When I re-installed Chrome I lost the quick calandar link on my task bar and can't get it back. Suggestions? (It's a drag having to open Chrome then the calandar each time.)

This sounds like you either need to re-enable the Chrome extension or re-download from the Chrome Webstore. I've attached the reference for how to manage extensions. If that's not what you're referring to, please let me know!

Katherine, thanks for your response. In part it helped - the Calendar extension had disappeared form my PC. Having re-installed it I still can't get a calendar icon onto my taskbar.
I minor niggle I know, but it used to be there and it frustrates me that I can't find a way of getting it back..

I'm not missing any extensions. I have the Google calendar you indicated, it's just that I can't access it directly from my taskbar as I used to , I have to open Chrome then open calendar. Can't find any way of getting calendat back onto my taskbar.

Did you have Calendar saved as a bookmark? Try "starring" calendar.google.com and then enabling the bookmarks bar by clicking the Chrome menu to the right of the address bar and going to Bookmarks > Show Bookmarks Bar. this will at least put a link at the top of the browser. You can also set the calendar page to open automatically when you open chrome. Click the menu and go to settings and then edit your "On Startup" settings to have it open a specific page- your calendar.
Hope this helps!

So what used to happen previously when you clicked on something in your taskbar - did that not open a browser, or was some other software accessing / displaying your calendar?

I originally had an icon on the task bar for Google calendar. Clicking it opened a dedicated window with my calendar in. It was this way from when I first installed Google calendar several years ago. About a month ago I deleted then re-installed Google Chrome and the task bar icon was no longer there, even though I could get to the calendar by opening Chrome and clicking the bookmarked calendar page.

What operating system are you using? Please let us know - if it's Windows XP or 7, we can hopefully work out how to give you what you're looking for.

it's Windows 7.

Sorry for the delay.
I'm using an XP machine at the moment, but I think it'll be the same on Win7.
Do you already have an icon for Google Chrome in your task bar? If so, you can either use that, or make a copy of it. If you want another icon, please right-click on the existing Chrome icon and select "Create Shortcut". When I did this on my PC, that created a 2nd icon in the task bar, so hopefully it'll do the same on Win7!
Right-click on the icon and choose 'Properties'. The screen which appears will also look different from the following, but I think there'll be a 'Target' box, which currently points to where the Chrome program is stored on your computer.
In my case, that address is "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe". If yours is different, it won't matter!
Click in that box, press the 'End' key on your keyboard to get to the far right, add a space and then paste the following: https://www.google.com/calendar.
The 'Target' box should now say something like "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" https://www.google.com/calendar
Save the changes and click on the icon in your task bar - and let us know if that's what you're expecting!
PS In my case, I just tell my browser to always open 3 tabs when it starts - I have one for Gmail, one for Calendar, and one for G+.

Patrick, I've eventually got result. I can get an icon on my desktop which goes straight to Calendar, but it won't be moved to the task bar. But hey! it works
It was much more fiddly than your suggestions - guess windows 7 isn't the same as XP!!! I couldn't duplicate an icon the way you suggested, but eventually sent a shortcut to my desktop from the file location and modified that as you suggested, changed the shortcut icon and name and voila! a shortcut straight to Calendar.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Sorry the instructions weren't correct for Win7, but I'm glad you've been able get the shortcut working.
