Open Google Earth and go close to the ground, near a building that you want to get into SketchUp. In SketchUp, get the current Google Earth view.
Now in SketchUp look in the Components palette, and select Nearby Models. Any of the models near the location you've grabbed that are also in 3D Warehouse will show up, and you can take them straight into your scene.
Some models won't be available that way, and you may need to do searches in 3D Warehouse to find a version of that building.
