"User is already added to account" -- not true

I tried to add a user to an account (I have successfully done this with 7 other users). When I do, I receive the message "User is already added to the account" which is not true. I can see the user list on the screen (there are only 7) and this email address is not in the list.

How do I fix or get around this?

Hi,

This is the scenario where you are are trying to add user to a particular profile, but not to the account.

Looks the user is already added to the account and choose the radio button 'Select existing account users to grant access' instead of new user while creating a new user and then select the eamil ID and click on Add to grant access to the profile.

Same problem here. Where can I choose "select existing account users to grant access"? The only option I see is to add a new user. Differences between the old and new Google Analytics design? The new design doesn't provide this option, the old one did!

Hi WaarWaarachtig,

Just click on the Admin link at the top right and then go to Profile -> Users and then click on +New User button at the top left in the table then choose 
second option under User selection method instead of first one which is Select existing account users to grant access.

Unfortunately can't see the option you're mentioning. This is what I get:

Add User To Profile
Enter User Information
Email Address
User email that is registered in Google accounts
Role
UserAdministratorAdministrators have full access to all account profiles.

Hi,

That means there were no users under this account apart from you. Please check adding new user now and provide the screenshot of the error message.

The email adress I'm trying to add doesn't show under the users tab before adding a new user. Please find the error message in the attachment.

I have the same problem that it said, user is already added (not true). After several attempts I was able to add the user from existed list and not using new user option.  
Trust me, I couldn't find the person anywhere before...tricky GA

I have the same issue, but I can never find the user in the "Available Users" box. I refresh and try other browsers and still nothing. Any ideas?

Same issue here. I cannot find the user in any way, but keep getting told that she is already added. Not in existing user lists, not in the global users list ... nowhere...

Oh, now I see what's up. My user has account-linked email addresses, somehow. When I deleted her gmail-address-based account, I could add her work email address as a user, but it again showed up as her gmail address.
