Incorrect currenct converstion rate. defyboy 6/27/12 12:33 PM
For some reason the conversion rate is backwards and I have been paid $138 less than I should have.

XE.com suggests:
298.00 USD        =        376.096 NZD
US Dollar        ↔        New Zealand Dollar
1 USD = 1.26207 NZD        1 NZD = 0.792351 USD
Mid-market rates: 2012-06-27 22:26 UTC

Yet google says:
Payment Type        EFT
Account Nickname        troy.gerrie
Account Number        *******000
Payment Date        Jun 26, 2012
Payment Number        2906652071
Amount in Reporting Currency        USD $298.14
Exchange Rate        1 : 0.798
Amount in Payment Currency         NZD NZ$238.00
Payments are converted to local currency at the prevailing rate at time of payment processing.
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. Geoff Bryant 6/27/12 1:09 PM
Yes, I've got the same problem. They seem to have reversed the exchange rate for the US dollar. Instead of it being 1:0.798 they've used 0.798:1. I hope they can get this sorted out failrly quickly. Still, as we know, Google rules the world. If they say that's the exchange rate, that's what it is. In which case I'm expecting to see a massive drop in the price of petrol.
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. PeggyK 6/27/12 1:26 PM
AdSense does not use the exchange rate on the day the payment was issued.

For each month in which an AdSense payment is issued, we use the Bloomberg exchange rate from the month before. The Bloomberg rate is a standard industry-recognized rate that is set *two days before the last business day of the month* at 4pm London time. So, for your payment in August, we used the Bloomberg rate from 4pm London time on July 27. In a case where you generated earnings over several months and then exceeded the $100 payment threshold in August, your September payment used the Bloomberg rate from 4pm London time on August 29.

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. PeggyK 6/27/12 1:34 PM
And here is the help article that says the same thing:

So you need to look at the exchange rate for  May 29.
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. deeps2012 6/27/12 1:46 PM
Hi had the same problem not really sure if we ever had a situation where the NZD was higher than the USD ..
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. PeggyK 6/27/12 1:46 PM
And I see that even with that information the exchange rate looks wrong. I've escalated to the AdSense Pros.
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. JBNZ 6/27/12 2:10 PM
Same for me. May payment used 1 : 1.306 and this month 1 : 0.798 - quite obviously incorrect.

Even Google search states the rate is 1 : 1.2650

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. Dazza732 6/27/12 3:06 PM
I am the same mine is over $100 nzd out

296.37 USD        =        374.174 NZD
US Dollar        ↔        New Zealand Dollar
1 USD = 1.26252 NZD        1 NZD = 0.792065 USD

not $236 nzd
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. joshendy 6/27/12 3:10 PM
I'm also in New Zealand and have just woken up to see this problem as well.

Payment in Payment Currency NZD NZ$84.60
Exchange Rate 0.798 : 1
Payment in Reporting Currency USD $105.98

Its the wrong way around, that conversion is from NZD to USD. It should be USD to NZD.

I hope Google can get this fixed.

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. defyboy 6/27/12 3:32 PM
I really hope this gets escalated and resolved quickly.

I am a bit peeved to find that I have no direct access to any sort of google support, I really needed to be paid all of this to pay my service provider.

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. defyboy 6/27/12 3:34 PM
I buggered that up a bit. The original amount was $298usd

298.00 USD        =        376.096 NZD
US Dollar        ↔        New Zealand Dollar
1 USD = 1.26207 NZD        1 NZD = 0.792351 USD
Mid-market rates: 2012-06-27 22:26 UTC

I got paid $238nzd so I am out by almost almost a third of my payment at $140nzd!
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. Brandon Ruscoe 6/27/12 3:52 PM
Oh, so it's not just me in NZ with the issue, I should have gotten around 200$NZD but got 128NZD instead GRRR!

From what I've read it seems to be a regular occurrence.

Amount in Reporting CurrencyUSD $161.83
Exchange Rate1 : 0.798 'Should be around 1.1-1.2 not .79
Amount in Payment CurrencyNZD NZ$129.18 'This should really be around $200

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. kiwi_nz121 6/27/12 4:02 PM
That's an error in currency exchange rate and algorithm.

The currency rate on 29th of May was USD/NZD 1:1.317 and also Google did vice versa exchange instead of USD to NZD, they changed NZD to USD.

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. kaitouconan 6/27/12 4:45 PM
same problem here!
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. defyboy 6/27/12 4:54 PM
Unfortunately Google did not get this resolved before the EFT. I have now received my payment for the incorrect amount of $238nzd
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. zBoost 6/27/12 5:01 PM
Joining the SHORTPAID CLUB as well!

Payment Type        EFT
Account Nickname 007

Account Number        *******000
Payment Date        Jun 26, 2012
Payment Number        2908926871
Amount in Reporting Currency        USD $245.13
Exchange Rate        1 : 0.798
Amount in Payment Currency        NZD NZ$195.68

Payments are converted to local currency at the prevailing rate at time of payment processing.

USD$245 should equal: NZD$309

I'm sure we all need the difference more tha Google does, and hopefully this will be resolved shortly.

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. S-N 6/27/12 6:45 PM
Wow, I don't know how I missed this topic but I was searching for a few hours and resorted to producing a topic. In a way, I'm a bit relieved knowing that I wasn't the only one who got the wrong payment, but it is a bit unfortunate.

I just posted a topic without realising it was already addressed. In any case, I just wanted to say that I've suffered the same thing. I earned US$331.03 (which equates to around NZ$416.70), but instead received around NZ$264 which is blatantly incorrect.

It does seem like they've reversed the exchange rate.

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. LennonNZ 6/28/12 12:48 AM
Yes I have the same problem. Looks like they multiplied by 0.798 instead of divide by 0.798
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. ralphioooo 6/28/12 1:13 AM
I'm having the same issue... how do we contact support to resolve it? Can't find a contact address anywhere :(

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. Corgie23 6/28/12 1:46 AM
Happened to me to, seems all of New Zealand’s developers have been short changed. Checked a whole year, NZD has not been stronger.
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. sasbuilder 6/28/12 1:49 AM
Same issue. Hopefully we get a word from Google on this.
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. ChrisHope 6/28/12 3:20 AM
Another one here. This has happened once in the past, although it was a few years ago (Jan 08). We got a second payment to make the shortfall the next day, so I imagine it should come through again pretty quickly.

I have just checked my bank account and have the same problem. Sent an email to my account manager...
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. mastercalix 6/28/12 2:34 PM
Yup! Same issue here. I've never seen NZD win over USD - It's weird mate!

Exchange Rate        1 : 0.798

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. gangan2011 6/28/12 2:46 PM
Have same problem with my account too. Never have I seen NZD stronger than USD. With so many others experiencing the same problem, I am not bothering to email Google Support or contact my bank. I am sure Google will sort it out.
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. nirok65 6/28/12 3:27 PM
I also have the same issue with this months payment
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. nirok65 6/28/12 3:29 PM
But looks like they are resolving this :)
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. defyboy 6/28/12 5:27 PM
Looks like they are resolving this issue, Thanks Google.

Hi Troy,

Thanks for contacting AdSense support.  We are aware of this issue.  An
incorrect exchange rate was applied for your most recent AdSense payment.
As a result, the amount you received was only a portion of the earnings
owed. We have already issued a credit to your account, and the remaining
amount will be sent in a separate transaction in a few days.

We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Have a good day,

Jacky

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. Brandon Ruscoe 6/29/12 7:27 AM
Just got this email from Google.
They have acknowledged the problem and are crediting us what is owed :)

Dear publisher,

We're writing to let you know about an issue with your June 2012 payment from AdSense. As you may have realized, an incorrect exchange rate was applied for this payment. As a result, the amount you received was only a portion of the earnings owed. We have already issued a credit to your account, and the remaining amount will be sent in a separate transaction in a few days.

We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

The Google AdSense Team

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. JBNZ 7/1/12 11:58 AM
Well, it's been four days since the error now, two days since they sent out the automated message and still no further update.

No change in the Payment details on adsense, no indication of a future payment, no email indicating a date when we can be expected to be paid by.

I realise it has been a weekend, but this is OUR money.

Come on Google, please be a little more proactive on this.

JB

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. defyboy 7/3/12 4:21 PM
They just added this to the earnings for this month:

Adjustment - Other        $108.15

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. Brandon Ruscoe 7/3/12 4:25 PM
Same here, although mine says 368, which is alot!  Considering what I make each month.

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. JBNZ 7/3/12 10:26 PM
This just gets crazier by the day. In the email I received a while back it stated

We have already issued a credit to your account, and the remaining amount will be sent in a separate transaction in a few days.

Well I'm not sure what account they meant, but now, as others have stated, I'm seeing an adjustment in my earnings for June roughly equal to the amount not paid.

So does this mean we have to wait a month for OUR money to be paid?

And again a lack of communication from Google is frustrating to say the least.

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. newzealand_payment 7/3/12 11:22 PM
The exchange rate for USD/NZD on 29th of May in Bloomberg was around 1.31, the quesion is why Google paymanet system used 1.25 for payments and adjustments?

The difference is around %5 for every publisher.

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. Budz 7/3/12 11:27 PM
Interesting. I also received an email saying they made an error in conversion & I would be paid the correct amount in the next few days.. that was 4 days ago. Still waiting..?

The payment rate is the rate at the time of the payment. Which in this case was on the 26th of June not the 29th of May. The bloomberg site is currently down but when I checked previously it was 1.25.

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. newzealand_payment 7/4/12 3:25 PM
Please read following:

https://support.google.com/adsense/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=15925

For example, in a case where you generated earnings over several months and then exceeded the payment threshold in August 2011, your September payment would use the rate as quoted on Bloomberg at 16:00 London time on August 29, 2011.

So, June 2012 payments would use the rate on Bloomberg at 16:00 London time on May 29th, 2012. Isn't it?

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. Brandon Ruscoe 7/5/12 3:29 AM
I got quite a credit on my account, but regardless they still owe us the rest of our earning for last month, interesting how google's gone very quiet about it.
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. Brandon Ruscoe 7/5/12 6:04 AM
Hello,

We recently contacted you to inform you of an incorrect exchange rate used when calculating your June 2012 AdSense payment.

As we work to fix this problem we issued a credit for the portion of earnings owed to you along with displaying your June AdSense earnings. You may have noticed that the adjustment credit amount issued to your account is incorrect. Rest assured we will correct this adjustment amount and this will be reflected in your account early next week.

Shortly after we will pay out your June earnings plus the correct portion of earnings owed to you as a result of the incorrect exchange rate.

We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

The Google AdSense Team

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. kiwi_nz121 7/5/12 3:59 PM
I also realized a wrong exchange rate for payment and adjustment of June. The exchange rate should be around 1.31 instead of 1.25 .

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. mobilenvidia 7/7/12 2:03 AM
I've only just noticed the issue my self.
Is Google fixing all the affected folk or do you have to complain to get the funds owing ?

Been 9 days since issue first raised.

Not the first time this has happened, I had a nosey through my history and December 2007 the same thing happened.
Luckily Google get it right most of the time.

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. freitasm 7/12/12 1:46 PM
It's now a week since Google's last email saying they have issued the credit to the account and "We will process payment to you early next week which will include your June earnings plus the portion of earnings owed from June payment."

No sign of the payment. And no reply from anyone at Google that manages my account. And no reply from Google here.

So frustrating...

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. Brandon Ruscoe 7/15/12 11:35 PM
This is getting very annoying, no word at all from Google, still haven't gotten a payment for what they OWE us.
What does Google consider a few days? Weeks!?
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. defyboy 7/16/12 3:05 AM

Come on Google.

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. defyboy 7/18/12 1:58 AM
Well,

I hit up Google via email again, questioning both the conversion rate and the lack of payment as specified, I have not had a response as of yet but Lo and Behold by account now suddenly says payment in progress.

Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. freitasm 7/18/12 4:20 PM
Yes, I see a "Payment issued" in my account now. Nothing in the bank yet but probably will show up tomorrow or Saturday.
Re: Incorrect currenct converstion rate. Budz 8/2/12 8:53 PM
All sorted now, correct payment has come through. Thanks google
