Google Plus page Listed twice in Google Searches Donlon Nashfio 12/18/12 8:09 AM
This is a strange one. The Google Plus Page is being Listed twice in Google searches where it is featured. I have uploaded a screenshot because it is hard to explain.

Is it something I have done or can rectify myself or is it a bug?

thanks in advance

p.s. i have other weird issues which I will report separately after being told not to merge issues

Interesting... looking into it. Thanks for reporting.

Jade this has been coming up a lot at my forum too and I've been investigating so had not reported yet. I've seen it on a TON of listings so it's not just a bug with the user above.

Here's what I suspect is happening. And this only happens with MERGED pages (G+ Business verified pages)

One link goes to the posts page and one goes to the about page which is where the reviews live. So with listings that DO have reviews it would not look like a double redundant link. One link would go to  G+ Local (the posts) the other would 'display' # of reviews and link to the about page.

In his example above no one has a merged listing they just have G+ Local listings, therefore only have a single link. Either to the # of reviews IF they have any or to the page if they don't. But if you find someone merged WITH reviews it would look fine. It's just merged with 0 reviews that looks redundant and odd.

BUT when you think about it 2 links is better than 1. AND one link also saying G+ is MUCH BETTER than if it said ZERO reviews.

EXAMPLE: I believe the middle one below is how it's designed to look AND how the user above would look if he had reviews.

It can't be for merged pages only.  My listing also does this and I have never merged anything.  Below is a screen shot of my listing.  This only started about a week ago and the write a review link was added today as well.  Ugh... This is all getting so terribly confusing.

"It can't be for merged pages only.  My listing also does this and I have never merged anything."

Lee I'm not sure how it happened but that IS a merged page. Definitely!
Here it is, merged and verified: https://plus.google.com/103022040988071745059/about?gl=us&hl=en
And you have no reviews, so it IS the exact same situation I mentioned above I believe.

You never created a Google+ Business page and verified it? (Not a Google Place page or Google+ Local but a G+ Business page?)

I've never heard of listing merging or verifying itself. Could someone else at your office have done it?

FYI service area businesses with address hidden were not supposed to merge. Google just released info today saying if you merged with hidden address you need to delete your Google+ Business page.

Here's the info Google just posted that explains: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!category-topic/business/MI5yJcP1pJ8

Users who have posted reviews recently, since May?, which do not show for the client have the review in their posts but not in the Local - Your Places - # Reviews.

I have managed to post a review to all the first 14 ( I have noticed ) posts with URLs here:
And edit them.

So there may have been a bug in the past.
Some engineer could be using the Posts list AS WELL as the # Reviews list to populate reviews at search time as a work around, but not dealt with duplicates.

Look at that, seems I did verify the page.  I guess I thought I only created a local page and not a business page.

The issue with merging a business page if I have a hidden address.  I only hid the address yesterday.  Oh me, dear google, why are you doing this to me...
