|Google Play Music: Music Won't Upload||SDuerr||3/12/12 7:51 AM|
I have been using Google Music since the Beta. I just tried adding a couple songs to my library today and they will not upload. They say they are, but in the Music Manager, the song names don't show nor do the percentages, it just sits there and does nothing. Is there some reason this is happening?

I am having the same issue, is there a solution yet?

Same here, I've been a GM user since beta, and ever since Google Play was introduced I have been expiriencing problems with uploading songs. Yesterday, my Music Manager said "uploading temporariliy paused" ot something like that - today, it just stands still, nothing is happening.
Seriously, with the Blogger "labbels bug" and now this, it looks like Google online services are being run by semi-inteligent rodents.

So it started after the update to Play, I was wondering about that... Didn't know about any bugs with Blogger Labels though...

Ok , this is super weird: my Music Manager starter uploading music literally a few minutes ago. I guess it was Google's fault after all.

I'm still having issues with the Music Manager. I've never experienced problems with it before - it just shows that it's uploading but it sits idle and has been like this all morning.

Me as well.

Based on my case, I think you just have to wait for a couple og hours/days, it'll probably fix itself.

I let mine go for a week (went on vacation and just left the upload running) and it didn't fix itself or continue. It just hangs. I then uninstalled/reinstalled music manager and I am getting the same issue again. Hangs at 5528 of 6909 songs. It appears to continue to upload songs but I think it basically just keeps starting over. Very frustrating.

I'm having the same problem. The weird thing is that it has songs it wont upload, but also songs that it just can't seem to see. They're normal MP3s, in iTunes etc, but they don't work. Weird.

Me too. Seems like it started when my play app updated on my phone.

SOLVED: Looks like a bug. This happened to me when I tried adding individual folders (albums) to upload. If I have a single folder then Music Manager uploads everything fine.
The way I got around it...
Here is how I created links mentioned in 2b. Start by opening a command prompt with administrator privileges. (you can google it)
In the command prompt, I executed these commands:
That creates a link called "The Prodigy" to the directory "c:\Shared Music\The Prodigy". Google Music Manager will then see "The Prodigy" as a directory and proceed to upload all the music in it.
If this fixes it for you then please "up arrow" the post so others see it first.

I've discovered that the Music Manager (at least, the version which runs on linux) may not be able to handle some kinds of file names. If I try to upload a particular folder whose name has an apostrophe ' character, or which contains files whose name contains an apostrophe, the music manager behaves as you've described: when I try to upload, the Music Manager just sits there and does nothing, and the files don't upload.
Changing the file names to remove the offending apostrophes fixes the problem.
I'm using the linux version, and this particular issue may just be special to linux (or even to my particular installation of linux). But you might want to check and see if there is anything distinctive about the filenames which are not uploading.
