|Silverlight 5 doesn't work in chrome from a Mac. Works fine on Windows or from Safari or Firefox on a Mac.||jprewitt||1/11/12 1:28 PM|
Google Chrome version 16.0.912.75 on Mac OS 10.7.2 with Silverlight 5
I'm not able to type in any Silverlight text box (http://samples.msdn.microsoft.com/Silverlight/SampleBrowser/ClientBin/RTAFormat1.html). It works fine if I use Safari or Firefox or switch to Windows.

Go to /Library/Internet Plug-ins/ and get Silverlight.plugin
Then, find Google Chrome.app, right click it, show it's contents.
Go to Contents/Versions/(newest version)/Google Chrome Framework.framework/Internet Plug-Ins/
and paste Silverlight.plugin.
Restart Chrome. Silverlight should work now.

Silver light is installed correctly, because everything shows up fine. The problems is that when I click inside of a text box I can't type.

We are seeing the same problem as described in jprewitt's original post. Silverlight UI shows, but one can't type into textbox.
This seems to have started with updating to Silverlight 5 on the Mac. We believe it was working fine with Silverlight 4.

Same here. Copy past does work. Also working on a Mac.

Same here. Developed a Silverlight application and when we upgraded to Silverlight 5, all text input for Apple OSX + Google Chrome (any version) fails.
All other browsers do not have this issue. Google Chrome on Windows does not have this issue (thank god!).

Same problem here. "Upgraded" to Silverlight 5 and text boxes don't work with Chrome. Anyone having success?
I can't figure out how to uninstall Silverlight 5 and put 4 back on.

And the same problem here, I can confirm there were no problems with the previous Silverlight plugin & Chrome for Mac, since the update I can't type in textboxes in a Silverlight environment.

Similar problem, Chrome becomes unresponsive while accessing Netflix.

According to Silverlight docs, OSX + Chrome + Silverlight 5 is not a supported configuration. Go here and click on System Requirements:

En other option is to reinstall and follow these instructions;
Enable or disable Silverlight plug-in
The Silverlight plug-in is enabled by default. You can enable or disable the plug-in at chrome:plugins.
Type chrome:plugins in the address bar.

I also see this with the current version of silverlight. I'm unable to type into Silverlight text boxes... forces me to go back to Firefox... ugh.
