Are you an introvert or extrovert? aka alex 3/18/12 11:51 AM
I am a introvert in real life and a little bit extroverted online. I find online i am not as shy and it is because of being able to communicate with writing instead of speaking. I don't do it much anymore but I used to delete a lot of my stuff. Sometimes I still feel that way but still it is better being online since I can control what I do and in real life I can not.

Like irl i have to be around people, for one example in school and have no choice in the decision. The only thing is I withdraw socially by not talking or participating. I do try to force myself but then I get to upset.

I'm an introvert.

It helps being able to choose what to say online, and to check it before pressing the submit button, I do understand that, Alex. I'm glad you don't feel the need to do it so often and hope that means it is showing that your confidence is growing. Maybe if it grows online then it will start making you more confident irl too.

As for me, I am more confident or extroverted with people I don't expect to see again. I can talk to strangers, say people at the bus stop, more easily than some people I know. It's also easier in a crowd for me - the opposite to you, Alex - as I know if I run out of things to say or am unsure of the right thing then someone else will probably say it instead. Don't worry I don't talk to strangers out of the blue, there would be a reason for it, say to ask if the bus had already gone and then a conversation might start up naturally, I, hopefully, don't bore them to death as that woman who insists on talking to you, lol.

Holy crap this is complicated to use. WTF.

Anyway, I'm introverted. I don't like talking to people face to face. It freaks me out. I like to read. There's this one guy in my math class who talks all the time and it's annoying and I want to yell at him I'M TRYING TO READ GO AWAY. But I'm too nice to do that. :|

**EXTROVERT**
I am that person you want to say shut up to Amp lol ! Its called verbal dihorea! I cant help myself I will talk to anyone face to face, on here is where I am weary of people because I cant see any of you, you have a picture of a pretty student looking girl Amp, but you might just be a beer guzzeling obese couch potato who needs a bath :) I do hope not though, but you see what I mean I can speak my mind to anyone in the real world, but on here I am unsure of myself and Blonde!

I don't know. Kinda in between. I am mostly really really shy but I do like going to parties and doing random exciting things like extreme sports.
Re: Are you an introvert or extrovert? bagleworm 3/19/12 2:12 PM
I'm a textbook introvert. :)

I want to want to do stuff like house parties, bars, concerts and stuff... but whenever I force myself to go - even when it's with a close group of friends - I just don't enjoy myself... it's far too overwhelming. If there's ever people I don't know too well, I sort of slink to the back of the group and just listen... I find I get lost in conversations with more than a couple other people, so I just stay quiet. :)
Re: Are you an introvert or extrovert? Jne4str 3/19/12 3:56 PM
Introvert. I'm usually pretty quiet and keep to myself in public and in large groups. I'm getting better about that though. I have moments when I feel more talkative than others. Online however, I'm quite chatty and will go on and on sometimes without realizing it.

I'm an extroverted introvert. By nature I'm an introvert who has learned to be extroverted when need be.

Depends on my mood.  I'm naturally both.

Sometimes I really enjoy being the life of the party.  Other times, I just want to be left alone.
Re: Are you an introvert or extrovert? heyitsflower 3/21/12 4:20 AM
Clearly it has been a while since I've been in TCS... wow the hoops you have to jump through on here!

I am an introverted extrovert. I am naturally friendly, but I always feel like I get on people's nerves, so I just stay quiet. I have actually developed HORRIBLE social anxiety, and if I'm not with one of my close friends or family members when I go out, I pretty much keep to myself.

Re: Are you an introvert or extrovert? JAW01 7/1/12 1:23 PM
I by nature am an introvert 100%. I do enjoy talking to people if they strike up the conversation, but by the end of the day I feel mentally exhausted and to be totally honest somewhat less educated after talking to some of the people that I associate with. I really enjoy reading books and listening to music simultaneously. I find that I get relaxed much easier. Like you though aka alex online I feel as if I can express myself without being judged by others. I have never had much of a self esteem issue but I do tend to get nervous if I have to speak to a crowd of people that I don't know as if they are all judging me, and what I'm saying makes no sense at all except to me. Online however if I see a topic that strikes my interest I have no problem typing away rambling about nothing as I am doing now. It is interesting how I don't care what others think about me online but I do in real life.

I am definitely an introvert working on becoming an extrovert.

Alcohol gave me the boost and now that I've quit, redbull is definitely giving me a boost.
Re: Are you an introvert or extrovert? Bobalovaa 8/5/12 12:47 PM
Hmmm I would say a combination of both...if that is even possible. I guess it depends on the situation in my case
Re: Are you an introvert or extrovert? jbirdy 8/5/12 6:33 PM
I wonder if it possible to be both? If so that would be me.
Re: Are you an introvert or extrovert? b.oliver 8/8/12 7:16 PM
I believe I am an introvert, loving books, writing and science, being kind of nerdy and all. But being an introvert is just a single shade of my personality. There are many shades. It doesn't mean that all introverts are shy and socially awkward. Some introverts find time to socialize and enjoy being in such social situations, and that's another part of their personality. Some introverts are quiet and hide their feelings, some are quiet and emotional, and some are tough. I took this personality test, and I believe it's pretty accurate. You might want to try it out: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp

Also, based on that test I'm an INTP and that makes sense.

Also, my blog is at http://overville.blogspot.com if you want to check it out. I'm trying to reconnect to the blogosphere; it's been a long time since I really became active online, and lately I've been feeling rather lonesome. Ha.

Cheers. =]

I love people. I love the human mind and exploring what other people's minds have to offer me. However, as much as I love having many friends and lots of people to hang out with constantly, I mostly enjoy hanging out with people in groups of 3-5 or less. I am not a huge group person- but still consider myself an extrovert.

Anyone else like this?

Re: Are you an introvert or extrovert? redmicasupra 10/15/12 9:13 PM
I took that personality test and got ISTJ, with introverted being the strongest out of the four.  Not that I didn't already know that.  I'm pretty outgoing and hilarious with the right person or people, but most of them just annoy me so I try to avoid them.
Re: Are you an introvert or extrovert? Bobalovaa 10/30/12 1:27 AM
A bit of both, I think....
Apparently the personality test informed me I was an ENFJ.

The Eysenck personality inventory tells me I'm introverted, but I actually think that it's a bit of both :)
Re: Are you an introvert or extrovert? I_am_also_AMP 11/9/12 9:48 PM
I'm the same way. Online is easier to talk. Out in public I barely make a peep. I like online more because then I can think about and edit what I say so it comes out correctly.
