Rapper Snoop Dogg was arrested at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint Saturday morning in Sierra Blanca, after agents found marijuana in his tour bus. Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr., was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia by the Hudspeth County Sheriff's Office. He is ordered to appear in court before or on Jan. 20.
In total, the marijuana weighted .13 pounds. Broadus Jr. admitted that the marijuana belonged to him and was placed under arrest by border patrol agents, the press release said. Around 4 a.m. sheriff deputies were called to the scene. They issued Broadus Jr. a citation and he was released, the press release said. According to Snoop's twitter, he was in San Antonio on Sunday.
The El Paso region has a history of musicians dancing with the law. Rappers Paul Wall and Baby Bash were arrested in El Paso in September by El Paso County constables on suspicion of possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana in a drug-free zone.
Back in 2010, country singer Willie Nelson was arrested at the same Border Patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca for allegedly having about 6 ounces of marijuana.
