Cannot Turn off automatic renewal of domain name pocketfives 12/18/10 6:22 PM
Domain Name: wakewe.com  & anawanna.com (Having issue with both domain names)
Edition: Standard
Affected Username/s: (The administrator)
Issue Description: I cannot turn off automatic renewal of my domain name.
Steps to Reproduce (if applicable):

The check box 'Automatically renew my domain registration every year' in the Domain Names section of the Control Panel will not stay unchecked.  The check mark is there when I go to that section of the control panel.  I click to remove it.  When I click 'Save Changes', the check mark comes back.  I logged off and on.  Tried from multiple computers and latest versions of chrome, IE and firefox.

From my quick searches, this seems to be an issue that is affecting others though I'm not sure if all domains.

I'm having the same problem with trying to cancel the hire of domain name "ulverstonartists.com".
When I follow your instructions to Uncheck the box next to Automatically renew my domain registration every year, I find that unchecked box does not stay unchecked when I Save Changes.
Your advice would be appreciated.

sarahpalinisaretard.com

Turn it off. I don't want to renew the domain and it's totally creepy that this is an issue that's not being fixed.

Andrew,

I am having the same problem for livinglife365.com - I received an email this morning advising me of an automatic renewal tomorrow (to be billed Feb 5th) - I no longer want the account but the check mark refuses to disappear after unchecking the box and clicking on save changes.

Thanks, Mark
Re: Cannot Turn off automatic renewal of domain name fix_it_please 2/7/11 6:27 PM
Andrew

I have 26/27 sites and I want privacy when getting this taken care of, instead of listing all here.

Will this get fixed for the rest of the world? You can now Google "  Cannot Turn off automatic renewal of domain name " and see how many people can't turn this off and, as a result are being charged for another year. I have 27 sites I want turned off so I deleted my credit card info so Google would'nt take $270 from me.

Can I email you the list.
?

Thanks

I'd like the automatic renewal to be cancelled, please.
Re: Cannot Turn off automatic renewal of domain name yukob 2/13/11 8:13 AM
I did not realized there were issue with the feature until I was charged for renewal. I unchecked the option before...but the system tried to charged the fee this morning. When I logged in to my accout, I saw the check on renewal option. I tried to take it off again but it did not work. My domain is mix-worlds.com.
I do not want to renew this domain. Please help!

Re: Cannot Turn off automatic renewal of domain name BlackCow 2/25/11 4:19 PM
I am having this issue with homebrewtechnology.org

I don't like the idea of anything being automatically charged before the expiration date and I wish to handle payment on my own terms.
Even though you alerted the technical staff this problem still remains and it needs to be taken care of faster.

I have this exact same problem. I do not want to renew "invitedly.com". Jesus google - take the interns off of this project and fix it.
Re: Cannot Turn off automatic renewal of domain name tommysings 3/26/11 3:14 PM
I have the same exact problem for clichechrist.com.  I uncheck the box to stop my automatic renewal, I save, and it comes up checked again.  Really Google is it that hard to fix this problem for all accounts.  I want to delete this google apps account and can't find a way to do so.  You have the worst customer service.
Re: Cannot Turn off automatic renewal of domain name jordanbuckley 3/30/11 1:09 PM
Andrew, thanks for working on this.

I'm having the same issue. My domain jbuckley.org is up for automatic renewal in a week and I DO NOT want to renew it. But un-checking the auto-renew option and hitting 'save changes' has no effect; the page refreshes with the option still checked.

I've removed all my credit cards from my Google Checkout account and will never again purchase a domain through Google. When you're taking my money, you need to have customer support.
Re: Cannot Turn off automatic renewal of domain name kcriqui 4/14/11 3:21 PM

Re: Cannot Turn off automatic renewal of domain name Beatlefreak 4/29/11 1:37 PM
I am having the same problem! On two accounts. I removed the checking accounts associated over a month ago and deleted one in an attempt to stop this payment...but I get an email today saying you'll take the money AGAIN.  I have another checking account for my Google app phone and 1 domain I am keeping ONLY.  I already "unchecked" these other two a month ago, now they are "rechecked." When I go to the sites (today) and "uncheck" and save, it stays "checked." Is this legal? Why don't you have a phone number for customer service when money is involved and banks and auto withdrawels?

These are no longer valid and I do not wish to pay for them and can not "uncheck them" even though I did it a month ago:

everythinggroovyretro.com
theshopfreak.com

Do not take money out of the account I have set up for my Google App's Phone and my 1 good domain, I NEVER authorized these other two domains this year, 2011, I deleted the blogs even. Also, I have one domain that Is active and DO not touch that one. That is www.kakiadesigns.com AND **THIS IS A VALID DOMAIN** and I plan to keep it. Sheesh! This is so scary.
Re: Cannot Turn off automatic renewal of domain name Beatlefreak 4/29/11 7:32 PM
I have one **other** domain besides the ones listed and the one I want to keep, that I turned "off to renew" a month ago, and just now, after I posted this, another email came to renew this. This one I thought was taken care of! But it is my name and do not want to post it here. I guess the only thing we can do is notify our banks.

Hey Everyone,

First of all, I'm really sorry for the inconvenience this appears to be causing all of you!  And I would like to highly encourage anyone who has any issues with their renewal settings to file a support ticket directly with the Google Apps team (even regular Google Apps subscriptions can get support for account access issues and anything billing related).

And one of my team members will gladly follow up with you to get everything resolved :-)

As per the root cause of this issue, in most instances it is likely the case that your domain has already entered the auto-renewal sequence and can't be turned off.  If you do not want the auto-renewal option, please make sure to uncheck this box well before your renewal time (or preferably as soon as you have purchased/renewed the domain) - as this will eliminate the renewal order starting when it isn't wanted.

If anyone thinks this isn't what happened with their account, please contact us (at the above link) so that we can help investigate your issue directly with you over email.

We are here to help - and if you have billing issues, they should be addressed immediately so you are no longer frustrated or concerned (I would want the same with any purchases I make!).

Cheers,
-Marc
