Known Issue: editing/deleting playlists causes "Invalid request" error message Liz YouTube support 3/12/10 4:06 PM
Hi everyone,

I've seen that many of you are having trouble deleting videos from your playlists, adding new playlists, and editing existing playlists. When you try to take any of these actions you receive "Invalid request" error message.

I reported this issue to the YouTube Team earlier today and they're currently investigating the issue. Thank you for alerting us of this bug, and also for your patience while our engineers work on a fix for the situation.

I have noticed a number of comments saying that this bug affects those using the Internet Explorer browser. Try using another browser such as Google Chrome or Firefox.

I have the same issues, been like that for a few days now, cannot delete any videos at all, and that includes playlist... etc... I am glad to hear however that Youtube has been made aware of this problem, hope its fixed soon. :o)

Here we go again... Another YouTube bug...  Will it ever end?  It's always something with YouTube.  And now people are saying to switch from IE8 to Google Chrome???  You have to be kidding.  I'm not going to add another defective Google product to the defective Google YouTube.  Goodbye Google Picasa...  Goodbye Google toolbar...  Google is becoming like Toyota, once very dependable and reliable and now less and less reliable.

@ sneakyguy99 Then use FireFox...
Using a non-IE browser is just a workaround until YouTube can fix the bug. The alternative is just to hold off on doing anything with your playlists until YouTube fixes it....which could be weeks, days...months.

There are other bugs with playlists that are longer lasting.

1) Renumbering videos in playlists I can end up with "double numbers". Such as two videos that are #13.

2) Renumbering again, sometimes removes the Remove button.

3) Also, I also have an error where if I delete videos sometimes the playlist view turns from EXPANDED to ABBREVIATED.

Using Firefox.

Hey Liz!!

When is the fix going to be in on this issue? I can't have my Playlist locked up like this for days on end. Check with your Techies and get some sort of time schedule so you can give all of us a more definative answer.

Are you guys able to renumber the videos in the list?

How about copy them to another playlist?

BTW, here's the video playlist I have that is bugged.

Play it till video 8, 9 , 10, and it will bug out.

On my edit playlist screen the numbers are wrong. The same happens at around video 13 or so.

Yeah jinitron - The SAME thing happens with my playlist too!! I get to about to the sixth or seventh selection and it "bugs out" as you put it. This has been going on for a long time. Plus, the suggestions for getting around this problem using FireFox and GoogleChrome. Well, FireFox wanted me to load the newest version of Adobe Flashplayer. I ALREADY have the newest version of Adobe Flashplayer loaded. Google Chrome would not install. Would you believe it...I got the same message ( pop-up ) as I do when I try to adjust or delete on my Playlist here on YouTube....INVALID. Must be Googles favorite glitch and catch-phrase these days...INVALID!

Hi, I hope it's here where I can ask my question. For more than three days I haven't been able to play videos. It always reads: "An error occurred. Please try again later." However, when I go the the uploader's page and watch the respective video in the screen where featured videos appear, the video works. Once I click, say the title, so I watch the video on the page with comments and everything, the bug appears.

In other words, I can watch the video here: http://www.youtube.com/
uraganotenergiya

But I can't watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tQfqdfkVYg

And that's for all videos.

Thanks in advance

P.S. I installed the newest version of FlashPlayer/whatever the thing was, but it's still the same

I found way to get around problem in IE (I have Windows 7 IE version 8). Go to Tools uncheck Compatibility View. You will then be able to delete Playlist, move videos to other Playlists... I've been unable to do these tasks for the past week until I thought of UNCHECKing this today. Youtube still needs to fix this problem...

Re: Known Issue: editing/deleting playlists causes "Invalid request" error message plyball 3/15/10 9:22 PM
Hey pTwist - I don't know who you are, but you are freaking awesome. My Playlist has been locked out for about seven days and your idea worked perfectly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are ever around the Foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Northern California...I owe you dinner and a few drinks!! You might want to go to work for Google / YouTube and show them how it's done and make some serious scratch to go along with it!

THANK YOU!! - PLYBALL

uraganotenergiya, are you still having the problem of not being able to watch videos on the player page? Please reply to this thread if you still need assistance (or let us know if your problem is resolved). Thanks!.
Re: Known Issue: editing/deleting playlists causes "Invalid request" error message MsXizan 3/16/10 11:24 AM
Liz, what if you're not allowed to download a new browser, as suggested by MysteryWeaver1?  For axample, I have to use YouTube at a public library and they DO NOT allow peokle to download a different  browser...you are REQUIRED to use Internet Explorer or nothing at all.
Re: Known Issue: editing/deleting playlists causes "Invalid request" error message sneakyguy99 3/16/10 5:01 PM

Hi pTwist,

Thanks for the help.  I have Vista and IE8.  I kind of did what you said to do but not exactly the same and it worked. Instead of unchecking compatibility view I completely removed youtube from the list of websites using compatibility view.  I clicked on Tools and then Compatibility View Settings.  When I did this I got a list of about 15 websites using compatibility view.  YouTube was one of these websites.  I then removed youtube from the list without unchecking anything. Thus the remaining websites will still be using compatibility view.  I assume that I inadvertently clicked on compatibility view by mistake for youtube.  I now can work with my playlists again.  Thanks

Re: Known Issue: editing/deleting playlists causes "Invalid request" error message rslitman 3/16/10 7:21 PM
I'm using Internet Explorer 7 under Windows XP. I looked in the Tools menu, but there is no option called "Compatibility View", at least not immediately apparent.

Do I need to bring up Internet Options (the last item on the menu), or am I out of luck with what is now undoubtedly an obsolete version of Internet Explorer?

Despite Google's efforts to market Chrome (and I will get around to trying it one of these days, I really will), IE is still the most commonly used browser on the market. I was slow to adapt it after years as a Netscape user, but it became too much of a burden to encounter sites that were "best viewed in Internet Explorer" as the 2000s began. Maybe now as the 2010s begin, someone else may finally nudge IE out of the front-runner slot, but it hasn't quite happened yet.

Therefore, I hope that YouTube will do its bit in making playlist maintenance using IE, including IE 7, work again. Thanks.

@rslitman - go to Windows Updates on your Start Menu.
You should find IE 8 offered as an (free) update.
Install it, try YT, then pay heed to pTwist's wisdom (if found necessary) and by the sounds, you should get to be all good again.
Let us know how you get on!

Hope that helps some and happy YouTubing...

Re: Known Issue: editing/deleting playlists causes "Invalid request" error message rslitman 3/17/10 3:37 PM
Thanks, faberoptime, for your suggestion. I am not yet in a position to update to IE 8. Can someone please tell me where to find "Compatibility View" in Internet Explorer 7? Thanks so much in advance! (And here's hoping it's not a new feature for IE 8, just something moved to a more accessible location.)
Re: Known Issue: editing/deleting playlists causes "Invalid request" error message midgegirl16 4/5/10 12:31 PM
I'm in Firefox and getting a "Videos Not Specified" error when I try to check a song and click "Remove" in My Videos.

Looks like I found another/a new bug!

I would greatly appreciate it if you would quickly fix all your problems, Youtube.  Like, by reverting to the old version of Youtube.

Thanks!

I like to say that in IE I was unable to create a new playlist and as advised in these forums I tried to do it in firefox and it worked without problems

@sneakyguy99 I was using Chrome and couldn't get it to work, so open it in IE instead and worked first time.
