Using Google Apps Transporter to migrate users from one GBES server to another GBES server mr.ipa 3/21/12 2:55 PM
There doesn't seem to be much information on how to use the Enterprise Transporter tool effectively between Google Apps Connector BES servers.  I am curious to hear what steps have worked best as the tool seems to be deemed unreliable in the GBES environment?

I will have to move 40 users from my GBES pilot server (BESx 5.0.2 with local configuration database) to a new server BESx 5.0.3 servers pointing to a remote SQL database.  Since they are on seperate databases, it seems the Best Practices for moving end users do not apply for my environment as I cannot move the user between servers using the BAS console.

I have been unsuccessful migrating using the transporter tool when using the Source server - fortunately the preview's were indicating error's.

Recently though, I was successful using the following steps:
  1. Use transporter on Destination Server
  2. Turn off Controller on Destination Server
  3. Preview was successful
  4. Run
  5. During run - Created pending file on Source for user account (i.e. GMS-BlackBerr...@company.com.pst.pending)
  6. Copied both files (.pst & db) from Source and placed in Destination server (all file folder structures are same)
  7. Start Controller on Destination Server
  8. Deleted Pending file on Source Server

Due to technical limitation, The Transporter Tool is not supported with Google Apps Connector. Sorry for that.
