Can you scroll down to see your online friends?

yes I can, but it's not lining up and I can never tell if my friends are online unless I scroll all the way down to see the specific contacts. This happens since I upgraded it to ICS.

Your contacts in the Google Talk app should show by affinity, i.e. the people you last conversed with should be at the top... From there, it should start to sort by who is online and available to chat.
Hope that helps,

Actually, it doesn't help. I usually have 10 to 30 people online with my desk-top windows computer. Gingerbread version of Android does the job letting us see who are online, but ICS and higher ones only shows one of two people you last conversed with as online and I have scroll all the way down to see if a specific contact is online. I am now starting to have a feeling that Google is not caring so much about the Google Talk.

Reviving this old thread. I have a Nexus 7 with Android 4.2 on it. Two issues with Google Talk:
1. The people shown when I sort by "Availability (Most popular friends)" are mostly the people I have never chatted with.
2. When sorting by Name, the sort is alphabetical causing the offline, online, and idling friends to be all mixed up. With about 500 people in my list, it's pretty dumb for me to scroll down the whole list each time to get the online status of folks.

I found out something: this is not the solution to having everybody online, but good enough to let you see all the online people.
then it will show you who are online. Note that it is for Group Chatting option. Only to see who are online at once, but it will send all the chat messages to two or more people since it is for group chatting and you should quit that group chatting option before you can start to chat with only one person with the same boring way by scrolling down until you see the person you want to chat with or search the name at the top to find it. Let me know if you guys happen to find a different solution.
