|Cache Error // Cache not showing // Viewing Cache shows "your search did not match any documents" ::: Auto-Response :::||Autocrat||5/12/10 7:09 AM|
This is an Auto-Response for the (moderately) common question/issue regarding Googles Cache Page.
This is an attempt to compile information for questions/issues such as;
Q: Why does the Cache not work
Q: Why does the Cache not exist
Q: When I go to view the Cache - it gives an error
Q: Viewing chache gives me an error message of "your search did not match any documents"
Q: Cannot view Cache - get an error message (your search did not match any documents)
Q: No Cache / Cache not working / Cache doesn't exist
============= What is the Cache? =============
The cache is merely a "snapshot" - showing what Google saw when it crawled.
As when Google Crawls, it will update it's Cache.
============= So why the Error? =============
It may be that the Cache file being referenced no longer exists.
This can/does happen if Google is currently updating the cache (recently crawled/processed).
It may also be that Google is consolidating/merging/canonicalizint data,
which may result in some Caches becoming obsolete/defunct.
It may also be a DataCenter issue.
Google holds data on numerous networks/DataCenters (DCs).
These DCs do not always have the same data - as they update over time.
So it is possible that Google has removed an old Cache whilst replacing with a new one.
It is also possible that a Cache has been "requested" for removal.
This may occur via the use of the "noarchive" robot meta and/or via the URL Removal Request tool.
============= What does the Error mean? =============
Simply that the requested Cache doesn't exist, or was not found at that time.
It shouldn't have any effect on Ranking.
============= What can I do about it? =============
Nothing at all.
This is a "general auto-response" post.This is Not a Topic for discussion;
It is a point of reference to save having to type the same answer repeatedly due to the sheer number of times this question is asked and is meant as an aid for people that don't seem search/read the various other posts regarding this topic.
Thank you for taking the time to read this Auto-Response.
Please - do Not post your questions in this topic!

============= What does that code mean? =============
You are refering to the strange bit,
in bold below?
Your search - cache:AXXD4353D:www.example.com/ - did not match any documents.
Likely a reference/ID string (Some sort of hash etc.)
It should have no bearing at all.
So it's nothing to worry about.
