Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this AMatthews989 7/26/12 7:03 AM
Mine is also still completely down (GChat). I don't know what the difference is between GChat or GTalk, but both my computer and phone app are still not working
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this Allan M. de Azevedo 7/26/12 7:13 AM
Yep... You're right!

It's showing my contacts list [who is available, busy, etc.] but I can't chat with them. But, this is a progress! :)
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this Allan M. de Azevedo 7/26/12 7:18 AM
AMatthews989,

Google Chat = Google Talk

The service of Google Talk is down... Then, we can't chat whatever our device [phone, computer] since the service isn't fixed. :)

I checked out the post and it said that it should be completely fixed now, but Xperia Play still has cannot connect to chat and has a bunch of problems and i cant get any information about what is being done to fix these problems. Im seriously considering to screw the warranty and just try to downgrade the software to were it at least works mostly correct. :(
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this aks752 7/26/12 9:36 AM
not able to connect still........... my gtalk is stuck on signing in please help
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this radio_babylon 7/26/12 1:09 PM
still down. cant connect at all from chrome extension. can connect from pidgin or gtalk desktop, but unable to retrieve friends, or send/receive messages. only thing that works is android or gmail/g+ web client.

eta, please?

or did google just do what google is prone to do, and disable support for all non-web/android clients without either admitting to it or telling anyone?
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this wanderingjoe 7/27/12 1:31 AM
Still unable to use Gmail call phone, which was previously fine.  Dialpad screen keeps saying I need to download the voice plug-in, which I already had, but even re-loading plug-in does no good.

yes we did nd please tell me how clearing cache, cookies nd browser history is going to have an effect on gtalk?? it's still stuck on signing in btw
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this peetagts 7/27/12 7:10 AM
Yeah i dont have a clue why we are asked to clear cookies and cache for browser history to resolve a gtalk (standalone app) issue???

Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this radio_babylon 7/27/12 7:26 AM
pull a support rep's string, and they say the magic phrase. whether or not that phrase actually makes sense is irrelevant. its the only one theyve got.

not that i think this is going to make it up to a google engineer or anything, but i used pidgin's debug log to examine the xmpp message stream, and im getting xmpp stanza 500 errors. in the two different users i tested, ssl handshake and authentication proceeded normally, after which all xmpp messages sent to the server received a 500-too-many-stanzas error in response, regardless of the message type.

Please do not close this issue as it is not resolved.  Was a there a solution published? If so, could it be republished?

Not able to sign into Google Talk on a PC, Tablet PC, and Mac.
On the PC's I've re-installed twice with no resolution

Launching Google Talk it loops signing in.  At some point it may pause signed in but contacts are gone.  The the client goes back into loop again.
I can access Google Chat via Gmail in Chrome Browser.  Other people can access Google Talk with no problem.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this Wolfviking 7/27/12 12:37 PM
I still cannot make or receive any calls.  Still getting the " failed because of a problem with our servers at 1:34 PM. Please wait a bit and try again." I have tried uninstalling plugin, reinstalling, clearing cache and all that, using different browsers, running browsers in admin...  Same issue keeps showing up since yesterday.  I see it says things should be up and running, well, they most certainly are not.  This is trying to use google chat in gmail.

I am having the same issue here.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this Nick22285 7/27/12 3:07 PM
I am still having this issue while running windows 7, however if i switch to fedora 16 it works fine. the error message i get is: Sorry! The phone call with # failed because of a problem with our servers at 5:01 PM. Please wait a bit and try again.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this ImmiG 7/28/12 2:38 AM
HI folks,

Maybe this question has already occured in prior discussions, however, I cannot find any solutions yet. I can login to my gmail account, can receive emails from third party applications with no further problems. However, I cannot connect to google talk in iMessage on Mac where it asks me for the password over and over again (check attachment). What can I change or can anybody help me out to fix that problem?

Thank you very much.

Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this snapp2 7/29/12 9:11 AM
Exact same problem here.  Can only chat from within browser.  But Trillian on iPhone cannot log in.  Same with Google Talk application on Windows 7.  Everything was fine before 7/26.  Others in the company are back up but I just get "Reconnecting".
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this Dori, Google Community Manager 7/29/12 6:17 PM
Hey everyone,

I'm sorry to hear some of you are having some recurring difficulties signing into chat outside of the browser. And thank you all for the reports. While the main issue that occurred on Thursday was resolved, this "continuous looping" when signing in may be another issue.

I've taken this to the team to investigate further. Thanks so much for your patience and understanding!

Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this pklissas 7/30/12 7:00 AM
Dori just FYI I am having the same problem. Within web browser / Google account Chat works. Stand alone GTalk app continuously signs in the seems to drop and sign in again. I have an HTC Thunderbolt as well and chat works fine there. Appears to be an issue with the stand alone app. Just more info for you.

Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this ITBlogger 7/30/12 9:53 AM
I'm still having the issues on all of the PCs that I have GTalk installed on. It works fine for me on my phone, but that doesn't help me when I work where there's no reception.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this slthomason 7/30/12 10:53 AM
Hi there,

Last week when the Google Talk outage happened, my chat on the side of Gmail, Google Talk desktop app, and Google Talk app on multiple Android devices show the contacts, but don't show a status for any of them.  I also show offline to my contacts.  My Gmail works fine, and when I sign-in I don't get any error messages.  However, something isn't working.  I attached 2 screen-shots to demonstrate what I am seeing.

Help!  This started during the outage last week.  Did something get messed up with my account?  I have tried changing the password, tried it in multiple browsers, etc.  Please help!!!!  I rely on this service!

Thanks!
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this jplacek 7/30/12 11:24 AM
I am, as well.. everything I've read points to the resolution of the outage and things being "back to normal" but no mention of this issue with the standalone client (or 3rd party standalone apps like Digsby and Pidgin).. chatting through my phone or through gmail is not convenient and I feel pretty out of touch right now.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this Monty82 7/30/12 3:47 PM
Hi All, I have same issue since last one week. I have Win vista.

Sorry! The phone call with (XXX) XXX-XXXX failed because of a problem with our servers at 9:26 PM. Please wait a bit and try again.

It is keep crashing for all browsers and all gmail accounts, for all type of calls, Can not make call, can not receive, not even from computer to computer.

What is going on, I tried every possible way, Driver re-installed and plugin re-installed, Browser re-installed, even OS re-installed, Other thing like Skype working very fine but issue is only with GMail.

Can anybody give me some solutions. What google guys are doing. I think it is because of new plugin update. I am not able to find older verion of Plugin to get download. can anybody try with old version of plugin? and post download link of that old ver plugin?
Thank you.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this KeithR 7/31/12 3:32 AM
If you are having trouble signing into Google Talk, another user posted here: https://groups.google.com/a/googleproductforums.com/d/msg/chat/-/ZNKiUSdFyN0J that he was able to resolve this issue by staying signed out for 36 hours.  A shorter time might work.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this EricH27 7/31/12 8:08 AM
Gchat is not recognizing a majority of my colleagues as online. Google experienced an outage last week and even though, the problem is reported as resolved, my account has not been fixed. I did every troubleshooting step twice with no resolutions.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this pklissas 7/31/12 9:42 AM
The problem for me is the stand alone app. I can use talk in browser from google +, I can use it on my android. But the desktop app running on my windows 7 machine is just in a sign in loop. 5 days of this COME ON GOOGLE WHAT THE HECK!!!! I can't even use another app like pidgen to sign in SAME THING. I read on another thread that signing out of all google apps/browser etc and letting it set for 36  hours (What the user did) seems to have cleared up the problem. His thinking is that the google servers are seeing the constant signing in as a flood attack of some kind. Hence staying logged out for a while seems to fix the issue. I haven't tried this yet I have to use GTalk for work so HAVE to use the browser chat. Unfortunately the only way to contact google about this is to post here in the forums. However I can't say I've seen much help throw down to us. Just the "We know there's a problem and we are working on it". Sorry you've been 'working' on it for days how long is it going to take to fix this?
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this Dori, Google Community Manager 7/31/12 9:51 AM
I apologize for any frustrations you're experiencing with Google Talk apps/clients that are outside of the browser.

There are no updates from the team yet, but they are definitely looking into it! In the meantime, thank you so much for your patience!

Also, per Keith's recommendation, you may want to check out the steps that helped another user regain access: https://groups.google.com/a/googleproductforums.com/d/msg/chat/-/ZNKiUSdFyN0J
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this Ashleigh919 7/31/12 4:24 PM
I logged out on my Android phone and out of the Talk standalone app and the Chrome add-on, but I stayed logged in on mail, and I tried it 10 hours later, and it worked like a charm!  This fix definitely works!
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this chrisheacock 8/1/12 9:53 AM
/agree. Make sure you're signed out of *all* third party clients (even google talk and the chrome chat extension). After waiting overnight (while signing into chat through gmail/android) I was able to log back in. Looks like Google is doing a flood detection that fails to take into account service outages and keeps you blocked for trying to login (with their own client mind you) over and over.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this Nick22285 8/1/12 12:04 PM
This still doesnt solve my problem with the server error that google refuses to address, and many other people are having this same issue, i guess google has poor tech support to not ever respond to my error after 5 days.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this Dori, Google Community Manager 8/2/12 1:15 PM

Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this snapp2 8/2/12 1:34 PM
I am still not able to log in.  I have tried staying out for many hours but I am still not able to log in with Google Talk desktop application or with Trillian on iPhone.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this kevasrus 8/2/12 1:46 PM

HI Dori,

I am still unable to click on an online person in Google Talk.  I logged out of GTalk on my iPad, I logged out of GMAIL on my iPad, and I logged out of Talk on my cellphone to see if I would be able to chat from a computer, but I am still unable to.  I couldn't figure out how to log out of GMAIL from my phone.  Do you have any other suggestions for me?  I noticed "Start Hangout" but I have no idea what that is.

Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this Dori, Google Community Manager 8/2/12 1:52 PM
@snapp2 - thanks for the reply. Can you describe the behavior you experience when you're unable to log in to the Talk application?

@kevasrus - it sounds like you're able to successfully sign in, just not click on a contact and chat with them? The "Start Hangout" that you see is because we are upgrading video chat to Google Hangouts. You can read more about that in the Google blogpost.

Thanks!!
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this kevasrus 8/2/12 2:08 PM
I'm unable to chat except from my phone.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this shomitss 8/2/12 11:30 PM
i use an andriod lg p690 mobile with 2.3.4 gingerbread. My problems with gtalk are:
1. Cannot sign in with another account
2. It takes time to show people offline or online despite background data being enabled
3. cannot voice or video chat with contacts like can be done in browser on pc
4. no major update
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this ajnos 8/3/12 12:59 AM
I have looked and the Gtalk after everything is green. I still have no chat. the persons I have I don't see new on chat and I can not invite. dan says this has a problem.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this snapp2 8/3/12 9:04 AM
I finally got the problem solved, and perhaps what I learned could be useful to others.  I have used Google Talk desktop application for years and have it installed on various PCs around my home and office.  I went into task manager and killed the gtalk process on each PC that I thought might be trying to log in but I am not sure I got them all.

So I changed my password, effectively locking out any instance of Goggle Talk that might still be hitting the server.  In 2 hours the problem was solved.  Perhaps some of us that have had this lingering problem have more instances running than we realize.

Also, I am paying for the Google apps and I do feel that this forum is a poor excuse for tech support particularly when we are dealing with a problem that was introduced by an issue on Google servers.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this KeithR 8/4/12 3:09 AM
If you are paying for Google Apps you are supposed to have a contact number for 24x7 phone support.  However, I have read that Apps support doesn't include Chat - apparently it's not considered part of the "critical business suite".
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this planetmikeus 8/14/12 3:26 PM
Having similar problem.  Google Talk will not function over T-Mobile USA either for voice or video.  It will work for text.  However, it does work when I am on WiFi, which suggest to me the problem is with T-Mobile (no surprise).  I am using Samsung T989 Galaxy S2.

Please don't make be go back to Skype, yikes!

Is Viber working for everyone?
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this smoothedward 8/22/12 6:10 PM
My chat list shows people from my contact list offline even when they are online. Additionally, one of those has "Invited" after the name. The person has been a chat partner for a long time so I can't imagine how or why I would have invited her to chat. Any thoughts on how to fix this? I'm using Mac 10.7 Lion, the problem is the same with Safari and Google Chrome browswers.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this NataBo 8/27/12 10:18 AM
But I still have a problem with google talk.

Since friday I can't logon to chat on IE, FireFox and my android mobile divice.

I tried everything I found here but without solving my problem.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this planetmikeus 8/28/12 2:16 AM
Here's an update.

Apparently, Skype does not work over T-Mobile USA either.  It must be the network operator blocking.

Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this bdenton65 8/30/12 3:45 PM
I can log into gmail and use chat via any browser but when using the Google Talk app (Win 7 or XP) I keep getting told I am supplying the wrong password. Have tried all suggestions in previous posts. Any word from the Google team on when this might be resolved? This is hugely annoying as we use this for intercompany communication. Up unitl now it has worked great.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this Dori, Google Community Manager 8/30/12 3:48 PM
@bdenton65 did you set up 2-step verification by any chance? If so, you may need to go and remove and then reset a new password for your Google Talk app.

I am attempting to use messages on Mac OS X 10.8.1 mountain lion with google chat, along with 2-step verification, and every time I try to connect, I receive the message "a network error occurred." I have tried resetting the application-specific password numerous times, to no effect. Mail and calendar syncing works just fine, but I am completely unable to use google talk.

muskan gupta,

Please read the previous replies fully to see if one of those can solve your problem and if not please come back with details of what you see when you try using it on what machine with what Operating System version?
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this KeithR 10/17/12 12:24 AM
Muskan, your issue is different to the one that started this thread and is most likely due to one of the following.  If you have enabled two-step verification on your account, you will need to use an application specific password with Google Talk.
Signing in using application-specific passwords
If not, try clearing Captcha.  This will allow ten minutes for your phone to register as an approved device.
I'm having trouble logging in with my username and password
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this VanMk 11/12/12 3:16 PM
I see this problem has been going on for a while now. I am mystified how I cannot use GTalk via GOOGLE CHROME, while I can do so through every other (Mozilla, Opera and IE) on my computer. So when is the fix coming? People like to use Chrome because it is fast, but if people have to use multiple browsers to do different thing why stick with Chrome? Mind Chrome is a pretty heavy software installation (size wise).
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this KeithR 11/12/12 7:44 PM
@VanMk, this thread is nothing to do with any problem you are having now.  This was a short term issue with sign in.

Which version of Chat are you having a problem with and exactly what is your problem?  I use Chrome exclusively and have never had a problem with Chat from orkut, Chat from Gmail, Chat from Google Plus or Chat for Google (Chrome Extension).
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this VanMk 11/15/12 5:58 PM
I am using the latest version of Chrome. The Gmail plugin was working fine, however, all of a sudden it does not recognize that the plugin is installed. When I access Gtalk from the same computer using a different browser it is working fine. I am a big fan of Google Chrome myself and swear by it because it is efficient and fast, and have stellar features. But this little thing is annoying me. I am sure it is a minor error. To fix it I uninstalled everything, including any registry files associated with Chrome before reinstalling Chrome. Still did not fix the issue. Any gives what else I can do to fix this error?
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this Steve Elsass 11/15/12 7:12 PM
Nuking all of Chrome might not have been necessary.
If it happens again, go into your Chrome Plugins and disable all Instances of Google Talk Plugin.  Fully shut down Chrome, then restart Chrome.
After that go back to Plugins and re-enable Google Talk Plugin.
Many times that will fix what you're seeing.

Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this VanMk 11/16/12 12:52 PM
I am afraid it doesn't see so simple. It doesn't even show up in the google plugin. It shows up in Firefox by not google. I went into the good Appdata folder and the folder with all files are there as it should bit it is not directing it to the .exe file for some reason. If I remove to folder from this location it affects Firefox as well so obviously the plugins in that folder is OK. there must be some other bug that I cannot figure out.
Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this Vineet Subramani 11/26/12 10:44 AM
I'm not able to make / receive calls on my Android (Galaxy S3) with GTalk. I'm trying to call another person also using an Android (Galaxy S3) phone. Both of us have signed in to our accounts, activated the camera, etc.. My contacts show as available, we're able to chat via text, but when i click on the camera / mic icons, it just keeps saying 'connecting' and i hear a telephone ringing sound. But the person i'm trying to call does not get any indication of an incoming call.

Help! Please!

Thanks.

Re: Google Talk Error - Google Team is working to fix this Dori, Google Community Manager 11/28/12 8:31 AM
@Diganta, yes this issue is resolved as it was an outage that we had in July that the team was able to identify and resolve that morning. If you're still having difficulties logging into Gchat in Gmail, please open a new forum thread to provide us with as much detail about your issue and the troubleshooting steps you've already taken.

Thanks,

I am able to login in to gmail and talk on one computer, and i can login to gmail on my laptop, but i get a modal error box telling me "username and password do not match" on the laptop.  I am using 2 step verify and just changed my password.
seems like something may be amiss?
How do i tell the working talk to show me my password?
thanks

@jmaschle, when you have two step verification enabled, you need to use an application specific password with Google Talk.

Mr. Dori, Please note my problem and answer me at least is it possible to get list of connections (from which IP, commonly in "Details") for my gmail account past some time or number of connections.

Thank You very much. I know it may sound like a spam or fraud, but it is not - it's serious problem that could cost me my job.

@Zhovijalno, this is not information that Google provides our users. You may be able to use some kind of third party application to get IP stats but I can't confirm that you can and I wouldn't know a program or how to do it. You can also look at KeithR's post on your own original post.

And, thanks Keith! ;)

Best,
Dori
