I get a split screen on Youtube. Jared2082 6/17/10 6:59 AM
I get a split screen whenever I play anything on Youtube. The screen is divided by a bright green horizontal line, with two identical videos playing above and below it.

What is going on? How do I fix this?

Never seen that before. Wow.

Some questions:

Is this happening on every video, or just some?
Is it happening on other video broadcasting sites, or just YouTube?
What browser are you using?
What operating system are you using?
What version of Flash are you using?

Downgrading Flash is notoriously difficult, but I think there's a way. I'd suggest googling around for an answer to that one, unless somebody else reading this knows how.

I have passed this on, by the way, but if it's happening on every video site, it must be a problem with something out of YouTube's control.

If anyone else with this problem could post here and answer my questions, we might be able to narrow the problem down.

Hey Grimnebulin and Jared,

Thanks for the detailed reports, and the screenshot! Rewboss: appreciate you lending a hand and passing this info along to us. I've let the YouTube engineering team know about the situation... unfortunately, there are other users also impacted by the split screen and discussing this situation (here for example: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/youtube/thread?tid=5d109ddccf0e04c7&hl=en
). Their reports have also been sent over to our engineering team, and we're going to try and work with Adobe to see what's causing the issue and how to get it resolved so that you don't continue having double vision ;)

Really appreciate your notification, and your patience while we're trying to get this sorted. All the best from this end,

~ Liz

Thanks so much Grimnebulin - your solution solved my (very annoying) split screen which I've had for weeks!

What graphics card are you using?

I'm running Firefox with Flash 10.1.53.64 on a 32bit XP system and a 64bit Win7 system. Both systems are configured with nVidia graphics... I'm not seeing this split screen issue on either system.
Probably not related but what CPU is being used?

I also have the same problem. Running XP Pro 64 Intel Core Duo CPU with FireFox. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I don't think the CPU is relevant. The version numbers of Firefox and Flash that you're using may be.

SportPilot, have you tried downgrading your Flash installation as Grimnebulin described?

I also have this same issue, in both Chrome and Firefox. I upgraded Flash just today, only to discover the split-screen with the green line through it on nearly every video I watched.

I am also on a 64-bit machine, running Win XP Pro 64.

I had the same problem. On checking up my video card driver appeared obsolete, or more so than the flash player. After an update the split screen and the green bar in the centre were gone. So try this as well. Good luck.Gus.
