I have a normal Google Apps account with 8 users. A couple of days ago, mails started bouncing and as I log in to the admin panel, it tells me that I need to pay to reactivate. However, there is no payment page for me to access under domain administration as the support page tells me to. I am well under quota. My ability to email has effectively been disabled and I haven't even been notified (yes, I searched my spam folder too)

Have you been using the Google apps Paid Business edition free 30 days trial ?
try this url http://www.google.com/a/legogris.se/SuspendedDomain see if it resolve your issue. that will allow you downgrade to free edition.

No, I have not - I haven't even been logged in to the control/admin panel for my Google Apps Domain , or received any communications at all from Google regarding it for months prior to this suddenly happening. The most recent e-mail I got regarding Google Apps was in January informing me on the coming policy changes in March.

You Might want to make some changes to your Domain dns MX
so they can look like these on this page

I changed my MX records to my own temporary server yesterday after posting here so I can at least get my mail while this issue is being resolved.
Will it work if I change it back now?

I've got the same problem! I've changed my MX-posts, but it says that "inactive, awaiting payment" right under E-mail on my control panel!
How do we solve that?

The Advisor checked your account and they didn't see anything wrong with your account except for your mx records and if you using Google Apps free edition there is no cost.

This is my control panel. The text by the Gmail-icon trabslates to "Not active, awaiting payment".
In the top right corner you can see that there's also no way for me to reach my settings (I've changed language to "English" in all other places but it keeps showing in Swedish for some reason).
I am and have always been on the free edition and there is no link for payment under domain settings.

I've done it in the past. I just successfully re-verified but the e-mail situation is exactly the same, no change there. And regarding the MX records, I changed them a couple of days AFTER this issue appeared to not lose any more important e-mails.
While I do appreciate your help and time, Lanny, I must say I find it remarkable that my the e-mail service for my entire domain suddenly gets shut down without notice and that Google won't even bother to look into it seriously enough to realize that something's wrong for days and that I can't get to talk directly to someone at Google. I've been very happy with all my interactions with Google but something like this kind of hurts their relationship with me. I'm not paying for full support for this particular service, but still...

If you can post a few screenshots or use www.screenr.com to take us through the english control panel, we can try and escalate.
PS. Either have Google MX's setup exclusively, or remove them altogether. As it is now, mail delivery destination will not be predictable.

I do not seem to be able to change the control panel to English, but I guess that is beside the point. I have changed my MX records (Google records removed altogether for now).
Here is my screenr recording showing both the language issue and the control panel views that I thought might be relevant to this. Still tells me it's inactive because it's awaiting payment.

Which version of the control panel are you using. Try changing to the next gen version which is in english only.

Somehow, this actually fixed my initial problem as well... Really weird, but changing the control panel was all that was needed to return my e-mail service to normal.
