Glad we finally got some kind of update. I absolutely agree with SGS_Gorbs: we MUST be given the option to sync all past events manually. If not, Google really have screwed the pooch on this one.
To be brutally honest, although MrEvan thinks the Calendar might well be fine now, I doubt I'd ever trust Google Calendar again given this utter shambles.
I mean, for a start it, *automatically* deleted all past events when the bug happened and then after following the officially recommended advice that every person also seemed to report worked for them, I clear my calendar data only to be told that this has made it impossible to get old events back at all! Infuriating!!
Add to this the six weeks this issue went on for, and the fact that the paucity of regular updates left many feeling abandoned - I'm afraid I absolutely will not be choosing Android again.
I wanted to support the cheaper, less tyrannical ethos Android has over iOS, but Google have utterly destroyed my confidence in their platform and frittered away the massive support and goodwill I had for them.
At least the hyper expensive world of Apple buys you the most important thing of all when it comes to devices and services that you entrust your life's data to - ACTUAL AND TIMELY CUSTOMER SERVICE.
