Hello,

I noticed something I haven't seen before in Local and was wondering if this is a new option for Plus Pages.

In a Google+ Local Page, when editing business details, I noticed the address section is showing "Serving Customer in+city_names". When selecting the address field for editing, the address does appear. Can anyone else confirm seeing this?

Interesting find Eric!  Have not heard anyone else mention this yet.

Me neither!  I was trying to reproduce this but couldn't.  Did you enter in those service areas anywhere?

@Joy - I did not, however, I do not have access to the listing that is claimed in the Places Dashboard so the service areas have been entered there.

Although, if service areas were entered in the Places dashboard, the service areas should still display in the maps info ballon as it does below....shouldn't it?

@Linda, I hate to correct you...but my name is Alex :)

I'm wondering if maybe the edit was recent so it's not displaying yet on the listing.  Is there any way you can ask whoever has it in the Places Dashboard if they made an edit recently and added service locations?  I don't think the service locations show if the address isn't hidden.  So my theory is that they have an address but also added some service areas in the dashboard.

To test it, I just added some service areas to my company's listing.  Nothing yet, but I'm sure this isn't something instant so I can check it in a few days.

Yes, this shows up for service-area businesses even if the address is not hidden.

Keenan, so as far as you can see, these service areas exist nowhere on this listing - https://plus.google.com/113638112068233662912/about?hl=en

Alex SOOOO sorry. I wish everyone used their real names because I can't keep all the user names straight. For whatever I always get you confused with Eric.

"Although, if service areas were entered in the Places dashboard, the service areas should still display in the maps info ballon as it does below....shouldn't it?"

But if atty, there should not be service area set in Places dash right? So assuming not in dash, wonder where Google got it? Maybe scraped from the site or 3rd party directory or feed?

But if it's only in the users edit screen and not showing live then it's of less concern.

With address hidden.... yes.  With address NOT hidden, then no, the list of areas are not shown until you choose the Show Service Area, and then yes, they are listed.

Joy, I dunno.  I just checked our B&M listing and there are no service areas in G+, just the address.

According to the Map listing for the law firm, I would not expect to see a list of services areas either.

For the law firm. I just rechecked the page to see if "serving customers in" was still there...and it is, however, next to address field in the user editing area, there is now a link that says "updated" so I'm assuming the "serving customers in" will be removed shortly.

My assumption is that the service areas were selected in the Places Dashboard but that account is no longer accessible by me.

Thanks for all the help everyone

We can confirm that some users using the Google+ page interface to manage social local Google+ pages may be seeing information about service areas. This is the result of a technical issue and does not affect the way the listing appears live on Google Maps. Thanks for reporting!
