Why does iGoogle immediatly redirect me to Netflix? TOMBAYLES 4/16/12 8:17 AM
When clicking on my iGoogle homepage as I have done forever, the iGoogle page pops up for about a second and then automatically redirects me to the Netflix homepage and there is no way - no time even if I knew how - to undo this, which I never did in the first place. Help!

Did you at one time set Netfix as your homepage?

Clear your browser cache data, and try again.

No I never ever had Netflix set as my home page. I'll clear out my browser's history (that is the "cache," correct?) and report back. Thanks!

Cleaned registery, cache, did all kinds of diagnostics, deleted internet explorer and reloaded it ... and iGoogle still opens to my customized page, the same one Ive been using forever, and immediatly, without time for me to stop it, redirects to Netflix. All my anti-spy/malware programs say my computer is clean and running as it should. Help!!!

Does the problem occur with another browser?

Do you have Netflix gadget in iGoogle?  Remove and test.

Yes I do have Netflix gadget, but my iGoogle pages redirects too quickly for me to do anything - and trust me Ive tried dozens of times to click on the Netflix gadget to delete it but it ignores me because its already at Netflix.

You are using IE8 or IE9?  Take Google.com out of Compatibility Mode and see if it makes any difference.

Do you have any other browser loaded in your computer?  If you do, try opening your home page there.

I'm having the same problem as you are or were having with netflix taking over your Igoogle homepage, so did you ever find a solution to this?

For IE, go to site google.com and then click make Google My Homepage or click the down arrow to the right of the Home button (house icon) or click Tools and click Internet Options. Firefox, click Tools, click Options, click the main tab.

Papa Bear,  Any thoughts on one using Google Chrome?

I have the netflix widget on my iGoogle homepage and it was doing the same thing to me, and I finally just logged into netflix on the screen that it would send me to and then reloaded iGoogle and no more problems. It seems like I got logged out of netflix at some point and instead of displaying the login info in the widget it transfers you to netflix's site to log back in.

Thanks very much for the suggestion, but it did not work.

I found a solution, at least for me.

When iGoogle is loading, immediately hit the 'X' button next to the 'home' button, at the top left of the page.  This stops the loading.  Your iGoogle page may not show completely but that's fine.

Click on the icon that looks like a gear at the far right, top of the page.  Then, click on iGoogle settings.

You will see a list of your gadgets.  Delete the Netflix gadget.

This worked for me.  Let me know if it works for you.

Good luck!

To fix this, leave ig as your home page. Hit the home button and quickly scroll down to where ever the netflix gadget resides. You may have to hit home a few times to be successful. Once you see the netflix gadget, immediately right slick on it and select "stop". This will freeze the gadget which is in the process of sending you to netflix. Now, go in the gadgets menu and delete the gadget. This worked for me.
