|Google Voice Add-on for Firefox||chadsmith||3/13/09 8:26 AM|
For those of you who are currently using my GrandCentral Click to Call Add-on for Firefox ( http://thatsmith.com/2008/06/grandcentral-addon-for-firefox/ ), I thought you'd like to know I am already working on a version for Google Voice.
The v0.3.0 of the GrandCentral addon still dials out with Google Voice, but your recent call list will no longer update.
A test version of the Google Voice addon is almost ready. You can follow the progress on it at http://thatsmith.com/2009/03/google-voice-addon-for-firefox/

Excellent! Thanks for staying on top of this! Will the full integration with the Google account mean that I won't have to type in my master password twice upon Firefox startup anymore?

v0.0.1pre is out

THanks chad I love this ext. Let me know how I can donate to the cause. Thanks so much.

I hope that you can keep up with the changes to the hooks and features on GV. I really appreciate your swiftness. :-)

Very cool.. Thank You...
Are you taking requests or do you pretty much have it figured out what you want to do with this?
|Re: Google Voice Add-on for Firefox||chadsmith||3/20/09 9:39 AM|
I'm really just developing it on the side, but if you have features you'd like to see let me know and I'll definitely see what I can do. I'm still not that versed in making Firefox addons though. The next thing I'd like to add are alert sliders when there is a new voice message or SMS.

v0.1.0 is out.

Anyone tried v0.1.0 on a Mac? If so, please comment on how it's working.

@chadsmith Did you twitter about the update? I missed it until this thread got bumped.

Yep, I snuck it in Friday night.
|Re: Google Voice Add-on for Firefox||JoshFink||3/23/09 10:06 PM|
Chad, do you know of a reason that the "Click to Call" doesn't work in the sidebar? I've created a small little web page that opens in the sidebar that contains my "quick list" of phone numbers I dial frequently. If I could just click on a number there and dial it life would be easier for me.

Is this add-on a script? Can it be converted to a script? I want to try it with Google Chrome
(i dont know too much about add-ons for firefox and how they are coded)
|Re: Google Voice Add-on for Firefox||Randy A||3/24/09 7:59 AM|
It is not a script, it is a Firefox extension. You aren't going to be able to make it work.

Works awesome. Even on Solaris :)
|Re: Google Voice Add-on for Firefox||Dennis Wilson||3/25/09 5:55 PM|
Chad, do my user ID and password have to be reentered every time I start Firefox, or is there some way to make the extension retain that info?
Thanks for a job well done, by the way.

Beta Release: v0.2.0b1 is now working fine on both:
Mac OS X 10.3.9/Firefox 22.214.171.124 and
Mac OS X 10.4.11/Firefox 3.0.8
|Re: Google Voice Add-on for Firefox||lowspeed||4/3/09 4:15 AM|
btw there some sort of a bug that causes this addon to switch the google account you are logged in. it keeps switching me to my other google account.
|Re: Google Voice Add-on for Firefox||JoshFink||4/3/09 7:43 AM|
This sounds more like a cookie issue than a problem with the Addon. It works fine for me.

Kudos to you chad ! I was just thinking of something like this and you have made it already... Awesome, Thanks !

A bug I noticed is the forwarding number has to be exactly 10 digits; no 1 or +1 preceeding.
|Re: Google Voice Add-on for Firefox||LTN||8/9/09 6:43 PM|
Wish he made it for IE also.
|Re: Google Voice Add-on for Firefox||Voyagerfan5761||8/9/09 6:45 PM|
@LTN: Writing new IE toolbars is completely different from writing Firefox extensions. I doubt it'll happen.
|Re: Google Voice Add-on for Firefox||LTN||8/9/09 6:48 PM|
That's right...because Firefox is open code.
|Re: Google Voice Add-on for Firefox||TanookiTravis||8/19/09 12:46 PM|
Maybe I'm drastically missing something but my add-on never informs me when I got SMS messages. It only alerts me of sent SMS and voice calls. Why is that?
|Re: Google Voice Add-on for Firefox||SnerdlyBosco||8/19/09 12:59 PM|
SMS notification is not a current feature of Google Voice add-on for Firefox.
|Re: Google Voice Add-on for Firefox||TanookiTravis||8/19/09 1:31 PM|
@Snerdly is there any reason for this? That would really make this add-on more useful for me personally if the hover-over effect happened on every new SMS, call, and voice message. Maybe Chad will ge this working.

|Re: Google Voice Add-on for Firefox||SnerdlyBosco||8/19/09 1:40 PM|
New message notification
Listen to most recently voice mail from the status bar
|Re: Google Voice Add-on for Firefox||chadsmith||8/19/09 1:43 PM|
@TanookiTravis I think what SnerdlyBosco meant is there are no popup notifications. I am still working on those.
As for SMS messages showing when you hover, they act just the same as calls and voice messages, and appear whether it was sent or received. It only shows the most recent action on your account, so if you received a message and then sent one or placed a call, only the last one will show up.
|Re: Google Voice Add-on for Firefox||TanookiTravis||8/19/09 2:28 PM|
Thanks Chad. I greatly look forward to these advancements. I already got two other people to use this add-on yesterday and they both asked me about these new features you are going to add. So thanks for that.
