Can I scan more than one picture at a time and transfer into Picasa? CalGal 8/11/09 5:58 AM
I have a HP Scanjet 5400 series.  The options I see for the "send to" is Share to Web, Lotus Word Pro, Outlook Express or Paint.  Can I scan more than one picture and then transfer to Picasa?  Using the import feature in Picasa is a really slow process one picture at a time.  This is where my knowledge is really limited and I am relying on your expertise.  Thanks so much.  Cheryll

Don't use the Picasa Import with a scanner.

My experience is that it's best to use your scanner's software rather than Picasa's Import function.  Your scanner's software knows the special features of your scanner better than Picasa does.  Just have the scanner save the scans in a folder that is watched by Picasa.  If Picasa is open while you are scanning, it will pick up each scanned image as it is created. You can even edit earlier scanned images while new ones are scanning.

Different scanners work differently, especially with respect to how they handle multiple images scanned at the same time.  Some scanners (using their own software) will recognize the separate images and save them as separate files automatically.  This is especially useful (I would say it's really required) when you are scanning slides and strips of negatives.  Other scanners can't do this (and I don't believe Picasa's simple scanning interface does this), but you can separate the images yourself after the scan with Crop, Save a Copy, and Recrop.
