Sexist and Sexy are not the same. Google changing search results to false "synonyms" CAMjunk130 2/16/13 1:22 AM
Google search's changing of words to "synonyms" is annoying and unhelpful. I could list plenty of examples but I will just mention one here. Recently I was looking for a video discussion about possible sexism in education, specifically female elementary school teachers. The search changed "sexist" to "sexy" or "sexiest" which are VERY different results. Had I been researching in the school library I would have undoubtedly gotten some sideways glances for the borderline NSFW results. Only 2 of the 10 results were close to what I had searched for. I want search results to show the terms I typed, preferably in close proximity. Please stop trying to guess what I want to find and just show me results!

(Also do not get me started about changing spelling for names "Ashlee" vs. "Ashley" or changing words from nouns "paraglider" to "paragliding" are recent examples)

Hi Camjunk,

Thanks for your note!!
If at any time you're not satisfied with a particular search result, you can send us feedback through the "Give us Feedback" link at the bottom of any search results page. This will send us info with the particular information of your search.

Thanks,
Jean

I did submit feedback for the search page, but figured this was significant enough for a forum post.

Thanks for your reply.

This is a very good example of how similarly spelled words can have very different meanings. I think you might need to use the "verbatim" tool as a workaround. http://support.google.com/websearch/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1734130
