How do I track subdomains seperately within one Google Analytics account? RCM90 7/24/09 12:26 PM
I have just setup a Google Analytics for my website and it is working perfectly. I now want to know how to create different filters and profiles for several different subdomains which I want to track seperately within the main profile. Do I need to add another piece of code to the website or can I do it with the include/exclude options within the filter section? If I can add a filter how do I do it because there doesn't seem to be an option to include/exclude traffic fom a particular subdomain.

You need to rewrite the request URI so that it also includes the hostname, i.e. it includes www.domain.com and store.domain.com . Then you can create a profile with a filter that only includes one subdomain and another with a filter that only includes the other.

To do the first part:

Filter Type: Custom filer -> Advanced
Field A -> Extract A: Hostname -> (.*)
Field B -> Extract B: Request URI -> (.*)
Output To -> Constructor: Request URI -> $A1$B1
Field A Required: Yes
Field B Required: No
Override Output Field: Yes
Case Sensitive: No

This looks very a similar answer as was provided in:

http://google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?answer=55524

This refers to which version of tracking code you have installed and gives an answer for the latest version in the thread and a link to what you need to do in the older version.

Problem is: We have the older version but the link in the answer thread is broken.......

Does anyone have a link or reference to how to setup to aggregate information from domains and subdomians into one account in the older tracking code version

Thanks in advance,

Roy

This has instructions for both the new asynchronous and the old tracking code.

Is that what you were after?
