I used to love GrandCentral, to the point that it became my primary telephone number. Now, since switching over to Google Voice, it no longer works and I can find nothing in the "Help" section matching my problem, nor can I find it by googling. Anyone that calls my Google Voice number gets the message "I'm sorry, but the person you are calling has a voice mailbox that has not been set up yet." It was set up before the transition and I have subsequently reset everything since to try to get it to work, but no love. Please help, as I am missing important phone calls because of this error. Had I known this would happen, I would have waited to switch. Thanks in advance for your help.

New wrinkle: I deleted all my customizations (new), deleted both my recorded greetings (new), turned off all notifications (new), turned off screening, presentation, Do Not Disturb and transcription. Now, if you call the number, I get a half-ring on the forwarded phone and then the same message cuts off the call. Definitely a problem with the Google switch. Fix this please!

Have you turned off caller presentation?  Could it be that one of the phones you are forwarding to does not have voicemail set up?  If so, and you have turned off call presentation, callers will hear that message rather than being sent to GV voicemail.

Yeah, I've tried that and I've double-checked all other voicemails that may be involved. No success. The problem definitely lies in the telephony/switching end of things with Google. I find it hard to believe no one else is seeing this problem. Perhaps they were like me and just don't know it was happening until they started missing phone calls. Anyone?

I think bobthecow is onto something.  I think the problem has got to be related to one of your forwarding numbers.  Try this:  Turn off ALL of your forwarding numbers but one.  Then call and see if you get the message.  Then try it with the next forwarding number (make sure it's the ONLY number that is active.)

Hopefully you'll be able to narrow it down this way.  If it starts working correctly when a certain forwarding number is turned off, you've found your problem.

I have three forwarding numbers with no voicemail on any of them...two of them have answering machines.  Does this mean that, if I turn off caller presentation, the callers will hear that message (assuming neither answering machine picks up)?

Thanks...

If you turn off call presentation and anything answers before 25 seconds, including an answering machine or voice mail, the call will go there.  After 25 seconds if there is no answer then the GV voice mail will pick up with call presentation off.  With call presentation on, you have to press a key to accept the call or it will go to GV voice mail.

Jeremy646 and bobthecow had it right, though I'm still not sure why. I went back and deleted all the phones except one and then the system started working. Then, I added the other phones back and it still works with just one phone selected or with multiple selected. So, future users, if you run into this same issue down the road, start with the phone numbers, not the settings. Thanks to all for the help.

I've been running into the same problem too, and it appears to be with one of my phones! I have two phones that my GV number forwards to:

1. My AT&T Landline
2. My AT&T Go Phone

If I have my AT&T Go Phone mobile device physically turned of, the problem will arise where my Landline will ring only 1 and a half times, and the caller gets the forwarded to my AT&T Go Phone voicemail box.

If I have my AT&T Go Phone mobile device physically turned on, everything works properly, and if I miss the call will go to my Google Voice voicemail.

Unfortunately, my only situation right now is to go to Settings and turn off/on the forwarding on my Go Phone device in order to stop this from happening.

I haven't found any information on how to force disable the voicemail on the AT&T Go Phone service.
