Why does my website URL move position on different browsers and different computers even when I type in the same keyword MissHanifaD 1/11/11 6:00 AM
If I type in the words "wine gifts" on one computer using firefox my website ranks in a certain position, but if at the same time on a different computer someone else types in "wine gifts" into google the website url ranks in a different position. It's the same search, just on a different computer. Any ideas why this would happen?

Personalized search, hitting different datacenters, etc. There are a lot of reasons. I haven't seen it fluctuate a ton from place to place (unless you're using a diff search engine location like google.co.uk vs. google.com). I've seen personalization really have a bigger affect. Make sure you're signed out of your Google account when searching (to view results you might expect others to see).

One of the computers could have been part of a Google A/B test.... many many ways this could have happened
