iGoogle on Mobile not working? (August 2012) Midijimman 8/2/12 3:38 AM
Last day or so none of my personalisations have appeared on the iGoogle home page on an iPhone. Anyone else experiencing this?
iGoogle is fine on desktop...

Still why can't we even browse to the desktop version of iGoogle on iPhone?

kjetil_h:

I guess you'd need to change your browser settings so that Google sees the iPhone as a desktop computer.

Which setting would that be? Are you talking about a User agent spoof?

The thing is I've tried clicking on "Classic" (http://www.google.com/m?nomo=1&hl=en) and then go to iGoogle but I'm just redirected back to the normal search page (http://www.google.com/m?ig=0)

Same here. I've tried clicking on "classic" next to "mobile" at the bottom of the page and it keeps reverting back to "mobile" every time and won't allow me to view in classic. I tried Safari and Chrome. I was under the impression that iGoogle was going to be around until Nov. 2013, but I guess they nuked the mobile version already. GG. They said something to the effect of the need for iGoogle eroding with smartphones and tablets and laptops and such iirc from the announcement I saw when I first saw the message a while back regarding 2013. They said we could just get at our data from other sources, and they mentioned some Google products. Well, they are right, I guess I'll get my information elsewhere. There's Protopage, Netvibes, and then there's old Yahoo with their big fat search box right up top powered by Bing. Good way to push a long time Google user to a competitor. I've got an old Hotmail account that I set up over 10 years ago. Also, that support link up top took me to a page that said "page not available"... Go figure.

It's just ridiculous, fine kill the mobile version but why can't we use the desktop version?

Guess I'll have to check out Protopage or Netvibes, or maybe even write something myself..
