If the YouTube channel and your Gmail account are connected to separate Google accounts, then no, I'm afraid you're in the same situation the rest of us have been ever since Google decided it would be a brilliant idea to integrate all their products and automatically log you into most products and accounts associated with a given Google account.
This, in fact, is one of the reasons I rarely log into or upload to my account that matches my nickname here. Since when I was asked to become a TC I realized that I would probably want to be logged into a YouTube channel where I could upload test videos that no one was likely to want to watch, I associated THIS Google account with that test channel, keeping my more entertaining channel separated. As a result I often go for weeks without logging into that channel, since doing videos for entertainment purposes is costly, time consuming and unlikely to generate income sufficient to justify the effort, except for purely expressive purposes, which I tend to find are better served by other video sharing services not dominated by a host of immature, badly informed and generally annoying trolls.
Sorry for the long answer. The short one is, if your channel isn't tied to your Gmail account, you'll need to go through a back-and-forth login process that I certain agree is fairly annoying.
