Google Webmaster Tools notice of detected unnatural links to http://www.sbrforum.com/ sbrcynthia 3/6/12 6:30 AM
I have read the FAQs and checked for similar issues: YES
My site's URL (web address) is: http://www.sbrfourm.com and http://www.sportsbookreview.com
Description (including timeline of any changes made):
Received the Google webmaster tools notice of detected unnatural links to both sites mentioned above. We have checked our links and have not done anything to change our strategy other than providing unique content to our partners in hope of receiving credit back. We have fresh, unique content and we are considered a reputable site. I have looked at our link reports but nothing stands out. Can anyone give me some feedback on what the possible problem might be?

Could it be that there is excessive linking between both of my sites?

LOL 63.3k links to the sportsbookreview.com site. Yeah, totally under the radar. Not sure HOW on earth it could be spamming. Must be the links on the TWO pages indexed from sbrforum.com. Right. That's what it must be.

The stages of spamming:
1. LALALA I spam blog comments!
2. Unnatural link detection from Google..busted
3. Denial from spammer
4. Anger from spammer
5. Apologies and how to remove?
6. Silence...

And LOL at the backlink history.

I'm betting there are more than just these two sites in his WMT showing spam messages.

The domain sbrfourm.com may be for sale by its owner!

no website.

Thank Lysis for your reply, both are our sites that we interlink thru our family bar which we think might be the problem. Can you be more specific in terms of two pages indexed? We have over 2.9 million pages indexed and we are definitely not spammers, you might not like what we talk about but we are an authority in our space. Any help from you will be appreciated.

@i know nothing, try www.sbrforum.com not sbrfourm.com. Thanks

@Lysis, those are the only two sites in our WMT so what about our banklink history made you post that comment?

Because I've been here for almost 3 years, and you spammers fit the same profile every time.

I understand but I would be very interested in your detailed feedback. Both sites are on the same network, we are fixing the no follow issue with the family bar so I think that it will knock out those links down considerable. Our CMS is giving us problems so some pages were dup'd which we are fixing as well. If you look at our site www.sbrforum.com, you will see that we provide quality content that is unique and that our links are quality links. We have not lost rankings and actually our core keywords are improving which is odd for what I have read so far.

Any detailed feedback you could provide would be appreciated. I just want to know i'm on the right track!

I'm only seeing 2 pages indexed for the forum, and I'm curious if some of the other sites linking to you are yours as well.

I can't give you detailed feedback other than use open explorer or your favorite backlink tool and go through each backlink that you purchased and request removal of it from the site owner. Don't request reconsideration unless you get a sufficient amount of backlinks removed. Open explorer shows 63.3k backlinks. You basically have to go through and have the spam removed.

The basic answer to the issue is to have a sufficient number of links removed and file for reconsideration. If you can't, well, then the only option is to ride through the penalty. 63.3k is a lot for a 3 year old site, so it's obvious you purchased a lot of links. In your case, it might just be you'll have to ride it out.

Great feedback thank you. I think our issue is that 2 years ago we decided to integrate our Posting Forum, our contest site, our store and our games site and our odds site all under www.sbrforum.com. I think that might be the culprit for the number of backlinks. I will have to research with google how can I let them know that I have these sites all under one umbrella now. I thought that a 301 redirect was going to do it but it looks like i need to do something additional.

What does concern me is that you are only seeing 2 pages indexed for the forum? I am assuming you are doing site:www.sbrforum.com (1.2mm results) and site:sbrforum.com (2.9mm results)?

oh that's weird. I don't know what I searched on. Usually, I copy/paste a URL into Google, so I dunno what happened. Anyway, now I see all of the results, and you should 301 redirect the canonical issue.

I think you are chasing the wrong thing for paragraph 1, but if you think the whole problem is linking 1 domain to another, go ahead and try it and file for a reconsideration.
Re: Google Webmaster Tools notice of detected unnatural links to http://www.sbrforum.com/ I know nothing 3/6/12 9:34 AM
Using the link:

http://www.sbrfourm.com/

Takes me to a page that states:

http://www.sedo.co.uk/search/details.php4?domain=sbrfourm.com&language=e&et_sub=22&partnerid=14456&et_cid=13&et_lid=17473&origin=parking

That is your domain name that is parked with SEDO.

The www part is a sub domain of your domain name.

Oh, there you go. That's why I showed no results. The OP mistyped his domain name.

Sorry about that, was trying to figure that one out myself

So that's it then, competitors can just send some spam blog comments to our sites for $5 and the "Unnatural link detection" message from Google will follow.

It seems that Google is now showing people how easy it is to bring a site down with spam links.

We have NO CONTROL over the links that point to our sites, so why are people being punshed for this?

It would be better if Google just devalued the spammy in bound links.

I am done with these silly games!

I was hit last year by multiple xrumer attacks that saw my site plummit in the rankings.

Its now happened to another company of mine that is well known and even part of a goverment initiative!

I am now taking this as apersonal attack by Google, we have no control over the spam/Negative SEO being targeted towards us. 20k links a day cost less than $50 from my research. How can I possibly stop that!

As a result I have now spoken to 5 major UK newspapers all of which are interested in the story as we are a well known brand.

All that will happen now is businesses in SERPS position below 1st 2nd 3rd, will start to pay for negative SEO and watch their competition drop out the results.

By xrumer blast, blog posts, blog rolls, and many other techniques. They seemt o be so cheap that anyone could do it.

What a joke!
