PC World Displaying Mothercare Page Title In SERPS Craig Welby 3/6/12 7:42 AM
Hey Guys,

If you would like to go to google.co.uk and search for "PC Word Teesside Park" you will see the PC World homepage has "mothercare" for a page title within the SERPS. If I was PC World I would be rather annoyed.

Thanks RevaxMedia. I've passed on your report to the relevant team internally.

There seems to be more than one example of Google displaying the wrong page title within the SERPS. Another example:

Searching in UK Google - "Monsterstuff" brings up first page  with a title of "monsterstuff.com" which is a .co.uk domain, a further search of "Monsterstuff Novelty Gifts" brings back a different page title for the page.

That monster stuff example is actually working as intended.

The first search for monsterstuff brings back a perfect match.

Check the source code for the page monsterstuff.co.uk, the title is monsterstuff.com.

The page itself also references

" If I was PC World I would be rather annoyed."

Well at least they still get to spam the charts with http://www.currys.co.uk/ which is an exact duplicate of the PC world website, so no harm done to their blanket ownership of the UK personal computer SERPS

From digging around the only thing I could think of is it's an error with one of their citation sources (in this case Wowcity). I wrote a post on what I found here- http://bit.ly/wv7xjW but I think it's probably due to this listing- http://uk.wowcity.com/hartlepool/?what=digital+camera+consumer+products

Adam, you were close, but the wrong source, I suggest this is the cause, note that its an owner verified listing, also look at the reviews, Cylex in particular >
