|Why is my video playing so fast?||aleishamcgee||3/5/11 7:24 AM|
Hi I just uploaded my very first YT video, and it is playing very fast. It has the audio and everything, just playing about twice as fast as it should. This should be an 8+ minute video and for some reason it is cut down to 4 minutes. I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and in lamens terms please! :)

What program did you use to edit/create your video (include version # and operating system)?
What method did you use to upload your video to YouTube?
A link to your video would be helpful...

I am so tech dumb it's not even funny, so don't laugh if I am answering the completely wrong thing. I used my camcorder, an HD one. Uploaded it to my computer where it is saved to my pictures and plays fine. Then I uploaded it to YT. I never edited anything. That is all that I did. I deleted it so I can't post a link but I guess I will re-upload and then put one on here. I am so lost.

What is the name of the "pictures" program on your computer (iPhoto, iView MediaPro, ???)
What is the file extension of the video file (.MOV, .MP4, .AVI, ???)
Do you use you web browser to upload your videos -- or do you use the "pictures" program to upload videos?

Your video will likely have to be re-encoded then re-uploaded to YouTube. What kind of computer are you using (Mac or PC)?

iPhoto creates .MOVs using a codec and frame rate(s) that don't play well with YT. You can use iMovie to transcode your MOV created by iPhoto to a MOV that will playback properly when uploaded to YT by doing the following:
– Import the .MOV created w/ iPhoto into iMovie
– from iMovie use Share/Export to create a new .MOV on your hard drive that confroms to the specifications: google.com/support/forum/p/youtube/thread?tid=3bc2a517524767a9&hl=en
– upload the .MOV to YT
