Chrome including Settings, History, Bookmarks, etc. You're in the right place if can access the wrench icon menu, but are unable to load all pages except the "About Google Chrome" dialogue box.
If you are experiencing the above issue please include all of the details below in your reply. Also see the best answers highlighted by a green vertical strip to the right of the page for tips.

Was using Chrome no problems a couple of hours ago...then suddenly got crash reports when trying to open.
All I'm doing is clicking to open my Chrome (and for it to go to the homepage obv - which is set to www.google.com).
The screenshot attached shows what happens.
Using Malwarebytes for antivirus and it seems Microsoft Security Essentials too. The same pages are not a problem using other browsers.
I'm afraid I don't know how to look for extensions or disable my firewall! Sorry!
Hope you can help as I love using Chrome!

Still the only thing that helps out is the -no-sandbox trick which induces problems of its own.

I have not been able to display any web pages for a couple of weeks - been using Firefox. I just got it to work by using --no-sandbox.

Hi, I was using chrome this morning, but then just now when i open Chrome, it loads nothing, just like the image attached.
I've tried pages like "google.com", "facebook.com", it loads nothing, and I can tell because there is no loading spinner icon on the tab when I pressed 'Enter', nothing happens.
I've tried open settings, it does nothing same like above, the address bar just changed to "chrome://chrome/settings/" but nothing is loaded. Even "extension", "history" isn't working.
The omnibar works find, suggesting me options, reference to my history.
I've open the task manager, and it shows only 1 process is going on, "browser", and it should be more 'cause i have a few extensions/plug-ins.
My google chrome is up to date, i can see from "About Google Chrome", it stated (21.0.1180.79)
I am using Windows 7, x64
I dont have any browser, until google chrome fails me just now.
I am using Microsoft Security Essentials. Disabling it does not help the problem
Since the browser can't load anything, I can't check the extensions that i've installed, but I dont think it's caused by the extension because I've install those extensions since long ago, and it works find.

to extensions another cannot.

Toolbars load, pages won't open. When they rarely - very rarely- open, I cannot scroll down the page.
Wrench menu works
Internet Explorer works. I'm thinking of ditching Chrome for IE because of the frustration and apparently no help from Google for this problem.
Like others, I am NOT going to disable the firewall or virus protection. Why would you even suggest such a thing?
Same problem with Incognito window.
No screen shot available....only a toolbar and everything else is white.

Please note that we do not recommend running Chrome with the "no-sandbox" path. Running Chrome without the sandbox leaves your computer more vulnerable to flaws and security exploits. It should only be used for testing purposes. However, if Chrome works while using this path it reveals that there could be an issue with 3rd party software downloaded on to your computer (eg: antiviruses and firewalls).
For that reason it is important to temporarily run Chrome with disabled antivirus and firewalls and the sandbox enabled. These things can sometimes cause problems with Chrome, but if you refuse to temporarily disable (and re-enable) them then it is impossible for us to rule out 3rd party software.
Thanks to all those who were willing to test Chrome with their antivirus/firewalls disabled. Here is a help center article to make sure you've covered all bases. We're continuing to investigate this issue.

5) IE 9 will load all pages without any problem AS WILL FIREFOX
6) Norton antivirus - I used Chrome for six months with this with NO problems until 28th July when my first WHITE PAGE OF DEATH happened (which was Rapidshare, I thought it was them but it wasn't) nothing but trouble since
7) I've turned norton OFF several times to check and it makes asbsolutely no difference to Chrome's performance
8) Icognito window works intermittently just like normal window and is no better
9) Screen is blank apart from toolbars
Please help fix whatever is going on as really miss Chrome !!!

I can view the wrench tool screen, but it won't launch settings and such.
Internet explorer works just fine, (of course slow as snail mail).
I am too scared to disable anti-virus
I do not know what incognito is.

5. YES ALL OTHER BROWSERS safari, firefox, ,ie ,opera (hint it's chromes problem)
6. nothing but MSE now ruled out all antivirus! and windows firewall
7. NO hence me posting here after all this time waiting for a fix
8. NO (hint again the it's chrome the renderer not starting prob, so NOTHING CAN LOAD)

I think you are forgetting that Chrome is a 3rd party program. <.< And yes I am having issues with it. It is not
for other makers to make their past software work with the newest Chrome version but for Chrome to work
with past programs. Everything was fine until the beginning of July and the first people started to see the
white pages of death. It is at this point the updates should be check by the "tech" team over there at Google.
Something you did at Google started to interfere with other programs. I fail to see how it would be anyone's
problem to fix but that of Google themselves.
Needless to say, without any coustomer support for something as simple as a web browers, how do you think
that will move people when it comes time to spend money or an app or program. So far this has been a huge
fail that could be fixed with a simple rollback to an older version.
And please not that people have the right to be wary of letting down their firewall or anti virus. When I
redid XP 3 years ago, and hooked up to the web to download AVG my computer was attacked 2 times in
5 minutes while I was trying to download the program. So it is still a no go on turning off any protection
that works just fine and is glitch free.

I was having the same problem as described by other users. I finally rooted out the problem (at least for me): Sendori. Check to see if you have this program installed (it came bundled with another piece of software, and I didn't even realize I had installed it).
After uninstalling Sendori, check your DNS settings, remove 126.96.36.199 and 188.8.131.52. Then, reboot, check to make sure the DNS settings weren't re-added (Sendori likes to re-add them; if it wasn't successfully uninstalled it will keep doing it, like a virus). After that, try some web pages - I could successfully open pages, stream Youtube videos, etc. just fine after I did this.

I have been using Chrome for a long time ago, few weeks ago it started to go slow. On Sunday I unistalled and installed again, it didn't work, since then I cann't use it any more :(

minombreesnick: I don't have Sendori and have never heard of it, has anyone else identified this on their computer and followed these steps? Can you advise, for what period of time have you now found Chrome is consistently uploading all web pages for you quickly and efficiently, 100 % of the time since you took that action?
I would like it if people would not post stuff about uninstalling software etc and then finding Chrome is "working find"...until after Chrome (the latest version that is) has been working for them satisfactorily 100% for at least a fortnight because it can be intermittent and a lot of those actions can be red herrings.

i just want to make a point that may be significant.
i only get the problem of eternal 'loading' if i launch chrome through a desktop shortcut icon. it behaves perfectly if launched from either start/all programs/google chrome, or from a bookmark.
anybody else noticed this?

Same here, I had this problem last week, Chrome wouldn't load any pages including the local ones such as the settings page, just hits me with an "Aww Snap" message. If i disable my AV protection chrome works fine etc. Running Win XP SP3, latest version of chrome etc - other browsers working without an issue. I raised a ticket on here and sometime over the weekend someone replied saying I should update chrome, sure enough an update was available and it fixed the problem GREAT...
1 day later it's updated again AND it's broken again with exactly the same problem. Google, I've been using your browser for years, recommend it to everyone - can you fix it please

Simply, it is funny that now it become user problem, and to help you test your product.
And, as there are many complaints, which mean, this is NOT a stable release!
Can you rewind your version number? So, to make your browser, do a simple job and what it should do, browse the internet?

Chrome is FREE software, and pretty darn good. There are other FREE browsers available, if your system is incompatible with Chrome.
Every computer system is different, from the moment they get used by the customer. Software will always be upgraded... not all systems will be compatible with the upgrades. This happens in EVERY software environment, even with software that costs big-bucks $$$ (I'm talking >$10K).
It is not Google's responsibility to be compatible with very machine that might have old drivers, malicious programs or inept users. Some users' systems may seem alright, but actually have undetected problems. In my case, there was a bad device-driver for a webcam that was installed in 2005 and never used since then. That was my responsibility. Thanks to other HELPFUL participants, the root of the issue was discovered. Other users have found that other software was causing the problem with using Chrome.
You can be confident that Google is working to find solutions to widespread problems of similar nature, for as many people as possible; but Chrome cannot possibly work for every single system, if they are not in perfect working order (which is often hard to know by the user).
You can also be confident that there are voluntary efforts working with Google to solve problems and make Chrome better. You can participate by reporting issues as clearly and completely as possible and trying the suggested procedures.
Chrome may not offer a rollback to an earlier build - that's life, it's FREE, no guarantees. If you are unhappy with Chrome, help find a solution, or use another browser until a solution is found.

Simply, do you think Google is not making money from Chrome? I don't think so, they will have ways to make it, just they are not charging us, the user.
Moreover, it is Chrome auto update me to a unstable release.
Of cos we can walk away from Chrome, but why are we here?
If you telling me that, hey this is a freeware, and me Google is not caring you user use it or not, then fine, I go else where.

If you simply want to complain, there is a feedback link on the toolbar menu: "Report an issue".
A forum is an opportunity discuss issues and help find solutions. For example: helping the participants who don't know about "Incognito mode" for anonymous browsing (in the toolbar), or the ability to use the "Disable AVG for 10min" feature in AVG Free control panel.
You might be aware the Chrome is developed in great part by volunteers in the Chromium project. They contribute knowing that Google can make money, but the users get a better browser. Chrome is not perfect... but very good.
If temporarily disabling your antivirus sounds scary, don't worry. You can do it briefly and re-scan your computer afterwards. If your machine gets infected in the five minutes it takes to test, you should consider a hardware firewall.
If you simply want to complain, that will not help resolve problems. I'm sure you will enjoy Firefox or IE or Safari.

SO, according to some of the posts, it is OUR problem to deal with if Chrome isn't working. Basically we've been told to 'take our ball and go home!'
Chrome was working flawlessly on my desktop and laptop PCs for a couple of years. All of a sudden a Chrome update causes the, can I say it, WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH, but only on my desktop. Both are running Windows 7. They do, however, use different anti-virus software; desktop has Norton; laptop has Kaspersky.
Com'on Google this is YOUR problem to solve. The answer isn't, "Oh well, too bad; just use someone else's browser." I can't believe that Larry and Sergei believe that's the way to resolve the issue!

Anyways the reason I am chapped is not so much the fact the Chrome fails to work still. It is the run a round I have
gotten. I have now been on 4 different treads, and each time the exact same questions are asked of me each time.
Oddly enough I have the exact same answers each time as well. I would expect that management will close this thread
as well as no useful information is being added now. And how could it, nothing has changed except the version of
Chrome that everyone is "running" on their system.
And yes, I am using another "FREE" program at the moment. However, Google needs to realize that is the other vendors
advertisers and clients that get to see the benefits from me being there and not here. I wonder if Google has changed
their business profile last month and no longer care about profits and if users actual stay here and use their services.
In the past Google has been all about an integrated experience of the web and other mobile devices. Now it is just broken.
It is just sad really,

You probably need to clean up your cookies, because i had this problem yesterday with my facebook account. Best cookie cleaner around is ccleaner .. you can get this from filehippo.com. Takes a few seconds to install .. install it & disconnect from the internet, let it analyse your computer and then click run cleaner.. after that get back on the internet & you will need to sign in to youtube again. This should work because it worked for me. good luck

^ thanks for the suggestion but most of us have tried the ccleaner route to no avail, amongst other things.
I wonder how widespread this problem is amongst the chrome fraternity. For example, my wife's desktop machine is unaffected whereas mine is totally f***ed as for as chrome goes, and we both use the same anti virus and other software.

fist of all make sure your active security devices are in proper working order, and 2nd of all reactivate all registered utilities and make sure you have all of your updates loaded and up to date and you have a good site that will remove all malisious adware removed in otherwords do all scheduled trash and browsing history removal

there is regular maintance that all should know , means go thru and actually disable certain programs that have not been active and go into them find out which ones are the ones that produce maximum or to at least your systms cappabilities requirements and dont exceed time or quanity

I had the issue where my home page was not loading -- Chrome just sat spinning. If I pressed HOME button it loaded fine. On Chrome load however it always sat spinning.
After several updates, it still wasn't fixed.
Just tonight, I happened to notice a couple of extensions that I didn't add. I deleted both of them and now Chrome loads my home page every time upon initial start up.
No idea where the extensions came from... Is there an activity log in Chrome? I'll be happy to report the details of the extensions. One was something related to Firefox (which I don't have installed) and the other was more suspicious.

Problems with loading and lag on scrolling or doing anything:
21.0.1180.79 (tried to update, browser said no update avail)
Win 7 Ultimate 64bit
All pages at any given time
Able to see, but lags in use
Yes, other browsers no issue
Unwilling to test this insecure move. But checked allowances and Chrome was fully permitted.
Incognito initially appeared to work, but only briefly. Then jsut as troublesome as normal mode.
No extensions. No themes, no nothing. Very clean install of Chrome
I uninstalled it now due to issues. But the blue circular 'hourglass' came up VERY frequently and chrome would stutter and "not responding" appeared, even if only momentarily.

I have a fix which I saw someone try on an earlier thread.
Rename the chrome.exe file to chrom.exe, and rename the desktop shortcut accordingly so that it launches chrom.exe (the same file, just renamed).
Then it works!
The problem began for me when I did a new install to fix performance issues.
I'd tried everything else to fix it: reinstall, deleting user profile, local data, even clearing out the registry entries.
I was using the latest version, no AVG or firewalls, only W7 standard firewall and MSE.
Amazed that Google doesn't yet have a proper fix for this!!!

You can also rename it to be chrome2.exe or anything else. It's just chrome.exe as the filename that stops it working.
In fact it's better to copy the exe and then rename the copied version - otherwise the desktop icon chrome might not display correctly in the taskbar (you get some ugly system default for an exe instead).

No use, it did not help me.
I still have some tab forever load, and after use a while, plug in not working anymore.

I've had this problem for months and it's annoying as hell. I'm a Win7 x64 kind of guy. This has persisted through many Chrome upgrades and software upgrades including two different malware/antivirus programs.
The solution I employ is to close Chrome and re-open. It opens fine the second time but the first time I try to open it every day it fails to load. I just sent a report to Google, then I found this discussion group.
Looking for a solution.

I have been having problems with google chrome since july 2012 I have been using it for 2 years with no problem .. Please can I go back to that version . not sure what it was. I got chrome working and have been away when i returned chrome would not load at all I have tried everything to get it to work i m out of ideas the version I was trying to use is 21.0.1180.79.
I use windows xp home edition and have norton security.
I really like chrome when it works but a m giving up trying any more other browsers work IE 8 and firefox but are slower than chrome but at least i can use the internet with them

Renaming chrome.exe to something else did not work for me.
If it had, that certainly would have made it seem like it was something like a firewall rule, or maybe AV setting - renaming would have made those products take a fresh look at Chrome...

about:gpu (which changes to chrome://gpu) gives the same gray screen.
Chrome works for me using --no-sandbox - not sure if the GPU info with that is useful, but it is attached as a PDF.

Facebook Pages are hanging or extremely slow - Description of problem: Screen saver kicks in, and when I move the mouse and return to working on web pages, the FaceBook pages (and others???) hang. I have to reboot the modem or shut Chrome down.
There was a recent update to AVG, and noticed that the issue started after the update. But who knows the cause, so many updates done by software, that who knows.
This began within the last week.

My problems with Chrome started about 2 weeks ago and coincided with my system getting hijacked by some malware called Babylon. It invades web browsers and takes over the search engine and seems to be well known.
I managed to get rid of Babylon from Chrome and IE9 with some online help but am now wondering if there is some link to my Chrome problem.

It's the damnest thing! I have done several Chrome uninstall/fresh installs. I've disabled the Google specific Flash plugin that has been as issue in the past. I've cleared the cache multiple times. I've gone into settings and turned off the "predict network actions" setting. I've run malware.
None of it helps!
Pages either don't pull up at all (while the little circle is constantly loading). Or, it pulls up part of the page but not all. Incognito doesn't help. I am TOTALLY out of ideas and the previous thread on this, although closed, didn't offer any further insight. As per your request, here are my stats:
Chrome 21.0.1180.79 m (Even the "checking for updates" just keeps running on the About window)
Your help welcomed. Would rather not delete Chrome. Thanks.

Google+ doesnt work. The one time I actually want to use it! In Chrome!!!!! Gotta be a joke. I'm now using it on IE9.
Chrome works on every other site. The only reason I switched over to it was because it's the only browser that seems to work with Box on my new computer (HP Envy Spectre XT).
Using Norton antivirus, latest. Might bag it because it's not customizable, ie, I cant allow certain URLs, etc.
No extensions as of yet.

It seems like a long time since we heard from Gwyneth or anybody from Google.
Is anybody actually doing anything to resolve the problem? I personally don't buy into this philosophy of 'it's free software, what do you expect?'. Some people (ok, not me!) are running busineses relying on Chrome to help them out. Seems like we can't rely on Google anymore, shame, since they had built a reputation for fairness and reliability which sadly has gone.

The Gmail sign-in page won't load. I had signed up for two-step verification. Everything was fine for two or three weeks; then suddenly I realized when I clicked on the Gmail icon I wasn't getting phone calls anymore and it was going directly to my inbox page without letting me sign in. I don't know the url of the sign-in page. I tried incognito, but that doesn't work either. The wrench and menu work fine. I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials, which I never had problems with the firewall before. Chrome is my only browser, and what do you mean by extensions? I sent the screenshot to the Help Desk, but a picture of my inbox doesn't show the problem. The problem is the gmail icon skipping the sign-in page and going directly to my inbox.

Hi. My problems started yesterday when my computer got unplugged and I restarted. I have tried reinstalling on top of the previous Chrome install and uninstalling and reinstalling fresh, both to no avail. Here are my details:
-Chrome version 21.0.1180.79
-Windows XP SP2
-No page will load. Title bar reads "Loading..." indefinitely.
-The wrench icon menu items appear and I can click on them. Doing so will launch a new tab which also displays "Loading..." for an indefinite length of time.
-Both IE and Firefox run fine and open anything.
-Avast antivirus 7.0.1456
-No they do not
-New incognito window opens, displays "New tab" in the title bar, and will not load a page. "Page(s) Unresponsive" window opens.
I'm surprised to learn this has been going on for so long. What's going on over at Google? How hard can it be to fix this? How big of a priority is it to fix this? People's browsers not loading anything all of a sudden? WTF???

I downloaded IE just to see if the sign-in page would come up. It did. But the Sign-in page still won't come up in Chrome.

You might check the Automatic Sign-in settings in your Google Account.
Disabling automatic sign-in
If you're being automatically signed in to your Google Account, you may have enabled either a password-storing feature in your browser, or the Google Accounts option to "Stay signed in."
First check if the Google Accounts "Stay signed in" option is actually enabled. Visit the Google Accounts homepage and verify if the checkbox above the Sign In button is selected. If it's selected, delete your browser's cookies. If you're using Mozilla Firefox version 1.5 or later:
Each time you sign in to your Google Account, make sure the "Stay signed in" option isn't selected.
If the problem persists, you may want to clear your browser's cache and cookies. Please note that while deleting your cookies may resolve the problem, it will also remove your saved settings for sites you've previously visited.

Not sure you want the general public going in this deep, but it was the only way I discovered that my camera driver(aka service)was the cause of my problems with Chrome (and TD's and a couple of other people's that I notice posting here). See my earlier posts.
I have used "Procexe.exe" from systeminternals for many years now to find out what drivers clash with others and for debugging purposes.
Get it from...
It is so much better than "Taskmanager" and "Controlpanel/Admintools/Services" as you can see and can control services with just the one (very informative) utility.
In the picture, you can see the pink (services,) and light blue (loaded programs, which have been loaded at startup automatically or directly by me).
Look for names in the pink area which are NOT from Microsoft, as these will be service drivers that have been installed by the computer manufacturer, and by yourself when adding additional hardware/software.(3rd party)
By right clicking on a 3rd party service (pink),and selecting properties, it is possible to Stop and Restart that service to test if it is a service driver that is causing Chrome to malfunction. In my case (and for other people) it was an old Logitech camera driver, which once updated to a newer driver, all the Chrome problems disappeared and I have used this particular machine for 2 weeks without problems. (I have several PC's and notebooks here, this notebook was the only one that had a Chrome problem).
The important thing is, that you STOP a 3rd party service ONE AT A TIME, then WAIT a few moments for the service to actually STOP, then (and only when it has completely STOPPED) load Chrome and check it's functionality.
In the case of AntiVirus programs, you cannot just use the program's own method of suspending or turning it off, as this does not necessarily STOP the actual service but merely "Pauses" it. The underlying service code is still active and may continue to clash with Chrome.
Process Explorer is not for the faint hearted, if you don't understand what any of this is all about then don't go messing around, leave it for those that do.
For those that do understand, and if you do find a service that clashes then report it back here so that others can benefit from your experience.
BTW, when installing process explorer for the first time you may need to select "View> Show processes from All Users" to see the Pink and the Blue etc.

ProcessExplorer is cool, but definitely a powertool. I'm not sure I'd suggest it to any but the most proficient DIYers in the group.
I will re-state my suspicion that the experience we had points to Chrome accessing hardware for Gmail/Hangout integration. Gmail launched Hangouts at the end of July. Hangouts allow video/audio/display sharing across the net.
I would suggest users verify their audio, video/cam and display drivers are all up to date. That won't ensure all are compatible with Chrome, but it can't hurt.
It won't solve all the issues either, many have very different behavior:
I'm confident the engineers are working on this, but it might be a challenge for them to get systems with the problem(s) in-house. I haven't found any more around here, but I'll keep looking for one with the problem(s) to tinker with.

I have used Chrome for a long time on this computer. Now it opens to blank page with my home page, uk.msn.com, in the address window and the loading symbol rotating anti-clockwise. I have checked my firewall, my antivirus and deleted and re-installed Chrome, without success. I am using Safari now, which is working normally.

OK, I found a solution, I hope it work for you all. In my case "Pages not loading in Chrome" caused by chrome extensions. I disable all chrome extensions, then pages and photos loaded fine. So, I went disabling them one by one until I found the bad one.
In my case it was Norton Identity Protection 2012.5.5.11
I am not sure if this would fix the issue for all, but it worked for me.

In my case, I open many tabs at start up, several won't load.
Those tab are completely dead, a) I cannot use those forever loading tab to open any other link, b) in background task, they are not exist, I cannot kill them at the task window.
To open those tab, I can by switch it to IE tabs, and then switch it back, but this only works sometime, as I keep on use Chrome, plug in will dead, sometime even IE tab is hang also.
Also, I can open those address by clsoing the hanged tab and open in another new tab.
Also, I have notice that, many times, the tab were hanged are more or the less the same tab, and mostly they are Google search result, Gmail, and Facebook.

I would disable all Chrome plugins and extensions.
If that does not help, I would also disable display hardware acceleration.
If that does not help, I would look in Win Task Manager for excessive memory use by Chrome or any other process.
I regularly run 15-20 tabs... startup is about 10 tabs.

My chrome is unable to load any pages when my AVG 2102 is loaded. When i disable my AVG chrome works fine. My chrome is of the latest version with windows XP..

Of cos I can test if I disable plug in to make the browser work, but why I migrate from FireFox to Chrome, one of the reason is it got plug in like FF.
If I have to disable them to just surf the internet with Chrome, I will not.
Same reason to disable hardware acceleration.
Actually, I did, when Chrome is nice enough, it still occasionally hang when loading Shockwave object and some JAVA object.
But now, it become very unusable. I'm using FF 4.X now, just to wait for Chrome get back to normal........
And I have to say, Chrome works fine at my office, I'm using 21.0.1180.81 beta version at my office and it works fine.

Okay, I've found the problem - it's the AVG Safe Search and Do Not Track extensions. I have disabled them and the problem is solved. But does this mean I can't use these malware protections with Chrome, or is there a fix?

If your AVG is most recent, I'd keep using the extensions and use the home button as a workaround, until your issue is resolved.

What version AVG? Free/Pay?
You can try disabling the AVG extensions in Chrome and see if the problem resolves.
You might try to disable just the "identity protection" component of AVG and see if that resolves the issue with Chrome.
Running AVG temporarily without "identity protection" will still allow antivirus protection and other AVG features.

Most pages – but not ALL. Only part of the page is displayed, even if I hit F5. Other pages display, but I am unable to navigate. Sometimes the page will unfreeze after 2 to 10 minutes, but this is unacceptable to me.

tyler - what you appear to be not getting is that we were all big proponents of chrome and we all noticed something dreadful happening right around the beginning of july to the product we had so loved and promoted the heck out of. google needs to figure out why sophisticated and seasoned users of chrome are all having the same problem pretty much at the same time. it's kind of a big deal. i have the EXACT same issues as at least half a dozen others that i just read in this thread - their diagnostics are identical to mine. so... i'm not sure WE can help find a solution. there should be enough data - hundreds if not thousands of users have already spent time giving google reams of setting info, version inf, and have already tired everything that's been suggested so far and it's not working. something went south a terrible way and google (not us) are the ones that need to figure it out (imho, of course). thanks for listening.

Unfortunately, we're still not able to reproduce this issue and are looking for reliable repro cases. Like the parent thread, it sounds like various issues are beginning to emerge here too. I'd like to keep this topic geared directly toward users who aren't able to load any pages including Settings, History, Bookmarks, etc. so I've edited the original post to be clear.
While we continue to test different scenarios we recommend that everyone check out the best answers (highlighted by a green vertical strip to the right of the page) for troubleshooting tips and see other tips below:
If you use Norton Identity Protection extension and are unable to load pages this is a known issue. The discussion 'Anyone having trouble with Google Chrome unable to scroll, focus, etc?' addresses that issue, please check there for updates.
If you are having a problem loading a specific site or your homepage start a new thread or find one that better addresses your issue (eg: Google Chrome will not load my home page..). These problems are most likely different from the issue being discussed here.
If you have extensions installed (and can access them) disable them one by one and try loading pages in Chrome. If disabling a specific extension resolves your issue then let us know which extension causes the page load failure.
If you are able to load Chrome when disabling your antivirus make sure Google Chrome is allowed in these programs to make incoming and outgoing connections.

Hello, I'm having issues with chrome for about a month or so. The only thing that works is the WRENCH ICON and the only option that does anything (other than open an empty tab) is Google Chrome Information.
I've installed and uninstalled Chrome so many times,deleting the profiles manually and installing the newest version. Nothing. It's got nothing, it's a brand new install. I have updated my video drivers.
Chrome version: 21.0.1180.79
Google Canary (beta build) works just fine, btw. I can import all my profile data (bookmarks, extensions). But it's so buggy for me I just want to stick to the normal release. Thanks for reading.

Hi, I am one of those who cannot even access Chrome's settings. None of them is available other than "Google Chrome information" where I can check the version of Chrome.
Google Canary, Chrome's beta build works fine for me in the meantime, I was able to manually copy and paste my profile folder into Google Canary's folder and all my personal stuff works there, extensions and bookmarks. For me Canary is buggy as hell and hard to work with, so I want my old chrome back.
I already made a reply to one of your comments with my build info, OS Version and so on. Since this is a free software I'm not complaining, I want to help. Cheers.

Have you tried the right-click>Inspect Elements, then just closing out of it, works everytime, but still sucks! Good luck!

@GB Not sure this is the right place to post this but...
Chrome has just updated to 21.0.1180.83 beta-m on my notebook and I am seeing (via systeminternals procexe.exe) INVALID HANDLES appearing on loading and using Chrome. To a certain degree but not as much, I also noticed it with 21.0.1180.75 and .81

in picture "Chrome loaded to initial screen Process 01 with Chrome icon.JPG" note that it has the correct Chrome icon, and nothing appears to be wrong with that process, but the following 3 processes have "invalid handles" as shown the the next 3 pictures.

I then use the initial browser tab to load any website page and then procexe displays...

The actual number of Chrome processes opened is 7, 3 of which are Invalid handles.
The number of Chrome processes did not increase whether it was 3 tabs or more tabs opened, I suspect that I could have continued opening more tabs without increasing the number of Chrome processes opening.
I then closed Chrome and re-opened it, to note which processes opened, result not exactly the same.

I did this a few times all with slightly different results but always some Chrome processes showing "Path: The handle is invalid" as in my previous pictures.
As I write this post procexe is showing...

Note that all Chrome processes are showing "Path: The handle is invalid" Chrome is actually working hence me being able to post this to you. Bizarre !
On closing Chrome I can see that run32dll kicks in to do the clean up, which it does eventually and closes all Chrome processes.

I do having a sense that Chrome .83 is running slower than previous versions, but then again you are turning lots of things off with your Chrome load switches for people to try out and report back the if anything has improved for them, so I guess that is why.
Anyway this info may be useful to you, or may not.
However I have to put my hardware hat on now and go fix the one of our televisions.

Chrome is working again for me.
I did look at the posts with green on the right and found the solution to get my Chrome working again. In my case nothing worked in Chrome if any anti-virus software was active -- I tested with both Avast and AVG.
Solution was to stop a Logitech webcam driver called LVPrcSrv.exe as per http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Webcams/What-startup-processes-can-I-edit/m-p/353134#M64449
Strange that AFAIK this driver was old and not updated recently. In my case Chrome stopped working recently with a Chrome update.
In any case, thanks to all for sharing here.

You can probably update the driver and then you don't need to stop it from running. Or, if you don't use the webcam, you might uninstall it.

I rekon a lot of users have hardware drivers that have not been updated: display, audio, video/cam. It might be that the old ones are not signed/identified and some Identity Protection feature blocks them from loading. Not a problem until a new program wants to use them.
It's like a dead possum in the barn - you might not know in the winter, but come summer, the smell...

Logitech did not update this driver since 2007.
So this is not Logitech fault!
And I do need my Web Cam working.

The latest drivers ('07) resolve the issue for a number of users seeing total inability to load pages in Chrome.
The problem of intermittent loading will require more user participation to narrow-down which specific extensions/plugins/AV components are involved.
I understand that not all users with the problem have the ability to help; but the solution can only come with community participation, as the problem is obviously not seen in the lab. Every machine is different, once they are placed in service with end-users.
I would be very surprised to see any PC with a fresh install of Windows and up-to-date hardware drivers showing problems with Chrome. I can't even find another machine with the problem. If I can get the unit back that had the problem, I'll install the old QuickCam drivers and let Google tunnel into it for diagnosis.

Okay, then I should tell you that, I'm using the latest Logitech driver and having the problem.
Tyler, of cos I understand all PC are different.
I think all user here, is trying to be helpful, and try to provide as much data as we can, but I don't think Google should ask their user, to do test like turn off their anti virus.
Who is going to responsible if the PC got virus infected? Or things like that.
Anyway, if you guys or anyone in Google cannot re-create a machine with problem, that's another problem of you guys! Try figure it out how to make it, I don't know, buy a PC from user having problem?
I don't think that user like us need to buy a new PC and fresh install a Windows with up-to-date hardware drivers, just because we want to use Chrome to web surf! So bear it, there is billions of user using billions of old PC want to use Chrome.
Try figure it out what update you guys have made make people like us having problem to use Chrome browser. This is what Google should do.
So, Google, please don't ask us to risk our own PC for your testing. We are not pay to test your browser. No matter your browser is free or not.

Brand new Windows 7 machine fresh out of the box. As Gwyneth_Bee has mentioned, I am unable to load any pages including Settings, History, Bookmarks, etc. Here is the environment and what I have tried so far.
Server 2008 Domain, No AntiVirus currently installed on the workstation. Workstation is a Dell Optiplex 900, Windows7 64bit, Core i5, 4GB Ram. Microsoft Updates are current. updated Java and flash plugins.
I have tested logged in as domain administrator, local workstation administrator, and a regular domain user, same result (blank pages).
I moved the workstation out of the domain's normal workstation OU and back into the default Computers container, same result.
I have tried using the downloadable user profile install of Chrome as well as the msi install package, same result.

Get the guys to look at where Chrome uses the Handle "cryptLogoffEvent"
Reason being, about 30 other processes use it, mostly microsoft, but also other 3rd parties processes too.
Chrome and some of the others cannot access this handle, (when I try to read "cryptLogoffEvent" properties, whilst viewing Chrome.exe process in procexe from systeminternals, it yields "Unable to query the object" Whereas, and for example if I view some of the other processes that use "cryptLogoffEvent", they can get at the properties successfully and see the current state of the Event.
I've attached some pictures, the titles are explanatory (I hope).

My Chrome updated about an hour ago to 21.0.1180.83 and it helped somewhat but I still can only load about half the pages I visit regularly. Two or three come up with screen message: "Error establishing a database connection" yet those same pages open without issue in IE. Others just get the circle of death or a blank page.

If that's a bare windows installation on an over-the-counter machine, the folks at Google might have a shot at replicating the issue in the lab.

If you're not able to load any pages in Chrome including Settings, History, Bookmarks, etc. and are willing to help us figure this issue out then we'd like to have you try a different version of Chrome - Chrome Canary.
This version of Chrome is not the Stable version of Chrome, but can be run alongside Chrome Stable. It is the bleeding edge of technology, changes practically daily, and is not for novice users. Canary is designed for developers and early adopters, and can sometimes break down completely. We don't recommend that you use Canary after testing if you want a Stable experience.
Once you download Chrome Canary return to this thread and let us know if you are or are not able to load pages as expected. Doing this will help us narrow down the issue. Thanks.

Seems my white screen of death is not fixed. I am not running with LVPrcSrv. I am trying to load the same home page I have used for years.
Chrome V. 83. Only run with Defender protection, Windows 7 on my Dell.
I do run sync with my Droid and NEXUS 7, which works fine.

Canary is not reportedly as stable as the release version, but I run the developer version with no problems.

OS version is Windows 7 64bit SP1 (fresh out of the box workstation). Has been updated with latest Microsoft Updates. Joined to a domain.
AV/firewall -I have NOT installed antivirus yet. Use Kaspsersky AV 6.0.
Tried incognito in Chrome and Chrome Canary, no luck
Extensions -none except flash plug-in (version 11.4. I installed after not getting Chrome to work.

Like others, I have been experiencing the issue of randomly being unable to load common web pages I visit every day. I tried your suggestion of using Chrome Canary, but the problem exists in that version of Chrome as well.
I do have an additional observation that I have not seen mentioned yet. When I have a web page that will not load, I've tried closing some of my open tabs and then attempting to load the page. Sometimes closing one tab will do it, sometimes it takes closing multiple tabs.
My usual indicator that I will be able to load the page is that I close a tab, and click on the "new tab" tab at the top right of the tab list. When I'm able to get a visual listing of the loaded chrome applications rather than the blank white page, I know I can attempt to load a web page and it should work.

Did any of you guys try changing the name of the exe?? I don't have the pc that has the problem here (is on my GF house), but that was the only solution I found.
GB I'm a developer and can run some test if you need, but not until the weekend (and not sure about them either)...
She has win 7, nod 4 and nothing else.

I have the same general problem, that no Chrome page loads unless I disable part of my AVG antivirus. Specifically I disable 'identity protection' and 'surfshield (within linkscanner)'. Everything else within AVG (resident shield, email protection, and antirootkit, are operating).
I have tried updating my logitech camera software and it made no difference. I switched it off also and that made no difference. All this happened from Chrome release 21.0.1180.60 on. I am now on .83.
I note the warning about '--no-sandbox'. So far as I know sandbox is running if only because I don't know how to switch it off ;-)

Please keep in mind that different root causes can cause all webpages to not load. One workaround may not resolve all these issues. If only parts of the webpage or specific webpages are not loading, please start a new discussion thread so that we can look into it separately.
To help us investigate this issue and get a more accurate sense of how many users are affected, please identify the workaround (if any) that helps. Keep in mind that the list below is not exhaustive. For those of you who use the no-sandbox switch as a workaround, note that we do not recommend doing this as it leaves your computer open to vulnerabilities.
Symptoms: All webpages, including Chrome’s Settings page (Wrench > Settings) are not loading in Chrome when you visit the page in a normal window and also through an Incognito window (Ctrl+Shift+N).
Workaround A (Issue may be triggered by interactions between antivirus, firewall, other program): Please try disabling and closing your antivirus and firewall temporarily. Keep in mind that simply disabling the software may not stop all background processes or services associated with the software.
(Note: If you are using a software to control or monitor the network, please try disabling and closing it as well.)
If you have Chrome Canary installed, please let us know if you are also seeing the webpage loading issue there.
Workaround B (Issue may be triggered by extension): If the extension icon appears to the right of the address, right-click on the extension and select Disable. If you don’t see your extensions next to the address bar (you may have hidden the button at some point) please try workaround C instead. If disabling an extension resolves the issue please let us know what the extension is.
Workaround C (Issue may be triggered by a corrupted user profile or a misbehaving extension): Please create a new Chrome user (Wrench > Settings > Users > Add new user), and in the new window associated with this user, visit the webpages that were not loading before.
If that resolves the issue, it’s likely that your local user profile has been corrupted, or you may have a misbehaving extension. If you were previously signed in to Chrome, you can retrieve all your synced data from your Google Account by signing in to Chrome again on the new Chrome user that you created. You will first have to stop sync on the affected Chrome user.
Workaround D (Issue may be triggered by outdated drivers): Check that all your drivers are up to date. One reported workaround has been to update the Logitech driver if you are using a Logitech webcam.
Workaround E: Boot up your computer in Safe Mode; please note that this is referring to your operating system’s Safe Mode, not safe mode features that may be provided by your antivirus software. If you are able to navigate to webpages in Chrome while in Safe Mode, please revisit Workaround A above as the issue is likely triggered by antivirus, firewall or other protection software settings.
Next steps: If Chrome loads webpages after you have tried one or more of these workarounds, please tell us what they are.

I am using Internet Explorer & it is doing that. I can load the google page, but whenever I type anything in the search bar, it acts like it is loading and it doesn't actually load. It pulls up a completely blank page.

@kronhead, Can you check to see if Chrome is a Trusted program in Online Armor? Open the Online Armor program, select "Programs", you should see chrome.exe in the table. Make sure Chrome is Trusted. The Trust Level may say "Unknown", but you can select the chrome.exe program and click the "Trust" button below. Please let us know what happens.

I am experiencing this problem. I was having a minor problem w/a few sites not loading and figured a fresh Chrome install would fix any issues I was having. Now Chrome is completely unusable. All that happens is I get blank pages for any websites, as well as the settings, history, incognito window, anything really. Just a blue screen w/the the addressbar.
I tried disabling McAffee antivirus as well as my firewall, no change whatsoever, completely unusable. I also ran programs like CCleaner to and Revo Uninstaller to clean up the registry, then reinstall, but nothing, same result.
This is on Windows 7 64bit. Not sure what other information you need from me. Thank you.

I have the same issue here, starting today when I booted up Chrome.
1. 21.0.1180.83 m
The browser was working fine yesterday, and today it isn't working at all. The only changes to the system during uptime yesterday/today was new virus definitions for MSE, and seeing as it still doesn't work with that disabled I am ruling that out.
Quite stomped here, any other suggestions on things to try?

Sounds like you are grabbing at straws.
Remember how we all hated Microsoft for the Blue Screen of Death, well I expect better from Google with this White Screen of Death.
Have you ever seen this problem yourself? Do you run with IE9 on any of your systems?
Work around A - "Please try disabling and closing your antivirus and firewall temporarily." No. I see many different typed of antivirus packages run, including me running only Defender. You can not ask people to shut down firewalls. If that is the problem then you would know it.
Workaround B (Issue may be triggered by extension) Blank means blank, there is nothing in the window loading. I run the two extensions provided by Google and sent you the memory usage for loaded and not loaded yesterday. You would see abnormal usage if this was the problem.
Workaround C (Issue may be triggered by a corrupted user profile or a misbehaving extension): I will delete and reload Chrome to prove this is not happening. I think you need to see this problem for your self or you are just shooting in the dark. I feel your pain.
Workaround D (Issue may be triggered by outdated drivers): Can't you check on start-up for the driver versions when Chrome loads and issue warnings if any are out of date?
Workaround E: Boot up your computer in Safe Mode; I can't see this. You really need to find someone with this problem close by and make a visit to trouble shoot.
I did notice a couple of time when first getting into IE9 it says home page not responding and it starts to self diagnose itself. Eventually it reloads the page. Have you looked at the know problem fixes on IE9, you and Microsoft may be having the same problem?

Ok Update to my problem re chrome . I notice it is version 21.0.1180.83 m
I am using windows XP
Other browsers are fine IE8 and Firefox.
When i try to load chrome i get the message Google chrome needs windows Xp or higher .... ?????? when i go into the settings by right clicking on icon I am unable to choose windows XP..
Please go back to the old chrome ie before July at least that worked ok .I refuse to fiddle about with settings firewalls anti virus registries etc not
I don t have to do that with IE which works albeit slower than chrome.
I have done nothing to cause chrome not to work .. so it must be the devs ...
I do so hope this can be resolved but it s been over 2 weeks now so Im not holding my breath .

Chrome was not working for me, no pages loaded including the chrome settings page. However, disabling the LinkScanner (part of AVG Anti-virus) has seemingly fixed the issue.
Chrome version: 21.0.1180.83 m
AVG version 2012.0.2178; LinkScanner Version 1222
Do pages load when you temporarily disable your antivirus/firewall?Disabling the LinkScanner in AVG does resolve the issue.

I had this problem recently and found that it was my add blocker that was keeping Google+ from loading. If you have anything like K9 or another blocker installed on your device, disable it/them. Double check you extensions, open the extension page in Wrench/Tools/Extensions, and if there are any disable them. Then clear ALL your data (check every box when clearing your data). Then try Google+ again.
Did anything change? If not, post a screenshot of what comes up when you try to navigate to Google+.

my question is why do I need a workaround in the 1st place? I agree software companies..good ones..have the same problems as others, but something that was not broke until a new update was put in and then major bugs..or someone no longer employed put in a bug..humm anyway I have enjoyed Chrome for quite some time and used to refer my customers to use it. Now I have a problem with it and facebook working together. I only had the white page of death for 1 day..and some small strange items since..so I will check back here in say another month and if it's resolved I'll use chrome again..until then have to use something else.
Needless to say the folks at google by just reading this forum seem to feel it's not their fault..but then who wrote the program in the 1st place?

firstly thank you for your thread,and im hoping you can help.im not very pc literate so pls bear with me.im with windows xp and have windows firewall.over the last few days i found i cannot load yahoo from my chrome tabs.its never been a problem before but now i find i can click on other tabs such as fbook or ebay and they load but yahoo wont.when something does happen i get the google ' whoops we cant find it message'i dont know what to do.

As stated above, we don't recommend that you use Canary after testing if you want a Stable experience. Also, did you try all of workarounds A-E posted by me above?

If I open a link from an external source, for example, links on a document etc.
As chrome is my default browser, it pops up like that.
all gray, all tabs named untitled, and I cannot even open the setting page
However, if I open the chrome first, it works great. It loads my home pages perfectly. And if i click on those links while the chrome is on, it loads correctly.
please fix that issue

I tried turning off the firewall and anti-virus, but there was no change. Chrome only loads pages when I use the -no-sandbox method; however, I will not run Chrome outside of the sandbox.
Below is the information you requested:

Ah yes which version are we up to now!? Be it Chrome or Canary both have the same problem. Both only work with
the no sandbox tag. So it has happened, Google's fine browser has become a glitzy twitter client. <.< Oh boy.
I have to use IE8 and Opera for the my real surfing of the web.

My client also has this issue where no pages will open including the wrench settings, I can access other things in the wrench setup.
I got him to run a scan with Avast and nothing, have asked him to run Spybot next, he also has Threatfire which we may try as well.
I disabled the anti virus and threatfire to see if that made a diff but it didn't.
When looking in the task manager in Chrome it shows it there as Utility but I can not stop it or remove it.
Firefox and IE both work ok.
Interested in others ideas on this.

This is really weird:
When I launch Chrome via "chrome.exe", I get the error that we are talking about.
But when I launch Chrome via the "chrome - Copy.exe" that I created in the same folder, everything works fine.

For the most part I bought the integrated features of Chrome, my DROID and NEXUS 7, but now I wish I had bought the Apple.
The support has me second guessing my decisions, and as IBM use to say, you don't buy IBM for its computers, you buy IBM for the three extra letters on the key board, meaning IBM support.

So not sure if this is the same problem as others but here goes.
Many times when I open Chome, my tabs just spin forever and nothing loads. If I simply close Chrome and open it back up again, everything works fine. If I even just open a new tab and start browsing it will generally work. The problem is only when Chrome first launches.
I used to have Chrome in my startup group to open Facebook and it would hang many times. I tried adding a delay in case it was running before the PC was ready but that didn't help. This happens on 3 different PCs I use so I know it's not related specifically to one PC.
All the PCs are running Win7 and whatever the current version of Chrome is. I only started noticing this issue a month or two ago and don't know what caused it to start.

I am having the same issue with the blue-grey screen that comes up for any page, including settings etc.
This happens when i click on any shortcut or pinned version of chrome only. If you open Windows explorer and open c:\program files(x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe then it works fine.
I am using Windows 7 SP1 64bit.
I have tried all the workarounds above an nothing works.
I have also downloaded chrome canary and the same issue occurs.
I am using Mcafee enterprise 8.8 and no software firewall.
Would love to know what is going on, It seems to have happened since about June 2012 this year.

Hi, I'm not sure whether my problem applies:
I've been using google chrome for years without a problem, and I was happily browsing today on my usual sites when it suddenly shut down completely and I haven't been able to open it again since (as in not at all)....
I've made sure I wasn't missing any updates, I follwed the instructions in the case of a corrupt profile, I've scanned the file but nothing.

and google chrome is up to date, whatever version the latest is.

Let me add a little more details as to when this occured for the first time.
I was trying to fix the issue when in my taskbar, the incognito window would not appear when right clicking the chrome icon.
I hope you guys can help because I can't fucking stand firefox or IE and it's been about 10 minutes !!

Do a system restore to the last time you remembered your chrome was working properly.
To do so:
click Start -> All programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore
Then, chose your restore point and click Next and then Finish. Your system will reboot and it will be restored.

I am having the same issues and have also followed the different threads. I was using Chrome and it worked wonderfully!! Then I turned my computer off to go to work, returned home and it wouldn't load!! I have tried unistalling and reinstalling and now it won't even let me run it. Says download complete but nothing is working. Have had to return to Mozilla Firefox which works for all things except some of my games (aggrivating LOL) but at least I have something a touch better than Internet Explorer which is soooooo sloooowww!!
If you find something that works, I would soooo appreciate finding out about it. I have done all the "clearing, rebooting, restarting and reinstalling" I think I can handle. Glad I am not alone!!

I have tried this system restore and in the middle of that.. says I have no restore date... though it did when I clicked it! Tried to set it for just 4 days before the issues and it started, then stopped and told me no system restore. Now I have other issues. Thought Chrome was going to be the answer to issues of slowness and gaming. I was wrong. Worked fantastic for about 3 weeks and just got my hopes up.. Now ... nothing!!

Yes, me too. Chrome just doesn't work.
1. Don't know which version of Chrome, uninstalled and downloaded Chrome 9/2/12
2. Windows XP service pack 2
3. PC Tools Spyware Dr. (from Google)
4. Pages still do not load when disabling Computer Immunization and IntelliGuard
on SpyWare Dr.
5. Browsing in Incognito does not work either. Same result, type web address and
no response at all.
6. No extensions that I am aware of.

Furthermore, when I hit "enter" after typing a web address, there is no motion of the "blue 1/4 circle" moving in a circular motion (indicating that the site is being opened-comparable to the green bar on Internet Explorer). Also when I first open Chrome and while it is loading, a window displays that Chrome preferences cannot be saved; this actually started about three months ago but I could still browse. Also, I am able to browse using Internet Explorer but of course it sucks.

I use both Chrome and Comodo Dragon - both are currently useless without "--no-sandbox". I'm surprised that Comodo and other derivatives aren't putting pressure on Google to sort this quickly. Double check to make cure compatability mode isn't enabled. I don't know how but after 3 or 4 clean installations: working in both safe mode and a different profile, the compatability mode was switched on. Disabling this has fixed the issue for now.

Multiple un-installs/re-installs, various anti-virus scans.
C: Can't even reach that...
D: I did update my drivers, nothing.
Chrome has been working fine for months but as with so many others it crapped out (today) for no apparent reason...so it feels like a fault of the program itself. I have no definitive proof other than hours of frustration, but there it is.

Deleting the support for Logitech Webcam has solve my problem!
Before doing that, I attempted booting up in safe mode, but that would not work. The PC completely stalled after installing some ??440.zz stuff.
Now that I have completely uninstalled the webcam, it appears all is good. The first step after starting Chrome was naturally to register on my old address.

Hi, my Google Chrome was working fine, like the others for a year. Now, for the last 3-4 days, I cannot get any thing on my New Tab page. Incognito browsing works, I've checked all of the issues mentioned above. Unfortunately, I'm unable to attach a screen shot. 1. latest version -- translation: i don't know -- have uninstalled/reinstalled numerous times so it has to be latest version
2. windows7 -- have forgotten where to look
3. norton & mcafee
4. not safe to temp. disable
5. IE, comodo and firefox work -- just not chrome -- firefox is just too slow and comodo not compatible with norton

I have the same problem and on two computers. It happened this morning. Uninstalling, reinstalling did not help. Rebooting one system did help. I have not rebooted the other as I was interested in finding the cause of the problem. On the other system I brought up chrome using --no-sandbox. I turned all extensions off. Did not help and neither did incognito tab. Microsoft secuity essentials with Malware Bytes Pro and no problem with scan. Cannot even load "settings".
Event logs show no problem nor does dbdiag service show any problem (this system is set for visual studio developer)
One clue: After clicking a url about 20-30 times I actually got a page to load in chrome that actually worked. I was unable to replicate this after closing chrome and trying again.
The system that I rebooted seems to be working fine. I signed into google as I had re-installed it before rebooting. It seems to be working. I assume rebooting my other system will fix the problme.

For the last few days google has not been loading, after a few minutes the page will finally load, but it takes forever. Internet explorer loads very quickly. I use Windows 7, Norton 360 just renewed, my isp said it was my network card, the manufacturer, HP said it is the router, and have ordered a new router/modem...uninstalled goodle and reinstalled, chaanged password, spyware deleted, cashe emptied, history deleted, ...what else could be causing chrome to not laod after it has been loading...and why does it not laon but explorer laads fast....hmmmmm.?

you need to chill in the paranoia dept.
I (and I am sure at least a few others) do not use any AV or fire wall on a WInXP box, behind an ADSL router + 4 port hub.
The secret is (mostly) "dont use IE".
The second secret is "know your registry".
You should be reasonably safe doing a "Safe mode with networking" long enough to test if you can browse web pages with Chrome (a couple of minutes max.)

I thought I had a workaround to this blue/gray screen problem - it involved simply renaming the file from chrome.exe to something else.
That fixed it for a month but after a reboot the problem has reappeared and this time renaming does NOT fix it!
Really disappointed to see that this problem is still outstanding and Google has done nothing about a major fault in their browser. Thousands of people are hitting this problem and there is no solution. None of the workarounds work.

Ok, I found another workaround. Don't know how general this is but here goes..
I deleted the Default directory in the Chrome profile area which is located here:
Fortunately I had a backup of the Default directory from a month ago when it was still working.
So sometimes it can be down to a corrupted profile. Fortunately Google Sync is now pretty useful as it saves extensions, apps, in the cloud and you don't have to go adding them back even after wiping the profile.

I am not much of a "tech" person but just to load this page it takes 3 seconds. I tried going to speakeasy.net just to check internet speed and chrome could not load image; only advertisements. Explorer had no problem. I used to receive a google chrome crashed on top of my tool bar so I uninstalled and reinstalled and that got rid of the bar but it is extremely slow if loading at all. Please help.

It works fine however, if I click on another tab and then click back to the problem tab. I've uninstalled and re-installed Chrome twice, to no effect. Obviously, I'm not willing to go through these extra steps every time in order to be able to use Chrome. I do not have this problem with Explorer.

this is what I see when I try to open my Google latitude account on Chrome.
Latitude has been a mess for a month on all devices and browsers, only working for about 1 day out of every 3... but now the above error shows up which is new... and I cannot even load the non updated Latitude page.
what a mess. and I never have gotten a reply to my 15 requests.

Mine just won't load anything and eventually I get the message about "killing" the page(s), which of course does nothing. What has worked for me to recover is, disable a FB game addon I have installed, clear browser cache, and also unpin Chrome from the taskbar. Once I have done those three things I seem to be able to launch Chrome and load web pages just fine. Eventually I can re-enable my game addon and re-pin Chrome to the taskbar without reintroducing the issue.

I agree with you Tyler, I have used Chrome for a few years and there have been problems just like FireFox and IE has. As newer versions of all are released it is inevitable some previous software may no longer work or it may even cause problems.
The reason new versions are built is for better safer & easier use. They would be going backwards trying to keep up with older software. Thats how it is.
Heres an easy solution when a problem arises like the previous posters have.
1.Un-install Chrome completely. Then restart your pc and download a fresh copy and install it. Simple & no stress. You can save your bookmarks settings etc if you need to.
2.A recent problem that I had started when Adobe issued an update for Flash Player and the world went bonkers. It mainly affected FireFox but also Chrome.
After some thought I made a new user profile in Windows (User Account) very simple.
I now uninstall Chrome if theres a problem I cant fix. Takes 3 maybe 4 mins max.

By using "--no-sandbox" I am able to continue using Chrome with no problems at all. What I don't know is what security risk this is subjecting me to. Any one know???

the first thing that most of us did when encountering this problem was to un-install and re-install. it's a short term temporary fix at best. please credit the rest of us with some level of intelligence.

I have a yellow triangle on my lock in the address bar..if i try to open a friends page on Facebook it continually reloads with nothing on the page.? I was reading in Linux User & Developer magazine that there had been problems with Chrome 20 on multiple platforms and that it may be related to NVIDIA graphics card hardware. I'm running some seriously legacy hardware here and my graphics card is an "NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro" so I'm wondering now if that may be a factor with this Chrome for Windows issue.
Should we be amending the questionnaire to ask more about hardware?

Firstly, I would say that any product or service be it paid for or offered free of charge should meet a reasonable standard especially when it comes from an enterprise such as Google who do make money indirectly from the distribution of their Chrome product. Google Chrome isn't a "knocked this up in my spare time to fulfil a particular requirement and you might find it useful too so I'm posting it on my personal website" widget. Google have built a 'sizeable' profit-making empire based on their free-to-use search engine, browser, operating system and other products and services.
Secondly, this isn't one isolated user with a legacy driver causing the problem being discussed here and I am surprised that the interactions between hardware, software and Google Chrome described in this thread have manifest themselves in this way. It's a peculiar problem which I'm sure will have a peculiar explanation but hopefully a simple solution. However, it's a major issue which appears to be affecting a large number of users since a particular release was issued.
"You can also be confident that there are voluntary efforts working with Google to solve problems and make Chrome better. You can participate by reporting issues as clearly and completely as possible and trying the suggested procedures." Agreed! Unfortunately, there are some who are just chipping in "me too!" posts with no additional information and a number of unrelated issues are also being posted in the thread which is clouding the primary issue. Stop it! :-@ If you can't say anything constructive and relevant, don't say anything at all! :-f
Finally, I would like to say that we have, as a community, come to expect great things from the Google Chrome development team and it is up to them to live up to our expectations! I certainly hope that as their enterprise grows it does not degrade to the lowest common denominator of the other major software and hardware vendors.

It's nice to see that you can decide that an issue is fixed because you posted some "work arounds" that obviously do not work. Have you even read the posts? THIS IS A CHROME ISSUE AND IT IS NOT FIXED! I bet it looks great when you submit your monthly report of how many issues you have fixed ("in August I fixed Eight hundred billion issues from users by posting work arounds" I deserve a raise.) without any mention of whether or not they worked. I agree with other comments. I will not shut off my security to "see if something helps" (what good does that do? I am not going to run without security anyway). Chrome was supposed to speed up downloads, which, in the beginning, it did. But now it is the slowest browser I have - pages don't load and when they do there is often a significant lag. Chrome needs to get it together and fix the problem. We are the customers not the developers. Apparently Google doesn't understand that.

Do pages load when you temporarily disable your antivirus/firewall? - NO
Try browsing in an incognito window. Go to wrench icon > select New incognito window. Are you successful? - NO
What extensions do you have installed? - NONE
Drive opens in every damn browser EXCEPT Chrome. As per usual when Google 'makes something better!'
Here's the thing. This is not the first time this has happened. Not to me, not to many people here. Once Google starts to implement change, Chrome has this issue that it simply does not want to work.
I have had this happen in the past.
NO amount of jumping through hoops has successfully fixed this issue short of uninstalling. I used to love Chrome. It's a fabulous browser, except for this IRRITATING issue of simply one day not working and no amount of troubleshooting, jumping through hoops, holding my tongue right, leaping around on one foot while rubbing my tummy and patting my head fixes it.
Time is what fixes it. Time that appears (and I may be wrong here) Google uses to FIX what the problems are.
So, I doubt very seriously it is 'us'. It is Google. I didn't have this issue recently until I started up my browser this afternoon and noted that Drive was now being implemented instead of Documents. This was working FINE last night when I could get to Documents. This was working FINE this morning when I could get to Documents. This is NOT working NOW when I try to get into Drive.
It is not on my end. It has never been on my end and short of uninstalling the brower, I'm at a loss because there is NOTHING out there that is FIXING this problem EXCEPT Google finding out where it's hiccuping and fixing it.

This is my 3rd attempt to find out what is wrong. I love chrome but am getting frustrated with chrome not loading at all. I use the current version, as chrome says I have it, Win Vista 32 bit, with windows security my extensions that are enabled are TimelineRemove 1.0.4 (I also hate Facebooks new timeline!) I haven't tried the "incognito but will as soon as I post this.
I tried to uninstall chrome, thinking it best to re-install but when attempting to do so, Windows tells me to close chrome. Yet it is closed! Help pleasssseee!!!! I cannot be reduced to IE, can I????

So I believe that the problems most people on this thread are having are related to the registry files of chrome... sadly, uninstalling and reinstalling does not remove/reset these files. You need a third party application to do this.
I found that the easiest thing to do was switch to Chrome Canary. Because it is the nightly version, it has it's own set of registries and other files. This is considered the unstable version because they just add stuff and then update it before they know if they broke anything. But as for me, I've never had any problems with it.

I right clicked and disabled all visible buttoned extensions. Once all were disabled Chrome started working again. Still working after re-enabling all extensions from settings page. Things that make you go hmmmmmmm.

Well I've installed Google Chrome Canary (Version 24.0.1274.0 canary) and the problem persists with that too. Pages won't load, at least not in a reasonable time, unless I disable my AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2012 security software. Is that what others are experiencing too?

XP with AVG 2012 free.
Chrome would start but not load any pages, not even wrench pages.
Initially a disable of AVG Identity Protection allowed Chrome to work but then that method became ineffective.
Found fix by uninstalling Logitech Camera drivers & application.
Chrome now works fine & loads pages.

I have been having issues with Chrome for a long time, Both Desktop and Mobile versions.
To cut a long story short I deleted both some 2 months ago. However, Yesterday I decided to try both versions again as once you have tried 'Chrome' it is hard to get use to Firefox or IE! (Mobile version still causes my phone to freeze and then app to force close)
Alas the same issue (Pages not loading)persisted with the desktop version as before, but this time I decided to investigate it more deeply.

I have an old (9 years) Logitech Pro4000 Webcam. Upon reading a suggestion from an earlier post I uninstalled this device to see if see if it made a difference. It did Chrome worked fine. However.., I use my webcam every weekend to talk to and see my young son, So obviously it is of great importance to me. Continue investigation. >> I re-installed the Software/driver for my webcam (No new updates available). I checked to make sure the webcam worked, which it did, but once again Chrome failed to load pages. So we have the culprit.

Today we released a new version of Chrome 22.0.1229.79. You can update your browser by going to the wrench icon (Chrome menu) > About Google Chrome. We hope that the latest version of Chrome resolves your page loading issues.
