google blocked me, listed attack site. Won't verify... it's a MESS! tessada1 9/21/10 5:11 PM
I have read the FAQs and checked for similar issues: YES
My site's URL (web address) is: www.TessadasExotics.com
Description (including timeline of any changes made): I have contacted JustHost.com and told them of everything going on. Had them re-set the DNS... Delete the whole site and re-instal it. I have been doing this for two days now and NOTHING!
I can finally log on, but I can not get Google to verify my site. I have done the DNS verification a few times, as well as the meta tag. And all it does is keep saying that it can't find anything. I have read over a couple other discussions. I am not a pro at this, I really have NO idea what I am doing. But for two years now I have had one issue after another with my web site and JustHost.com and this one is the worst. I own a Cattery and am finally ready to start selling kittens and now the site is completely useless. PLEASE HELP ME! I need to get verified somehow and fix my web site and have Google stop blocking it. I'll be reading more discussions here waiting for help.
Thank you!
So my questions are:
Why was I blocked if Google's report says that my site has NOT hosted malware and has NOT infected any other sites?
How can I verify it if I can't edit my site because it is blocked? (Yes I have ignored the warning, but because it is there it doesn't allow the stie builders to load correctly. I have uploaded several new templates adding in the meta tag and I have added the verification code to the DNS... Still nothing.)
How in the monkey do I get Google to stop blocking my site?

Why can't you edit your site? Google only blocks linking to it from searches, it cannot stop you from accessing your  server by a browser or by FTP.

Of course if your site is infected then you don't want to access it by any browser unless you are 10000% sure your antivirus will block all malware - and one can never be sure of that.

To verify the site you need to either uplaod the verification  file or add  the verification meta tag.

Yes the site is flagged as having malware, last time it was visited was Aug 31.

Currently you don't appear to have much of a site - the homepage says it's under construction.

You shoudl be able to verify by DNS TXT record. This should not be affected by whatever nasty resposne yoru server has to Googlebot.

OK,
How do I upload the verification file? My computer is blocking the access to log onto my site to edit anything. I can log onto JustHost.com... But then I can't access any of the site builder programs, that is when it blocks me.

From the control panel, there is an option that say "DNS domain manager". That is where I went and added the DNS TXT from Google. I added it where it says "nameservers" and clicked to save changes. It told me it had been updated. But then when I try to verify, Google says it can't verify...

IF I click ignore the warning and try to edit my site, the pages will not load. It just thinks and thinks and thinks. So I can not get to any of my pages to edit any names or add any kind of text to the home page.

I can install a new template, but not "view/edit my site". I have also tried verifying my site by installing a new template and adding the meta tag into it. The meta tag goes through, but then it won't verify... (I have done a couple random templates and just added the tag to try and verify it, that's why it's a mess right now...)

I am using AVG 9.0 for virus protection. I scanned EVERYTHING last night and it didn't pull up anything bad. I had it remove all cookies just in case. But I didn't see anything that I wasn't expecting to see.

another note: I just installed a new web site from the control panel and added the meta tag everywhere possible... and still nothing. The verification failed again.

Use and FTP program. Lots of free ones around, like CuteFTP.

You may have added the DNS TXT record wrong. I cannot test now though.

Alright, I installed Cute FTP Pro. (I just picked that one guessing maybe it's better) But now what do I do? I don't know the first thing about FTP. I don't even know what FTP stands for. File? Transfer...? Program? Maybe?
How do I use it and what do I do with the program? I read all of the tips that it gives when you start up. And I did the encryption. (I am guessing the encryptions was for my site so that it's harder to hack. Not sure though.)
I just don't have a clue what I am looking at or what to do with it... Sorry to sound like an idiot, but I am a SLOW learner when it comes to computers. It surprises me that I have made it this far!

You use the ftp program to uplpad a file from your pc to your hosting account on the server.

What is it that I want to upload?

Am I supposed to add the DNS TXT anywhere?
Re: google blocked me, listed attack site. Won't verify... it's a MESS! webado 9/22/10 1:46 PM
The verification file  that Google gives you in Webmaster Tools.

The DNS TXT method is different and you do that from the domain registrar,

How and where do I add the verification?
Re: google blocked me, listed attack site. Won't verify... it's a MESS! webado 9/22/10 6:33 PM
How much of all the instrucitons have you read on how to verify a site?
Re: google blocked me, listed attack site. Won't verify... it's a MESS! tessada1 9/22/10 6:34 PM
OH! And I found a page that I think is the HTML for the web site (on the CuteFTP) and in the HTML there are a bunch of things that say Sosospider and Baiduspider... are those bad? I have no idea what it is, spider just sounds bad.
Thanks

From Google I have only tried the meta tag and the DNS, and I have read all the instructions
Re: google blocked me, listed attack site. Won't verify... it's a MESS! tessada1 9/22/10 6:35 PM
I just don't know how to find anything for the web site using CuteFTP. I really don't understand the program at all...
Re: google blocked me, listed attack site. Won't verify... it's a MESS! tessada1 9/22/10 6:38 PM
I have been trying to figure out how to get to where I can add the metatag to the home page, and I don't have a clue. I have clicked around on a bunch of things, but nothing happens. And the folders that seem like they should open and do something don't show me anything that does anything. I am SOOOO CONFUSED!
Re: google blocked me, listed attack site. Won't verify... it's a MESS! webado 9/22/10 6:51 PM
Obviously you are not in control of your website content sufficiently. If you were you'd be able to add any meta tag you want to add.

So instead of adding a meta tag just upload the verification  file. You get that in Webmaster Tools by selecting a different method of verification.

If that fails (the server may be set up to stupidly modify any .html file, it's been known to happen) just add the verification n  DNS TXT record through the registrar. Ask for their help

When you click Verify in Webmaster Tools make sure you select he verification method you actually used.

Hi tessada1

To help speed things up a bit, I submitted a malware review request in your name from my side. I'd still strongly recommend working with your hoster to make sure that you can verify ownership of your website in Webmaster Tools, but at least the malware review request should be on the way now. I checked one of the URLs manually, and it looked good to me, but our automated systems are much better at this than I am, so you'll have to wait for them to run through their steps.

Hope it helps & good luck with your site!

John

Thank you John! I just submitted ANOTHER email to JustHost.com and requested that they add the DNS TXT to the configuration. Hopefully, they can manage to accomplish this and then I will be all set.
And a separate question to anyone willing to answer... I HATE JustHost.com, who should I use instead? I have had them for over two years now and they have been HORRIBLE  from day one! Would like to know what other people use and how the experience has been. Good and bad reviews..

Thank you to all!

For domain registration I prefer Godaddy.

For hosting Hostgator is quite good.

I can't wait for my subscription to be over with these guys. I asked what they will do to make sure this doesn't happen again, since I am paying for protection against hackers, and this is what I get. This is all I ever get:

Re: google blocked me, listed attack site. Won't verify... it's a MESS! webado 9/23/10 1:48 PM
A pc antivirus would not  find malware in source code for a website generally, because that usually involves malicious javascript redirection or downloads of viruses and trojans from other sites. It's not the kind of stuff a PC antivirus discovers in files on the pc itself.

It does sound like possibly that entire server is compromised if nothing's going away.

I suggest you don't wait for your contract to expire just find new hosting now and rebuild yoru site elsewhere from scratch. But do be careful what software you are using for that.
