GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? Tui_2r 3/13/12 4:53 AM
GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER

I've seen this question posted in many places, but never a resolution that works. Always some hocus pocus, leave it for a while and it will magically work if you delete and re-sync / close your browser / shake your phone over a wishing well / etc. I have tried all of the suggestions and never seen a hint of it actually working.

Google team this is directed at you, please answer the following two questions:

1. Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android (or can you only sinc the primary one)?
2. If so how?
Re: GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? PatrickW 3/13/12 6:19 AM
Tui_2r,

It's of course your choice if you want to wait for one of the Googlers to answer; however, they are very busy people who dive in here when they can - so you may not get an answer.

If, on the other hand, you feel like asking other people for their advice, perhaps you're more likely to get an answer.

Any and all answers are of course welcome. I'd like to keep further questions down to a minimum though. Just to keep the thread clean.

PatrickW if you have a solution I'd like to hear it :)

You can sync multiple calendars on your android device. Assuming you are using the google calendar app on your android phone you can go to menu -> calendars to display -> calendars to sync

you can also add calendars from different google accounts by adding the account to the calendar app first by going to settings -> add account

hope that helps

most android phones come with a calendar app and once you enter your google credentials they should sync
Re: GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? harmoniousjb 3/13/12 2:10 PM
I have my default calender synced  but i can not sync my sub calenders to the factory google app on my phone. Much like the person asking the question. I have several calanders in my google account, I have my default Calander, and I created a calendar specifically for work and another for other circumstances. The ONLY calendar that syncs to the phone is the default one. regardless of any  account and sync settings on my phone it will not do it.

Tui_2rharmoniousjb,

As carib says, you can determine which of your G/Calendars display on your 'phone.

Apologies if the following goes into too much detail (and equally, apologies if it doesn't go deep enough!), but hopefully it'll help you find the app and get the calendars selected.

On the 'phone, please go in to Settings | Accounts & sync, then scroll down and make sure there's a tick/check in the 'Sync Calendar' box

If you then bring up a list of all the applications on your 'phone (on mine, I can do that by selecting the 'Manage apps' option) then scroll down to see if you have an app called 'Calendar'.  On mine it's like a white piece of paper with a blue line at the top, and a scrawl as if someone's circled a date.  Opening it, mine tells me it's version 2.3.6 (presumably because that's the version of the operating system - so yours may well be different, as - of course - may be the icon for Calendar!).

Assuming (hoping!) you've found it, open the app, click on the menu button and select 'More', then the 'Calendars option.  You should now see a list of your calendars, and your primary calendar undoubtedly shows 'synced, visible' underneath the name - and the rest probably say 'not synced, not visible'.

Click on the icon beside the name of each calendar you want to be able to view on your 'phone, and you'll see that it scrolls through various options; however, the first one (synced, visible) sounds like the best one to choose.

Please let us know how you get on.

Patrick

PS In case you're thinking of asking, I don't know if there's a maximum number of calendars you can switch on!  However, I've got 3 userids syncing to my phone, and currently have 19 calendars working on my mobile.

THank you for the clear instructions however.

In my Manage applications I have the same icon as you  explained  I am running version 1.1 and my menu option does not work i can not complete the following steps. I can only force stop or clear data.

I am using a Galaxy S2 if that makes any difference.

Re: GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? PatrickW 3/14/12 11:08 AM
harmoniousjb,

All is not lost - I think you're looking at a different screen to the one I meant!

I think you're looking at a screen which has (in my case) four tabs - ones for 'Downloaded', 'All', 'On SD card' and 'Running'.

If so, I don't want that option - and nor do you! :-)

Go back to your main screen and bring up a list of apps.  On my Nexus, there's an on-screen 'virtual' button which brings up a list of apps - on yours, looking at this picture - it looks like the central physical button might do the same.  The photo in the link displays what I'm wanting you to find - a list of icons across the page, one of which is Calendar.  That's what I meant when I said 'open the app' - sorry it wasn't clear enough.

Re: GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? carib 3/14/12 11:19 AM
Once the app is open i.e. you are looking at the calendar on your phone with no events since it is not syncing you can press your menu button which i believe is the physical button on the bottom left of your phone. One of the menu options should resemble what patrick and i have described.
Re: GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? harmoniousjb 3/14/12 12:24 PM
Yes I have been there, and my calendar is synced with my default google calender, but not my sub calendars.

When i am in the Calender settings...
Open Calendar App hit left menu button  opens menu my options are  -create-, -go to-, - today-, -search-, -delete-, -settings- i select settings, it sends me to the view settings menu

Re: GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? Tui_2r 3/14/12 2:26 PM
I have exactly the same config as @harmoniousjb and same problems.

Something that @PatrickW mentioned was version, my versions are not the same as his - my calendar is version 1.1 and other supporting apps are also lower versions. See attached picture.

There doesn't seem to be any way for me to update my calendar app, also the icon is different to that described by @PatrickW and on the google mobile sight http://www.google.com/mobile/android/ it is rather similar to my calendar storage icon.

Is this possible a Galaxy S2 problem - or rather a problem with the proprietary version of android Samsung puts out?
Re: GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? carib 3/14/12 6:26 PM
i think you might be right. My phone has calendar 4.0 and my older phone had calendar 2.1
When in the calendar menu i either see calendars as an option and i can pick which of the calendars associated with my gmail account i want to sync. If you dont have that setting ig might be the phone manf. version of the calendar app that just doesn't have that option.
Re: GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? PatrickW 3/15/12 9:09 AM
Tui_2r,

That's a great screen-shot - many thanks.  On a side-note, it also makes me feel very jealous: 477MB used, 1.5GB free.  My Nexus One's currently showing 178MB used, 18MB free... :-(

I'm sure the Calendar app in your screenshot is NOT the Google one.  The icon beside 'Calendar storage' is the one I was expecting.  My list has two identical icons: one for Calendar, and one for Calendar Storage.

I guess that still leaves the problem: how do we get the correct app onto your 'phone?

Re: GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? carib 3/15/12 9:25 AM
Patrick that is the calendar app it's just that it is the stock calendar app for Samsumg's version of android. HTC phones have a slightly different icon but it is the same stock app. That is the issue here i think.

His stock calendar app from Samsung does not seem to have the option to choose which calendars to sync. I would suggest asking someone with the same model phone to see if this is even possible.

I had two old HTC phones with this option and a new phone with stock android that also has this option.

Re: GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? carib 3/15/12 9:27 AM
There are calendar apps on the market that have the function to sync with google calendar. It's annoying to have to go with a third party app but at least it try some out to see if they offer the functionality you need that the stock Samsung app does not provide.

Re: GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? Wild Things NY 4/5/12 8:08 PM
I just found this in another series of questions and answers about synching multiple google calendars onto my Android device (I have a Samsung Captivate Glide), and it worked perfectly! So, knowing the frustration, I wanted ot share....

I too could not see all of my google calendars on my "My calendars" on my phone....so it was impossible to view them let alone synch them!
So, here's what I learned/did:

1) The initial sync sets up only the currently displayed calendars on the Google web page.

2) On Google Calendar (web):  select all calendars to be synced

3) On the phone:
Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/Calendar (there may be more than one, as there was on mine) -> Clear data (on all)
   Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/Calendar Storage -> Clear data
Settings/Accounts and Synch -> Synch all

4) On the phone:
Calendar app/Settings/Calendars...WOW!!! All the calendars that I could not view before are now listed!!! Check 'em & Synch 'em ("Calendar Synch")

5) HURRAY!!! All desired Google calendars are now on my phone and I have faith again in this increasingly complicated and time consuming technology-to-make-your-life-better lifestyle! ;p
It feels like the first time in a long time a solution has worked for me with my technological gadgets!

I tried it more than one time but it doesn't work for me....

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2.

:(
Re: GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? harmoniousjb 4/13/12 8:42 AM

it worked for me.... and I also have a galaxy s2, what i noticed that when you log into your Google calendar on the web, make sure ALL of the calendars you want to sync are visible on the main calendar page. you know the check boxes on the left that shows or hides your calendar, make sure they are all visible.

Then clear the data on your phone on ALL the calender apps. and then re-sync. worked like a charm for me! :) (however i did not log out on my google calendar while i synced my phone)  did i mention that i have an s2 as well. ;)

Wild Things NY,  YOU ARE AWESOME!  Thanks for the tip; dated April 5.  Before, I would have to delete my gmail acct from the phones 'Accounts and sync' setting and then 'Add account' back again before any new sub calendar would show up on my Samsung Galaxy II.  This is sooooooooooo great, thank you!!

Check "Wild Thing NY" for a real solution that worked.  Thank you so much!  I searched all over the place and couldn't find an answer that would work before this one.  This one is simple enough too (:  thank you sooo much!

Re: GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? motelmom 6/10/12 9:10 AM
I have an HTC Desire, I use their standard calendar app.  I selected a random date on the calendar- as if I wanted to view what was scheduled that day, then clicked my menu button on phone.  It brings up choices of how I want to view the calendar (agenda, week, month, new event, today and MORE)  Pressing MORE gives a menu of ( refresh, go to, Calendars, and settings).  CALENDARS  is the "magic" one for me... it listed the sub calendars which once I checked, it synced with my default calendar!
Re: GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? S. Mike 7/13/12 6:25 AM
So, this did not work for the Galaxy S3 which I just bought.  I called Samsung and then did a simple unn-install/re-install of my Gmail account and all events added to the Galaxy AFTER this did start synching to my PC.

BTW, concurrently, I was on live chat with Samsung, and the representative was recommending that I do this, instead of the re-nstall of the account:

Rachael: Please follow the steps mentioned below to perform a soft reset on your Phone.

1. Turn off the handset.
2. Remove the battery and wait for 30 seconds.
3. Reinsert the battery and turn ON the device.

I did not do this, but this might be an alternative route.

For what it's worth, this worked a treat on my HTC One X
Re: GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? Mitch'n 8/13/12 8:27 PM
I figured it out!
So I just had this problem with my Galaxy S3; events added to my phone wouldn't sync to Google Calender on my PC internet.  First thing I did was to open the event in my GS3 calender (touch event to pull up detailed view of event) and just under the title looked to see what account the calendar was synced to.  I touched the account and it brought up another edit page with an arrow next to the account.  When I touched the arrow it showed me a list of four calendars:1) My calendar  2) my Google email address, 3) Personal, 4) Samsung Calender.
I choose #2 and saved.
When this did not resolve the issue I opened the event again.  At the bottom of the Detail view there is a Forward tab.  When I hit this button it told me there was no e-mail associated with this calender and asked me if I wanted to add one.  I then added the same gmail account that I choose before and after I saved my events started syncing with Google Calender on other computers.
Re: GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? Galaxy S2 user 8/15/12 12:20 PM
Hey,

Had exactly the same problem

Unfortunately Wild Things solution didn't help me... Actually it also deleted my local calendar on the phone (hopefully I will be able to get it back from my archives)

But suggestion helped me in finding a solution...

Go to:  Settings > Applications > Manage applications > Select second tab ("All" with 4 squares) > AND instead of wiping Calendar and Calendar storage - scroll down to "Google Calendar Sync" and try wiping that one first...

Not sure but I think it has your Google accounts in it and by clearing them - sync will load all new ones back! (I didn't need any restarts etc, just re-sync)

If clearing "Google Calendar Sync" alone didn't help - backup and clear all calendars!

Good luck

I have HTC and the stock calendar app synced ok but I could not move events from one to the other so I now use Business calendar and works like a charm . All edit functions work as well as on pc.
Re: GOOGLE PLEASE ANSWER: Is it possible to sync multiple calendars with Android? brownitus 8/23/12 4:21 PM
Just want to thank Wild Things above, that worked for me after much Google searching and messing about! I use Jorte and I had created a new calendar in my Google Calendar on my desktop PC, but it simply would not show up in Jorte or S Planner.

I did this:

1. Turn OFF "Calendar" option in my Google account sync
2.  I went into Settings > Application Manager and I cleared data of Calendar Storage and Google Calendar Storage
3. Turn ON "Calendar" option in my Google account sync

Now I started Jorte again and boom, there is my new calendar showing up! Thanks a lot :)
