|how do you scan the hard drive for pictures?||catclarke700||5/29/10 11:55 AM|
I copied all my web albums from an old account to my new gmail account. Now the only pictures I see are the ones from the web albums. There are pictures that are on my hard drive that will not come into Picasa. I have tried the folder manager and scan always, importing files and folders into picasa and can't get them to show up. I know they are on the hard drive and that picasa is looking for that type of files- any other ideas?

Using Folder Manager, select the drive and set it "Remove from Picasa". Select one of the folders in the drive and set it "Scan Always". Let us know what happens.

thanks for your response! I really thought it was working- but when it re-loaded the particular folder that has missing pictures it didn't get them all again. I saw them in the little pop up bar on the right side of the screen as if imported the missing ones too but now they aren't in the folder! Any more ideas?

Picasa is sometimes "sticky"; it doesn't scan all the files in a folder on the first pass. Set some more folders "Scan Always" and see if the missing files are scanned.
There may be a bug in the scanning routine. There are several threads relating how Picasa went blind to folders after the drive was disconnected or the drive letter changed. I've had to manually change over 200 folders to "Scan Always" but eventually it worked and all files were scanned.
