Same printing problem here, which seems to have appeared EXACTLY when Google updated my Chrome today! No matter what I've tried, can't print any web pages in Chrome!

PLEASE give me back version 20 !

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Jason217 8/2/12 6:55 AM
this just started happening to me too... ctrl+shift+P will allow you to print.. it skips the preview step. i havent found a fix yet.. just this workaround.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Paul^ 8/2/12 7:23 AM
Ditto, clearing the cache didn't fix. the workaround doens't work for gmail prints, it prints just the screen, not the entire email.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Jason217 8/2/12 7:24 AM
found a fix: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!category-topic/chrome/report-a-problem-and-get-troubleshooting-help/voxfcrkaZE0

"In Windows 7, right-click on the Chrome shortcut, then add "--disable-print-preview" to the end of the target file name. It should then look like:
"C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe --disable-print-preview"

If you have Chrome pinned to the taskbar or start menu, remove it, then right-click on your newly modified shortcut to re-pin it.

If you use any other version of windows it should be identical, except for pinning to the taskbar or start menu."

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Beverly9949 8/2/12 8:29 AM
James, I have Windows XP, and when I right click on the short-cut icon, I don't bring up anything even remotely close to what you are saying.  I get the usual delete, rename, send to, etc.  Any other ideas?
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Jason217 8/2/12 8:44 AM
Right click on the icon.. make sure its the actual shortcut and not the pinned copy in the start menu, and there should be a properties option. Click on that and add the --disable-print-preview to the end of the target file path.

If you're in the startmenu and right click on the internet icon then you will get different options, since thats actually linking to your Default Webbrowser through your internet options.

You can also try clicking start -> all programs -> and right clicking on the chome icon there.

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Erween 8/2/12 11:42 AM
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Erween 8/2/12 12:22 PM
You suggest to disable the preview? Why not going further and suggest to remove Chrome!!!!
Please find a more relevant answer.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Jason217 8/2/12 1:30 PM
Remove Chrome. Switching to a different browser certainly would 'fix' the problem. There are plenty of plugins available for FireFox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/printprint-preview/) that would provide a preview option.

From everything that I have found online the Preview function is notoriously unreliable in many situations and seems to get better or worse with each update. See the thread I linked to earlier... Which is why I suggested just turning it off so you can print reliably. I don't use Chrome on a day to day basis (i use firefox), so I just have to depend on what i can find online.

You could also try reverting to an older version of chrome, there's probably a way to prevent it from automatically updating again.

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview AngelaA 8/2/12 3:59 PM
+jangeo:  Are you trying to view the Chrome print preview dialogue or your local system dialogue?

For those on this thread that want to use their local system dialogue in M20, there are workarounds detailed in this M20 Beta thread.

If anyone is having trouble viewing Chrome print preview, please try the following:
1) clear cache and cookies (wrench > settings > click show advanced settings > clear "clear browsing data" under the privacy section)
2) disable your extensions one by one (wrench > tools > extensions)
3) make sure you're not blocking 3rd party cookies (wrench > settings > click show advanced settings > clear "content settings" under the privacy section > uncheck "block third party cookies")

If you've tried those and are still having issues, reply with a screenshot of the error you're seeing and submit a feedback report using Wrench > Tools > Report an Issue.

Thanks,
Angela

Hi Angela, I followed all of your steps and am still having the same issue. I have had about 5 clients call me with this issue. Here is a screenshot of what is happening. The print button is grayed out and the only way to print is by click that ctrl+shift+P link at the bottom. Please help

Thanks
Adam

Having the same issue with multiple clients.  Went through the troubleshooting steps as outlined above.  Still having the same issue.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview krash661 8/3/12 8:19 AM
It seems like now days any kind of updates from any kind of software just makes your computer run worse, every time i up date anything, my computer gets worse and wore, whether it's java, chrome, flash, OS updates.I don't understand any more...
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview mikeolear 8/3/12 8:21 AM
A work around is changing the Chrome Shortcut's properties target path...

For Windows 7:
"C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe --disable-print-preview"

For Windows XP:
"C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --disable-print-preview

This will disable Chrome's Print Preview until they fix the issue... printing will then use the standard System Print Dialogue.

The only way I figured out to fix the printing issues which started with Chrome 21 which are (afaik)Print Preview Loading and Duplex/Headers keep getting checked is to uninstall Chrome 21, Rename the user Profile and install Chrome 20 again.

Hi Angela,

I tried all of your suggestions and am still getting the same error as everyone else (I took a screen shot, attached) - well, not really an error, just not doing anything. I'll submit a feedback report now.

Thanks,
Lori

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Karen puzzled paralegal 8/3/12 10:16 AM
Thanks for the work around. I tried rebooting and turning off the printer, etc., but that did not help.  Chrome must have developed a glitch. I tried opening and printing a map and tried printing a calendar page, but got the same enless "Loading Preview" screen.

I opened my gmail in an old Windows Explorer format and could print mail (and maps, etc.)

If anyone finds out what happened and how to fix this, that would be great.  Tried to search the web for a phone number to call for tech support, but none found.
Thanks, Everyone

The same thing is happening to me today. It just seemed to start this afternoon. I am trying to turn off the Print Preview feature and cannot figure out how. Sometime is will let me print from the system dialogue. It is driving me nuts. I can print in IE just fine, but I do not like using IE. I would like to print in Chrome

Angela,

Do you have an update on what is happening? This is making for a very frustrating Friday.

Thanks,

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview ElginGC 8/3/12 12:08 PM
Another possible workaround that I have seen work on XP sp3 machines is to change the printer to "save as pdf"

The Print preview loads and you can save successfully as PDF. After which you can print the PDF.

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview AngelaA 8/3/12 1:24 PM
Hi all,

I'm checking with the engineering team on this issue and will let you know what I hear.  In the meantime, you can print with the system dialogue by pressing Ctrl + Shift + P on Windows or Command + Option + P on Mac.

Thanks,
Angela
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview AngelaA 8/3/12 1:44 PM
For anyone experiencing this issue, please send us the Javascript errors to debug:
- Right click anywhere on print preview
- Click Inspect Element
- Select the Console tab
- Either c/p or send a screenshot of the errors you see

Thanks for your help!
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview AngelaA 8/3/12 2:46 PM
Hi all,

The team has identified the issue and is working on a fix.  In the meantime, you can try these solutions:
1) Installing either the XPS Essentials Pack, NET 3.0 or NET 3.5 should resolve the issue (note: make sure to restart Chrome after installing)
2) Use "Save as PDF" or Google Cloud Print printers
3) Use the local system dialogue-- either by clicking the system link in print preview or using the shortcut ctrl + shift + p on Windows

Update: the team has been actively working on fixing this issue and if you're interested, you can follow the bug crbug.com/140044.

Let me know if there are any other issues.

Thanks,
Angela
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview renWeb 8/3/12 2:59 PM
Yeah, getting the same as others. I tried as you suggest and just get a blank - screen-shots attached.

I'm a Web Dev and was mid sorting special page printing for a client when this delayed and cost us dear the last couple of days. Auto, no-choice updates - yeah right!

Have used Firefox with Firebug etc for the last couple of years and only moved to Chrome a couple of months ago. I guess the 'new kids on the block' are just that...?

'Do no evil'? - we've heard that before!...

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview johnacie 8/3/12 3:43 PM
Same problem here. Stuck on loading preview, can't print email, can't print documents Windows XP Professional Service PAC3 Unable to turn off print preview, Updated to Adobe X did not help. Control, Shift P sometimes works, and sometimes does not and will only print "Google" selection guide from page.  Started sometime yesterday.  I can still print from iPad and word docs.  I need access to printing!  How do I get of this Chrome crap and back to older versions?

Having the same issue with over one hundred clients since yesterday!
And thanks Angela, we are using the print dialog box just in case, However do you have any idea when this bug is going to be fixed? is there going to be an update or we have to wait until Chrome 22 is out?

Angela,

I have about 1000 telecenters that are using numerous applications and the only browser that it has been made compatible with is Chrome.

All of them are currently not operational.

First, when do you think the fix will be out?
Second, we plan to downgrade to version 20 but is there an easy way to disable auto updates on chrome ? I saw a lengthy procedure that is not feasible to execute in all centers.. We are on windows-XP.

Appreciate your response

Mamatha

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview astrojay 8/6/12 3:03 AM
I have had the same problem and my husband has just resolved it by the following
He found an Adobe Tablet file on my system which he  uninstalled and re installed Adobe Reader and it now works fine.
Once installed go to selected programmes from the list and then use Adobe reader and then after that all files will be back to hoe they were.

Hope this helps

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview GoodBoyFrankie 8/6/12 6:34 AM
I installed the XPS Essentials Pack, 32 bit, > restarted computer > and still the issue exists.
I then installed Net 3.0 > restarted Chrome and it works. YEAH!

I'm not sure if I needed to install both but that is the order I did it.

Thank you AngelaA for your assistance.

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview BenC75 8/6/12 7:26 AM
FYI:  I already had .net 3.0 and 3.5 installed and had the issue.  I then installed the XPS viewer (XPSEP XP and Server 2003 32 bit.msi), and then all is well.  However, I am still hoping that there will be a fix??  I do not want to have to deploy all that on 30+ machines for my company.  All machines XP Pro SP3.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview JanGeo 8/6/12 7:38 AM
Installed XPSEP XP and Server 2003 32 bit.msi and yes, it works for me!
As previous post, would prefer a fix please.
Thank you everyone for all your help and replies.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview 1iarrowking 8/6/12 8:57 AM

I am having the same problem.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Black Bird 8/6/12 12:49 PM
That is only one of the problems. The second problem is that when the page does sometime load it directs print to a PDF file rather than your default printer. The third issue is that we use to have a print option that allowed us to print " TWO SIDED".  That option is now gone.  I hope the team is trying to fix all issues including those just mentioned.  Please advise if possible.  Thank-you
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Randy409 8/7/12 4:25 AM
I have the same problem, however, your answer is not a solution for me, if I have to install another Microsoft product or an update, I will stop using Google Chrome, this is a bad answer, screw google chrome then, I'll go back to internet explorer
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Beverly9949 8/7/12 8:11 AM
I have tried that, and all I get is an error message saying that the path does not exist.  I have typed it in exactly as you have written, and I still cannot get it working.  Any other suggestions?

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview UNCPTechs 8/7/12 5:07 PM
Any idea when this will be fixed?  The temporary fixes are not working.  I added '–disable-print-preview' to the end of the shortcut target to disable print preview all together and use Windows print dialog.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview djporter 8/8/12 5:04 PM
I am not sure whether my problem with the printing: print preview screen pops up but no "print" button; instead a "save" button appears.  I deleted the cache, browser date except my passwords and low and behold my problem was corrected.

Good Lord. What a pain this browser is getting to be.

Please answer the question on installing ver. 20, and disabling updates.

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview doug-the-dj 8/10/12 4:43 AM
I have attempted the fixes suggested here without resolve using Windows XP.  Perhaps the good folks at Google will send another update through to fix the printing issue.  According to the posts listed here, the engineers have been working on the problem for about a week or so.  If the fix will not happen soon, send Version 20 through again, fix the printing issue in Version 21 then send the completed and working update through to all of us.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview acurfman 8/10/12 7:58 AM
I've been away from my PC for a week, came back and printer defaults to "save to PDF" but then doesn't save. I think it's defaulting to the google cloud printer, which I'm NOT interested in using. I just want to print to my local printer via a USB connection, and I can still do it in IE. Guess I just found my solution. Thanks for helping me figure it out. No more google chrome for me.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview alelucky7 8/10/12 9:27 AM
I have tried every single thing in this forum with no luck at all.  I must say this is VERY inconvenient!
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview 1checkplease1 8/10/12 12:28 PM
I don't mean to be offensive but geez, there are so many whiners. For you to say "No more google chrome for me," it's just so short-sided of you. Is that how you practice life, my friend? If something breaks and there are people trying to fix it, you just give up?

I agree that this issue is causing lots of headaches and I'm sure google chrome developers are trying hard to resolve it, or at least I want to think they are. There are a million things that can and do go wrong from time to time. Be patient grasshopper.

I have not resolved the issue but I can print using the Ctrl+Print... when the cloud begins to load.  I don't know when it will be fixed and what's going to happen next.

Perhaps you need to uninstall your printer drivers and follow the instructions on how to install a printer so that you can at least continue to use google chrome if you so choose (but to go back to IE----yikes!).  Again, I don't mean to be rude and I apologize in advance if you perceive me that way.

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview johnacie 8/10/12 12:45 PM
Sorry leocm, but I agree with those that can't resolve this issue.  Google needs to be more responsive to their users.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview 1checkplease1 8/10/12 1:04 PM
I completely agree with you.  There is no disagreement on the issue of whether or not Google needs to fix it.  The disagreement lies in that patience is a virtue rarely exhibited by many nowadays (sorry for sounding philosophical but I am). Point is this, Angela on August 3, said Google developers discovered the issue and she provided us with temporary solutions. This was 6 days ago. I'm quite positive (or at least want to believe) that somewhere out there there is some guy or some girl working diligently to fix the problem and I'm sure they are under the gun to fix it. I too hope it gets resolved rather quickly because it was working silky smooth for me until the issue came up.

It's Friday, so I hope everyone an enjoyable and relaxing weekend. :)

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview drnormal 8/12/12 7:21 PM
The Ctrl + Shift + P on Windows or Command + Option + P on Mac works as a temporary solution as it bypasses the Print Preview window. This feature came as a surprise when my 75 year old dad called and said he couldn't print his emails. He is on an older Windows XP 32 bit Dell laptop with modest RAM. My 8GB Mac with Lion is not seeing the issue.

Anyone looking into memory use of the Print Preview feature?

Also, can we have a Setting in Chrome to Disable the feature?

@drnormal - there is a way to disable the print preview.

go to http://techlogon.com/2012/03/29/how-to-disable-print-preview-in-chrome/

Note: this is done at the shortcut level. So if you disable your desktop shortcut your toolbar shortcut is still enabled. You would have to do this to each shortcut.

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview doug-the-dj 8/16/12 3:55 AM
I must assume that new updates are automatically downloaded each time a person logs on to Google.  If that is true, this latest update has NOT solved the problem as I still cannot print emails in XP and the "loading preview" is not working.  Thanks.

Thanks Chrome people - it works with 21.0.1180.83!
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview cashclaims 8/22/12 10:43 PM
I am still having this issue after update 21.0.1180.83 when I first start my browser it works when i print but if I want to print anther page I get the preview message and unable to print.

This sucks...

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview cashclaims 8/23/12 7:37 AM
Version 21.0.1180.79 worked perfect for me and is still working on my laptop but my laptop has updated to new version and is prompting me to restart. I have 2 desktop PC's with update and now every time I print I have to restart chrome. Please fix this sucks!!!! When chrome is restarted it will print one time and work great but any additional prints it stops on the preview page and does not print or show the preview image.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview cashclaims 8/23/12 8:28 AM
Really yours works now. Did you try printing 2 times in a row? Second print does it stop at preview message?
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview plotech 8/23/12 11:20 AM
Same problem here...

Latest update applied(21.0.1180.83), start Chrome, first print works fine, subsequent prints stop at preview with the printer name destination replaced with a string of letters and numbers.  The only 'work around' I have found is to close and then re-start Chrome every time I need to print something.  Not ideal.

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Wisperbird 8/30/12 6:08 AM
Have seen this problem on a fresh install of chrome.

Installing Foxit reader solved the problem.
I never use adobe reader b.t.w.

Can't say if it has to do with a update, since all running machines have Foxit Reader installed.
Only a new machine where I forgot to install it had this problem, twice now (silly me).
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview unoshop 9/1/12 4:18 AM
Just printed the first time in over month using "print..." selection from tools pull-down menu.  It even printed one page and then a second with no hitches.  Hopefully it will stay this way!

Yeah - no more control-shift-P to print.

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview hergn 9/6/12 8:05 PM
Oh you are a life saver! thank you so much you found a solution to this hassle.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Wisperbird 9/7/12 1:19 AM
Like I said in my post 7 days ago.
Just install a PDF reader.
I myself use Foxit Reader because I find it more secure.
But ofcourse adobe reader will work as well.

This bug is known to Google.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Endnoter 9/7/12 6:46 AM
I use all Macs, and the same print problems appear there. I expect more from Chrome.  It is the only browser that jams up my printer, and then I have to reset it. It's a waste of precious time in my work environment. The simple solution is to use another default web browser. Goodbye Chrome (we hardly knew you).

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview melichte 9/7/12 11:12 PM
It's not fixed for me.  I am running a laptop with Windows 7 64-bit and I all of a sudden (last week or so) can't print at all from Springpad.com with it crashing at the print preview.  I have tried all of the suggested fixes - dump browsing info and cookies, unblock all pop-ups, restart Chrome, print to a pdf, use the system dialogue - nothing works.  Very frustrated.  And it is not just my laptop, also my Windows7 64-bit desktop also will not print from Springpad.  Springpad says it's you and you'll probably tell me it's Springpad, but I just need it to work!  I can print from IE, but I hate it and don;t want to have to keep switching back and forth.  Please fix.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview HNB613 9/11/12 6:48 AM
Exactly the same situation for me. If this isn't fixed soon, it's back to Firefox for me.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Wisperbird 9/12/12 5:27 AM
I do not know what version of Chrome you are using.
Mine is 22.0.1229.26 beta-m
you may download it here.
It is "as far as I know" a PDF problem.
So you may succeed using the Windows Print-Interface, using [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [P]

Your English text will differ of course.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview rrhsandman 9/13/12 8:27 AM
Be advised that I'm seeing this behavior on a windows 7 system as well. This is not limited to XP.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview doug-the-dj 9/14/12 3:13 AM
Seems to be working well with XP, 32 bit OS.  I've been printing for several weeks without any problems.  Perhaps the issue still resides with Windows 7 or perhaps with 64 bit OS's?
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Wisperbird 9/14/12 7:33 AM
No it is a problem with a missing PDF reader.
I have no problems with XP nor Win7 32 bit nor Win7 64 bit.
Just install foxit reader and you will be able to print
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview melichte 9/14/12 3:22 PM
Didn't work for me.  Made no difference at all.  Still bombs every time that I try to print.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview BenFDC 9/17/12 2:30 PM
I'm having the print preview problem on Chrome Version 21.0.1180.89 running under OS X 10.8.1, with the "Docs PDF/PowerPoint Viewer (by Google)" extension installed.

The ⌥⌘P work-around makes Chrome functional, but it'd be nice to see this bug permanently squashed.

Excellent fix.  Thanks!

Has there been a solution to this? Both my home and work computers are having this issue, and not able to print from Chrome.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Michael H 8 9/30/12 2:55 PM
Hello, I did figure out the issue for my computer.

Your driver was probably not built for 10.8 and you will need to re-install a 10.7 version of the driver if you can find it. I had to download my driver from Samsung and re-run their setup program.

Once you have re-installed from their program, you will then need to remove the printer from System Prefs, re-add the printer and click the "Repair Permissions" on the "The printer software was installed incorrectly" dialog box when it pops up (see link). That fixed the issue for me.

Here is a link from OKI with screenshots if that will help. Good luck.

Nops, this feature is not related with my point.

On my XP SP3, the preview loads normaly.

My query is concerning the wrong default printer, how do I change it ?

I am not getting an error message.  When I click on print on any document it shows the Chrome print box but immediately closes without allowing printing.  I tried printing an email.  It did not work in Chrome but had no problem in Firefox.  Same printer.  Any suggestions?
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview youngjedi 10/15/12 9:57 AM
Angela,
I have a slightly different problem. I have attempted the the solutions you have posted, but to no success.
I have a couple of computers which are set up with duplexing and works great through everything except Chrome. When printing from Chrome, I do not get the option for duplexing and everything prints out single sided.
Thanks,
John

I have several users currently having an issue only when trying to print Microsoft Office documents. They can open and view PDF's fine. Current version is 23.01271.64. Have tried clearing all browsing data. Have tried disabling print preview also and still have issues printing. Have tried the ctr+shift+p method and can print but the formatting of the text is screwed up. .net is at vers 3.5. Anyone have a resolution or any other workarounds?
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview DLMaynell 11/27/12 2:42 PM
We use chrome on a Mac and have the same issues.  I've found that not all work-arounds work properly.  The steps I use are either selecting the option to print from the document if applicable then forcing the print from the screen where it becomes hung up by CMD-opt-p, from this point I either Preview or display as PDF.  Sometimes I save as a PDF if my document formatting is not correct then print.  Yup, I agree, it's a pain... >_<

What program do you use to view PDF files ??
You can check about:plugins if you like
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview ericsr 12/13/12 5:19 PM
ANy updates on this? Chrome 25 is still broken when printing from my Mac. Command + Option + P works.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Wisperbird 12/14/12 12:52 AM
For me this looks like proof for my point of view.
So I'll tell it one more time.
Chrome needs a PDF plugin to be able to show the preview.
I use Foxit Reader for this purpose.
Whether this works for Mac I do not know. But there will be Mac Versions of a PDF reader, I'm sure.
Look in Chrome://plugins to see if they exist or whether there may be a conflicting pair.

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview LocalSDhomes 12/29/12 7:28 PM
Tried disabling print preview. Was unsuccessful. ctrl+ shift + P just freezes chrome, "Google Chrome is not responding" then I have to close it. Using save as pdf doesnt work except the first time. Im thinking it has something to do with the default printer not being selected since I previously chose save as pdf. ex. first print has default printer selected and second print has save as pdf selected and local printers wont load, preview never shows up and chrome freezes.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview rhj2306 1/2/13 5:34 PM
Best answer - dump Chrome.  That's what I'm doing
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview LocalSDhomes 1/2/13 5:52 PM
I uninstalled my printer and reinstalled with the disk and chrome works now. I only have the chrome PDF enabled, I had nitro and adobe last time.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Vikki Baxter 1/16/13 3:25 AM
Having the same problem.

Have tried disabling print preview but no joy.

Very frustrating, 'ctrl', 'shift' and 'p' not working for me as it won't recognise my printer.

I can print from other, non google, programs.

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Wisperbird 1/16/13 8:50 AM
I too get frustrated, sorry.
Why is it that people will not tell me what plugins are active.
As localSDhomes tell's us it works with the chrome PDF plugin enabled.
So please Vikki, type in your address-bar "chrome://plugins/" without the quotes and hit [Enter] to see what plugins are active.
Hope we can help you further.

When [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [P] does not display your printer I fear there was something going wrong during install.
Normally it will directly go to the Windows printer selection.
But you might want to try to use the "use windows dialog" at the bottom of the Chrome interface.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Bea Grant 1/17/13 6:11 PM
hi there,
I use windows 7 and my chrome stopped letting me print and goes to save as pdf instead, what can I do? I don't want to switch browsers...but this is very annoying and inconvenient
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Wisperbird 1/18/13 8:24 AM

Here you see the print interface.

First arrow.

Wijzigen (change) will open a popup where you can select wher you want it to go.

Second arrow

Here you can chose to go back to the old Windows way.

I open a document in Google drive and I click the print button then Google chrome dialog appears but just continues to show print preview message with no print preview and nothing prints when I click print button.  I NEED SOLUTION.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Wisperbird 3/6/13 4:56 PM
Did you read the thread and what did you try.
Did you try to install Foxit reader and/or disable adobe reader.
Just tell us what you did.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview RonTheTech 3/7/13 7:23 AM
I switched between open in adobe reader and open in PDF viewer in chrome.  Didn't work (of course closing and opening again).  What did work was simply rebooting PC.  I did try to install Foxit and that didn't work.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Wisperbird 3/11/13 3:49 PM
Sorry I don't get it.
Did you reboot after installing Foxit.
Well if that is the case and it did not work before, then installing Foxit did the trick.
If it needed only a reboot to fix the problem, them why post a question.

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview RonTheTech 3/11/13 6:26 PM
Please  send me link to Foxit?

Whisperbird, are you working for Foxit? We have a problem with Chrome and maybe it's connected to Adobe Reader. The problem with Chrome will still persist even if we install Foxit. That is not a solution so please stop posting it over and over again and flooding this forum thread.

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview mudwoman 7/18/13 9:19 AM
Is this still an active thread? I JUST started having this problem about a week ago. Cleared cache and cookies - still sticking. I've disconnected Cloud Print, and changed my default printer, but still have print preview continually stuck on "Loading..." Never loads, never prints. Ctrl+Shift+P just freezes Chrome. This happens even on simple pages, with little on them, so it's not just loading a large page.

I don't want to uninstall/reinstall Chrome because of all of my extensions. Any progress on this? Again, it JUST started happening a few days ago.

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview mudwoman 7/18/13 11:09 AM
Ok, no sooner do I whine about this than I appear to have fixed it. After clearing cache and cookies, I did a reboot (which I am quite sure was not the magic bullet, as I have done this countless times without any success, but I mention it because I did it). Then I disabled all of my extensions. Ta da! The print function returned. So I reactivated each extensions, one by one, and tested the print each time, and NONE of them triggered the problem. I even reactivated the ones which were not active when the problem appeared, and it still worked. The problem's appearance was not specifically timed with any new extensions or updates. It was roughly around the time I had a "stuck" Windows update, which cleared with several reboots, although the Chrome printing issue persisted even after other problems cleared. I suppose that last reboot might have, just coincidentally been the one that finally cleared things up, but that's kinda odd. I rather suspect I toggled something with my extension switching. So if anyone else is having this, give that a try.
Here's how to switch extensions on and off:

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Wisperbird 8/12/13 2:28 AM
Hello Mudwoman,

Thanks for your reply. I too had once a weird experience with extensions. My adblock just stopped working. I had to remove it and re-install it.
I hope this will help many people.
I myself do not think reboots will solve problems. Updates causing problems I second.

By the way, Chrome synchronizes most of your extensions.
Why a extension like IETab is not synchronized, I do not know.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Printing Issues Blues 8/15/13 1:04 PM
I am very angry, this Chrome is not letting me print.  Honestly Google cloud print is stupid and confusing on so many levels.  It will not let me print or open up files.  I got five extensions from the Chrome Store just for that issue.  the printer I have a printer that is not a cloud printer and I know my mom does not want me to by another printer just for my computer.  We have a lot of computers in the house that are connected to all the computers.  Please fix this issue this is getting really upseting.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Wisperbird 8/16/13 12:55 AM
I think you should start a new question in the future.
Google Cloud Printer is for the Chromebook.
You can of course use it with a desktop as well, but there is no need for that.
But you have to remember it prints on an other PC to which the printer you select is connected.

So you can print from your laptop/mobile phone to the printer that is connected to your desktop.
The desktop have to be up and running for this to work.
Don't forget that Chrome should be running and cloud printer installed on that desktop too.
So you don't need a cloud printer, just a PC with a printer connected to it

P.S. Cloud printer does not need a extenstion.
Is to be found in settings.

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview RonTheTech 8/16/13 5:48 AM
Correction sir.  Google cloud printing was introduced YEARS before Chrome Book was released.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Wisperbird 8/16/13 10:24 AM
Correction sir,

I downloaded Chrome OS years before Chromebooks were sold as we know them now.
And since Chrome OS does not support attached printers Google CloudPrinter was introduced in Chrome.

But you are right, I should have said Google Cloudprinter is for Chrome OS.
All the other OS-en support attached printers (Firefox OS and others excluded).

To complete the picture.
In Chrome OS you will find a chrome browser that is almost identical to the one used on your desktop.
But there are some apparent differences. To name one; You can not create quick links on your desktop as far as I know.

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Stephen and Lisa Flood, Martens-Flood 8/21/13 8:07 PM
Hi,
I'm having the same problem with a spreadsheet I created in Drive within Chrome both at home and at work.  Home is Windows 7 Ultimate and work is XP.

I'm guessing but at home I use my BB as a modem and sometimes the connection gets lost.  So, there may be a segment of time sensitive code that doesn't get created and the spreadsheet and/or folder is corrupt.

I was able to copy and paste the spreadsheet to a Drive document and print the document within the same Drive folder.  I was not able to do the same with a different spreadsheet within the same Drive folder.

Another stab at the issue is Flash.  I don't know if Drive has anything to do with Flash, but the buffering isn't friendly for older computers and OS.  Lots of paging faults.

My versions of Chrome are up to date.

Thanks,
Steve.

Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Joseph Roepcke 8/28/13 6:27 AM
The issue with not being able to print Google Drive docs/sheets/presentations, etc. from the initial print dialog and that preview does not work seems to be back. The previously stated work-arounds via the system print dialog or downloading a pdf still work, but it adds extra steps and undermines the cloudi-ness of cloud printing. I think this bug has officially re-surfaced.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Wisperbird 8/28/13 1:09 PM
On the Dutch forum google guide Ben says it is a known issue and that google is working on it
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview Joseph Roepcke 8/28/13 1:19 PM
it's been a known issue before. i have seen several threads where this issue was surfaced in 2010 and 2012. then fixed. then recurred.
Re: Printing Problem - Will Not Load Print Preview PGRLLC 8/30/13 10:33 AM
I simply click CANCEL on the print preview screen which then opens it up in another window and right click, choose print. Annoying but a simple work around for me.
