| Calendar changed with daylight savings | MegR | 11/03/12 07:25 | With the daylight savings change, all of my appointment moved ahead one hour! Anyone else have the same issue? Any fixes out there? The only way I can seem to change it is to put myself in the Mountain time zone instead of Central...Help! |
| Re: Calendar changed with daylight savings | Kodokan | 11/03/12 08:08 | Same thing. On Standard Eastern time, and this morning all of my calendar events shifted forward by 1 hour. Can't find any settings that effect a change. |
| Re: Calendar changed with daylight savings | jennifer11977 | 11/03/12 08:37 | Me too! I have it set on Arizona time because that's where I live and we never change time here. But when I went to Hawaii my whole calendar got messed up and now today when the rest of the world changes time and AZ doesn't I have a messed up calender again. Can I fix this so it never changes or I might change calenders!? |
| Re: Calendar changed with daylight savings | Webster | 11/03/12 08:39 | I think I have the same problem. I am located in the U.S. Eastern Time zone. I actually noticed all my appointments were displaying one hour later than they should some time last week, but figured that the problem would fix itself when daylight savings time went into effect. It did not. All my calendar events are still showing up as one hour later than they should. This problem spans google calendar via Chrome browser on my laptop, my android cell phone, and android tablet. If (via Chrome browser), I go to "Calendar -> Setings -> General -> Your current time zone: " and I change to "GMT -06:00 Central Time" the appointments move to the correct time. But that is a crude hack and only affects the display in the web browser, not on my phone or tablet. I also noted that if I change the timezone from "GMT -05:00 Eastern Time" to "GMT -04:00 Barbados" there is no effect on the calendar, the times are still one hour ahead of what they should be. I'm very frustrated. |
| Re: Calendar changed with daylight savings | cindy321 | 11/03/12 09:09 | My views are all off by an hour, but when I try to edit an entry, the time there is correct. It's as if someone thought that the way DST works is that the actual time of an appointment changes from 1015 to 11:15. I'm managing a pre-surgery medication regime using my phone, so this is really annoying. The worst thing is that I found some posts from last year that indicates the same thing happened. It looks as if they didn't bother to fix it. |
| Re: Calendar changed with daylight savings | cindy321 | 11/03/12 09:18 | I just did a search and found out this problem also happened in 2009 and 2010. |
| Re: Calendar changed with daylight savings | Webster | 11/03/12 09:32 | It is a maddeningly inconsistent problem. I have used google calendar for years and never had this problem. My wife also uses google calendar she is not experiencing this problem. From what I can tell her calendar settings are exactly the same as mine. Also, I subscribe to some external calendars (the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins) and they display correctly. |
| Re: Calendar changed with daylight savings | ElyseB | 11/03/12 18:41 | Holy Cow I have the same issue! You would think that since it happened in 2009 and 10 that they would have an automatic fix in place! So, what is the fix besides changing my time zone???? |
| Re: Calendar changed with daylight savings | ElyseB | 11/03/12 18:42 | So really, what is the fix. We have medical appointments that cannot be an hour late! Is there a fix besides changing my time zone??? |
| Re: Calendar changed with daylight savings | MegR | 11/03/12 18:52 | I haven't heard of a fix. I was hoping I'd find one here. It is a major issue that needs to be changed though. |
| Re: Calendar changed with daylight savings | Webster | 13/03/12 05:08 | There have been a number of new threads on this discussion group with other folks having the same or similar problems. Unfortunately there do not seem to be any good fixes. In doing a little more investigation of my calendar I find two places to specify timezones. The first is in calendar general preferences. The second is within each event. I found a variety of timezone settings in my various calendar events. Most had no timezone specified, some had the correct timezone, at least one had a Grand Turks timezone (which makes no sense to me). I ended up manually correcting all my events. If I had hundreds of events I guess I would have done an export of calendar data, made changes in a spreadsheet, imported into a new calendar, and deleted the original calendar. My calendar has been populated through a wide variety of sources and I suspect that adding events and/or synching through different sources/devices/apps has caused inconsistent specification of timezones. For the sake of future archaeologists, I mostly use the website and my android phone to access my google calendar. My phone is an LG Optimus V. The service provider is Virgin Mobile, which leases network service from Sprint. Good luck to all. Please keep us posted if you find a fix or figure out what caused this madness in the first place. |
| Re: Calendar changed with daylight savings | terrylou | 20/03/12 05:44 | Me too. I noticed that appts were off an hour the week prior to DST starting, and figured it woudl self correct. WRONG, Even worse, appts entered after the switch to DST are correct -- but I'm not sure what was entered when. Now I have to research ecach appt tomake sure I have the time correct. Makes it a worthlesss calendar. Guess I'll go back to my old Palm pilot. |
| Re: Calendar changed with daylight savings | Travel Maven | 20/03/12 07:06 | I have the same problem. I enter it on my Google calendar correctly and it stays there correctly. However when it syncs to Outlook, it's an hour earlier.. I'm in Pacific Time zone too. Very frustrating and confusing. All my computer clocks are correct. Any fixes anyone???? |
| Re: Calendar changed with daylight savings | silentstephi | 29/03/12 09:26 | Looks like I've got the same problem. Which is weird because my husband's calendar is fine apparently. We both use Androids, though his is the much nicer one (4" screen, runs Icecream Sandwich) while mine's just an LG that runs FroYo. Hope there's a way to fix this, if I have to manually redo all my calendar dates, I'm going to stop using it. : / |
| Re: Calendar changed with daylight savings | EternalStargazer | 15/04/12 12:15 | There is a quick fix. Go into your tablet/phone's Settings and to Date and Time. Click on Time Zone. There should be a time zone there that says, for example "Eastern Standard Time (GMT-4)". EST is normally -5, but this one includes the +1 for DST. When you select it it will show up in your menu as "Eastern Daylight Time" or something similar. That fixes my Calendar and resyncs it to the right time. |
