FWIW ... at least for some of us using Google.com from within the US, we also do not have the "Change Background Image" link today, if we are logged into our accounts.  It seems that the bouncing ball doodle might be interfering.

That said, there are a number of other solutions to get through the day without experiencing the current (bouncing ball) logo.

How do I turn off those silly Google homepage logo animations?
