Hi Jacob

Looking at the site, it seems to be that its content is written more with search engines in mind than with visitors. The internal link structure also looks more than a little artificial and made to boost rankings rather than visitor relevance.

I rather suspect that you've been listening to the wrong people about "all good things for SEO". It would probably be a great idea to study Google's Webmaster Guidelines and the Google SEO Starter Guide, and to then make adjustments to your site according to what you learn.

Hope it helps.

Cheers

Sasch

Also... have you received any messages through your Webmaster Tools dashboard?
Re: Ranking gone down Badly... Luke :) 3/6/13 2:08 AM
You have a link scheme running - your blog - http://cavalierstudios.blogspot.com/
Has follow links to your main site.

Ideally the blog should be hosted under your domain - and all links to your site should be nofollowed (you can do that in blogger)

Also you have piled on a bunch links recently

Were these natural links?

Your blog would be loudest in needing fixing , then you have 60 links on 2 sites , articlesblast and articlesfactory which I can tell are spam without even clicking on them.
Re: Ranking gone down Badly... Sasch 3/6/13 2:32 AM
That... would be why I asked about Webmaster Tools messages. ;-)

Agreed on keeping the blog in-house...
Re: Ranking gone down Badly... jacobwatson 3/6/13 3:36 AM
Agreed on points you have pointed. I didn't get any Webmaster Tools messages yet.
How to find un-natural links pointing to my site. Any tool or ... Can you help me in this?
Re: Ranking gone down Badly... Sasch 3/6/13 10:14 AM
Hey again Jacob

Well... a good starting point is usually to get any links you've actually paid for either nofollowed or taken down. From there, take a look at your site's inbound link profile and try to identify any links you're not really comfortable retaining. One great approach I've seen recommended is to take the task in reverse, and to select which link you would like to keep first, then second, and so on, until you're really not happy to keep anymore of them.

Really?!? you should nofollow links from your sites blog to your website?  Not sure if it's bad to ask a question on someone else's question, let me know if it is.

I can't have a blog on my main site because my hosting company doesn't allow it.  So I have  totally different url for my blog.  I thought one of the added benefits of having a blog was the follow links to your site, whether it's on or off the domain.

Honestly if you're host company can't manage slapping a blog on your main site you may have bigger issues. But an offsite blog is bad for users and certainly not helpful for rankings as these aren't the natural type of links that Google is looking for and using to improve ranking.
Re: Ranking gone down Badly... cstinchcombe 3/6/13 11:41 AM
Unfortunately yes, my lack of knowledge to create and program my own site with shopping cart software that works with a canadian merchant account forces me to use an all in one ecommerce store from Volusion.

So having a blog then pretty much does me no good in creating authority and quality linked content won't help my site in the search engines?
Re: Ranking gone down Badly... cstinchcombe 3/6/13 11:43 AM
So I should just remove my blog because the links are probably hurting the site?
Re: Ranking gone down Badly... Ashley 3/6/13 11:48 AM
Instead of blogging - can you at least focus on adding unique content to your actual site?

Also just noticed we're hijacking someone's thread so it may be best if you start your own thread.
Re: Ranking gone down Badly... Sasch 3/7/13 4:29 AM
Meh... it's OK guys... Hijack away. :-)
Re: Ranking gone down Badly... gigFriend 3/9/13 4:02 PM
Hi,
  1. The first problem with your site is the keyword density.
  2. Use any social media to support the site.
  3. Use alt tag and title tag for images.
  4. Try to minimize the code to text ratio(CTR).
  5. Try to minimize the usage of h2 tags. Instead use the CSS.

Hope it helps.

Guys please drop your comment if I am wrong.

My site is: e-Bestsellers.com
