|Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 not syncing with google calendar||niklacombe||5/10/10 10:33 AM|
I'm trying to sync my google calendar with my Sony Ericsson Xperia X 10 phone. The google calendar has sent the verification code and all of that is in and approved. The phone lcorrectly ists my google calendar as the one it is using. For some reason though, I can add events to both the phone and the google calendar, yet they do not sync and only show up on the one calendar I have entered the event for. Thus I have to enter it twice, defeating the purpose of syncing. The calendar is an application on this phone which I'm trying to use
Help me please.
I am completely at a loss and frustrated
I'm using Internet Explorer 7 to access google calendar

One trick I've used with Android phones is to flush the calendar off the device and allow a resync. Go to Home -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications, and look for Calendar Storage. (Might have to do Menu -> Filter -> All from this point.) Once you've located that, go in and select Clear Data. This forces a resync from the server and should not harm the data thereon - but export your calendar on yoru computer anyway, just in case; it's just a good idea to have a backup.

I am having the same problem as niklacombe.
Dennis I tried what you wrote and it worked great, do I have to do this everytime that I enter a new item in my google calender?

@HSinha: Frankly, you shouldn't have to, and if you are, something's up - in my experience, it's caused by too much stuff in the calendar, but more specifically in my case, having too many calendars being drawn in. Say, about 20 calendars. Longer term solution is to take only what you need with you in the calendars on the phone, and save the unnecessary stuff for on the computer.

Are you sure that you have "Google Sync" selected as your synchronisation option? I had this same problem until I realised the phone was set to "Sony Ericsson Sync". (It's in Settings -> Data Synchronisation)

The solution to flush the calendar off the device works, but it also destroys all entries that are made on the phone and that have not been synced. What is "too much stuff" and why would it be a problem?
|Re: Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 not syncing with google calendar||Dennis The Tiger||6/6/10 1:00 PM|
"Too much stuff" is hard to answer, Jon, as in my experience it generally depends on the phone's available memory, version of Android, and/or any carrier-based add-ons. A for instance: with the calendars I have (I work about 24 of them, most for segmenting out a convention schedule), I am able to deal with it splendidly on my Nexus One, but I had to routinely flush on my G1 in order to get my calendar working. Kinda helped that I routinely work from the browser. =)
At this point, I have no idea where the exact problem lies beyond theories - case in point is the G1 versus the N1. I don't even have a good way to test this out, frankly, and don't understand enough on Android to give anything more than these off-the-cuff theories.

I can easily sync anything I add to my google calendar on the PC - it goes to my sony xperia mini OK, but I can't get anything I input on my phone to go the other way!! I've tried clearing the calendar info on the phone but this hasn't fixed it. Anyone any ideas? Thanks.

@freestonet: I think that by default, new events created on the phone go to the internal phone calendar. When you create a new event, there is a field where you can choose which calendar the event shall be created, one of them is your Google calendar.
I've not found a way to get the phone to store the new events in the Google calendar by default, so I think you need to do that for each new event.

I only have about 5-6 calendars myself, with not that many events... My Xperia X10 stopped syncing all of a sudden and I tried everything to get my calendar back; I unchecked all the calenders, turned the phone off, turned it back on, deleted them, re-added them, on, off... nothing. I don't know what the issue is? It's not like I had THAT much stuff in there. So, thanks Dennis, for the tip on clearing the data. I was losing my mind =) Hopefully it doesn't happen again... it's been one thing after another with this phone!
And Ennis617 - you have to use the FILTER option. Once you're in your list of applications, click your menu button. The option FILTER should come up, you need to check off ALL, so that you see every application; not just the ones that you've downloaded/are running. My x10 is the same =)

I have tried clearing the Calendar and re-syncing and all I get is holidays and folks birthdays. I have re-installed the Android System twice now. Each time I re-install the Calendar comes out synced, but after that it goes through the motions, but nothing happened. Xperia X10

Thanks to anzpom - worked like a charm. (settings, and sync activation).

I have just started using google Calender and my Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, and still learning/struggling.
I have set google to auto-sync, so that's o.k., but how do I set the frequency of sync (in either direction - from phone to PC or PC to phone) ? I updated a calender a while ago on the phone, with an event, and I had to swich auto-sync on/off to get it to update on google.........is there a setting somewhere frequency of 'pushing' the data between the Google and the app on the phone ?
TIA, as they say :)

I have found that in at least one scenario, the X10 mini calendar app itself is to blame. When I installed the app "business calendar free" on my X10 mini pro, I could see everything and sync flawlessly, while the built-in calendar still showed nothing.
