|Ability to change the label (title) of birthday event||Lukáš||2/19/11 4:09 AM|
Im using czech version of "Contacts' birthdays and events" calendar. Its very useful, but all birthday events have too long title like this:
"Narozeniny uživatele John Doe" (it means "Birthday of user John Doe")
This didnt bother me too much in browser version of Google Calendar on PC. But it become bigger problem on Android phone. There is too little space for this long title. In 90% of cases (widgets, agenda, week overview) I see only "Narozeniny uživatele", so I dont know who has birthday unless I display full description of birthday event.
Also, Im little confused what does "Birthday of user" mean. Why are my contacs called users? Users of what? In english version of "Contacts' birthdays and events" calendar, birthday events have title like this "John Doe's birthday", which is more logical and also contact name is displayed first.
So, could you please add the ability to change the label (title) of birthday event - maybe allow user to select which form of event title does he prefer (in calendar settings). Or at least, could you please change the czech translation of birtday events title from "Narozeniny uživatele John Doe" to something like this: "John Doe - Narozeniny".
Thanks in advance..

I've notified our translation team, so hopefully this will get fixed with one of our next releases.

I have the same problem as well - in the Portuguese version.
- in a 1366px-wide laptop screen, the Calendar shows (e.g.) "Aniversário de Mar..." (for anyone called Maria)
- in Android it's quite the same for most apps - none can change or suppress that label
I believe that the cake icon is quite enough on the web-based app,
and on Android no label at all (just the name) wouldn't be as confusing as having a few "Aniversário de..." every day.

btw - If you are uneasy about suppressing the "Aniversário de" string, just "Aniv." would do

I've notified our translation team. Hopefully they react quickly and go through all the languages to fix it for everyone this time.

For Dutch I have the same issue and saw other people asking questions about it too.
Now it is: "Verjaardag van John Doe"
It would be much better if it would be: "John Doe jarig"
An alternative would be: "John Doe's verjaardag" but this is more complex because with a name ending with a "s" not " 's verjaardag" but " ' verjaardag" should be added (eg. Chris' verjaardag).
