I have uploaded videos often. I keep getting "unable to convert video file" regardless of which browser I use. Help! tomfarrell54 11/17/11 10:12 AM
I have tried probably a dozen times to upload a wmv video that is on my computer.  I have tried using IE, Firefox 8 and Chrome.  I keep getting the same error over and over saying: "unable to convert video file."  The wmv file plays fine on my computer.  I have tried your regular uploader and your basic uploader. I don't know what else to do?  Help!

Use a supported file format:

This error generally refers to problems with the video encoding.

David,

I am running Windows XP Professional so I cannot download Windows Movie Maker.  You said in your answer that I had a video encoding problem.  The file is already a WMV file.  It plays fine on my computer.  It just won't upload to You Tube.  I keep getting "unable to convert video file."  What other program can I use to fix the video encoding?  Please advise.  I needed to get this done several days ago.  Help!

Thanks,
Tom

If you have Windows XP, you should have Windows Movie Maker already installed in your Accessories folder.

What program did you use to create the WMV file?

I created the wmv file using Go to Webinar.  It plays automatically using Windows Media Player.  Should I re-create the video using Windows Movie Maker?

GoToWebinar is geared for web conferencing and live seminars. It's not really a tools for videomaking.

I have uploaded videos created from Webinars on Go to Webinar before with NO problems.  This one won't upload.  I keep getting the "unable to convert video" error message despite using every browser out there.  Any ideas?  Thanks, Tom

G2M video codec is not supported! Run it through windows movie maker.
