On my system the font choices point to almost all the fonts that I have available on my entire computer system. There are around one hundred with multiple sizes and formats too - bold , Italic etc. .
Are you saying that you can not find at least one that will suit you?
There is no way to add extra fonts to this list in Picasa.

Actually, there is. Here's how:
1. Uninstall Picasa
2. Copy the Fonts you want inside the Fonts folder in the Control Panel
3. Reinstall Picasa

You shouldn't have to uninstall Picasa. You just want Picasa to re-request the font set from Windows. Normally, restarting the program is enough. Sometimes, I've found that trying to print something (just go to Print, don't have to actually print) works.
Keep in mind that your system will slow down as you add tons of fonts (I hate those "10,000 Font" packs) and a font that is too far from the Windows standard may not work in all programs.

picasa text doesn't support the fonts of many foreign alphabets. i don't KNOW this, but it has been a problem stated by others who have wanted to use them.
byteguy -- how do you get picasa "to re-request the font set." i have the loki-cola font on my computer, and would love to use it in picasa. chanita

Re-request happens when a program asks Windows to refresh. I know Word only does this when you hit the print button.
If you've exited the program and restarted Windows and you still don't see the font then it could be that it's one of those "problem fonts"
There are lots of them out there on the internet that are just not up to spec. I have a desktop publishing program that is BRUTAL at ignoring fonts. Picasa seems to be "highly protective" which is really a good thing; they have to convert to pixels and a bad font will turn out ugly.
Some people have tried re-installing the same font and had it show up after two or three times.
Close the program and go to Start -> Settings -> Control Pannel -> Fonts to open the list. Then drag and drop the file out and in. You should see and "Installing" window really quick when you drop the font in.
Restart the computer and see if it shows up then.

thank you so much. i'm moving these instructions over to my "brain," which, fates willing, will never lock itself up again. time for a BIG backup, i suppose.
doing something about it might take awhile.... i need to take some classes, post haste. again, thank you. chanita
