|How do I move existing Places to G+ Local from a different gmail?||EJdds||6/26/12 5:09 AM|

Hi Jade, I hope you can help me. I'm a dentist outside of Chicago and confused how to move my Google Places content into Google+ Local. I have two Gmail accounts and unfortunately one (the older of the two) is linked to my Google Places and the other is linked to my G+ account. How can I move the Places info into my Local without data/reviews/influence loss? Thank you for your help. I also messaged you on G+. Thanks!

Eric, I think there may be a little confusion, so let me try to explain.
"I'm a dentist outside of Chicago and confused how to move my Google Places content into Google+ Local."
How can I move the Places info into my Local without data/reviews/influence loss?"
Google already upgraded your Place page to a G+ Local page there is no more you can do right now.
Here is your G+ Local Page with reviews: https://plus.google.com/105668760629821651681/about?gl=us&hl=en
For now separate from your G+ Business page: https://plus.google.com/u/0/112933016151698393983/about
Once Google is ready to do the full upgrade/merge with G+ they will let you know how to proceed. It does not matter if each page is in a different account, there will still be a way to merge. It will just likely take an extra verification step to prove you are the rightful owner of both pages.
Don't worry about the 2 accounts and whatever you do, do not consider trying to move your Place page/Local page to the other account. There is no safe, easy way to transfer your Place page to another account. And if you delete the listing and start a new one in the other account you could possibly lose reviews and ranking.
So just hang tight and wait for Google to complete the transition.

I thought that they said that they would be merging the databases in 1 - 2 weeks. But that's almost 4 weeks ago that they were saying that. Did I get that wrong?
Is there any up to date proposed timescale for the merge? I want to set some things up, but it seems pointless if I have to sign up using a database that is going to merge with another one imminently ... as last time I had to merge 2 Google accounts, it was a nightmare.
Would really appreciate a proposed timescale on this Google!

We're working on ways to accomodate merging these pages for business owners with different combinations of accounts/profiles/email addresses. As Linda said, I'd just sit tight and wait for the best merge/verification process to make its way to you.

I have just over 150 listings on the Google Places dashboard as my company has several locations. I tried adding a couple of photos to every listing through the dashboard a few days ago and they are all still pending. Before the Google+ Local transition, a simple photo upload would be verified in seconds. How long will these listings remain in "pending" status? It's making it difficult for me to update information on the listings when I need to since they are all still "pending". Also, when I view the Google+ Local pages that I manage, it still does not say that they are owner verified. Any idea when that will happen?

I am experiencing the same problem. It's actually been 3 weeks since I uploaded pictures to my Google Places page and still nothing shows. Why is it now taking so long to show all the business info and photos/videos?

@Ali "How long will these listings remain in "pending" status? It's making it difficult for me to update information on the listings when I need to since they are all still "pending". Pending typically means you have violations. If you have lots of listings pending review I suggest starting your own dedicated thread and showing us dashboard screen shots of a couple listings so we can help you figure out why they are pending.
The owner verified status is not going to show up until the final merge/upgrade to G+. No ETA on that yet.
@London Google says images currently can take a month to show up. But I think it's possible that images are just broken and may not work during this transition and not until the update is complete. (Just assumption on my part but think it's likely.)

Still no ETA on this?
Can't you at least give us a clue as to whether the merge is high priority, medium or low priority with Google? Should we expect it to happen within the next month / 2 - 3 months / 4 - 6 months / or even longer?
I seriously believe that people will lose interest and start turning away from Google+ if this isn't sorted soon. Anyone who has experienced the nightmares of trying to merge accounts in the past will give up. After all the hype and a lot of people saying how great the change looked from Google Places to Google+ Local, I believe that you have now lost a massive amount of momentum and support.
Google need to get this sorted and give people like us good information or the whole thing will be a disaster.

I was referring to the ETA for merging the databases so that one login works for G+ and G+Local.

Hi Linda, thanks for your response. I know you managed your clients Google local listing and if your clients were in the same boat as us they would be asking you for answers on this. What do you tell them in this case? Wait... and continue to wait? I'm not sure why it is taking 3 weeks for my images to show. They are not broken and I uploaded them from the Google Places for Business Dashboard. However, as a Google+ user I can go to my Google+ Local page and upload an image and it's there almost immediately. So should I just upload the rest of my images that way? Also all of my categories do not show and it is taking a long time to get some sort of ranking position, even though I did all of the right things and followed the guidelines.
Please help shed some information or advice.
Thanks. Your insight is very much appreciated.

"Still no ETA on this?
I'm under NDA so if I knew could not share. BUT do not know for sure yet, so truly have nothing I can share.
What I always say with ANY software update is, it's just like the ETA on your new house.
There are almost always unforeseen last minute delays and things always take longer than all parties would like them too.
My guess is making everything work got more complicated and will take more time than expected.
BUT I'd rather have them wait get the bugs worked out and THEN launch, then launch something half baked.
I believe some of the current problems were due to a rush to get SOMETHING out the door and it wasn't quite ready for prime time.
I think things are just backed up due to the update or possibly back end changes they are making to prepare for the update.
Re images I think there may be something odd going on. Alluded to it in my blog post today and am doing more research and may blog it tomorrow. Very odd and possibly a solution.
Google never does anything intentionally to make things slower or more frustrating. All their efforts are designed to make things better.
But there are bumps along the way AND the only thing you can do to keep your sanity is to let go and wait.
Being frustrated and anxious will just hurt your health, but it won't make Google work any faster. ;-)
