A question about a particular traffic source. Covenant Doors 5/18/12 4:44 PM
When I go to my traffic source section to see the medium and source of customers to my site, I keep seeing one that says: clicks.thespecialsearch.com / referral.
From what I am able to see it is a virus. But, I cannot determine where this virus (if it is one) is and how to get rid of it. I have a very good virus software and it has not detected anything on my computer.
Does anyone know what exactly what this is and should I be concerned and what can I do to get rid of it?

Hi,

This will be a referral to the site, or tracking code that has been appended by thespecialsearch.com.

Does the data interact with the site or is all results such as bounce rate 100% or pages per visit 0?

If stats look okay it would suggest this source is a genuine referral.

Hope this helps

It always shows a 100% bounce rate with 0 page visits.

Hi,

This sounds like malware or spyware that has managed to embed code into your site.

I quickly searched google for thespecialsearch.com and it returned a number of results that may confirm this.

I would send all this info to your web developers to sort but if running the site yourself then the below link has a number of solutions suggested, I can't tell which one will work unfortunately.

Apologys if the below link doesn't work as I am on the iPad.

Please let me know if this helps.
