| Chrome Remote Desktop | Timothy Arvin | 30/11/14 16:31 | Hello, I am trying to use Chrome Remote Desktop on Ubuntu 14.04. I have been screwing around with it for a while now. I want access to my desktop (Ubuntu) from my tablet (Android). I have set up everything so that the pin goes through on my tablet but all I get is the wallpaper. I can move the mouse around on my tablet but there is no control being relayed to my desktop. I have opened the terminal and tried changing the resolution via /opt/google/chrome-remote-desktop/chrome-remote-desktop but i am met with This script is not intended for use by end-users. To configure Chrome Remote Desktop, please install the app from the Chrome Web Store: https://chrome.google.com/remotedesktop. I am really new to Ubuntu and linux. Thanks |

| Re: Chrome Remote Desktop | Jeffrey Godwyll | 25/12/14 17:27 | Hi Timothy and Steven, Thanks for posting in the Chrome Forum. And a BIG BIG welcome to the Linux Family :) It's my guess that you're trying to use Unity right? Anyway what has worked flawlessly for a similar setup like yours is to install a lightweight desktop environment. I prefer XFCE: sudo apt-get install xfce4 xfce4-terminal Edit your ~/.chrome-remote-desktop-session file to contain the following at the beginning: exec /usr/sbin/lightdm-session "startxfce4" Then restart the service: sudo /etc/init.d/chrome-remote-desktop stop sudo /etc/init.d/chrome-remote-desktop start Cheers, Jeff. |

| Re: Chrome Remote Desktop | Jeffrey Godwyll | 27/12/14 18:40 | Create one then in your home directory and put in it: exec /usr/sbin/lightdm-session "startxfce4" and save it. Then continue the steps from above. |
