Hi... Yes... this has been talked about a lot in the forum (although with the switch to the new forum, I haven't figured out if the search here finds hits in the other forum.

Yes... Picasa only lets you drop one MP3/WMA sound file for a generated slideshow video.
Yes, it'd be nice if they let you put more than one.
For now, you have two choices:

1. you'll need to use a sound editor to create a single sound track from several MP3/WMVs.
Then, use that sound track in the Picasa movie maker.
http://audacity.sourceforge.net gets you to the download page for "Audacity" - that's a free sound mixer/editor.
I've used that and it can glue multiple sound files together.

2. your second choice is to create several small slideshows - one for each sound clip you have.  That should produce several WMV video clips.  Picasa's movie maker can then create a new video clip based on those small clips.

Hi, Don!  Thanks for the tip regarding Audacity.sourceforge.net.
However, when my system warns that Audacity cannot be identified/verified.
Is there cause for concern because of this?
Thanks, Jason

Audacity is fine. I have it installed on my system and have done for a number of years. No problems!

I am having problems with my music "skipping" once I add it to the movie.  If I use audacity.com, does it help with the skipping?  Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks

Hi --- the Audacity program is just a sound editor and mixer.   It'll give you an MP3 or a WMV or whatever.

At that point, Picasa's "movie maker" feature doesn't really know that you've used Audacity... It just knows you have an MP3 or WMV for your soundtrack.

If the generated video clip has skipping sound, I suspect that's some other issue, and probably not related to Audacity.

And yeah... Audacity is open source and it's been around for many years... I first used it back in 2003... works great.

bshalome - I am having the same issue.  Every video clip to which I add music in Picasa skips.  I searched the forums and didn't see any answers.  I have not used any other program other than Picasa to add the music.  Any thoughts on why this is happening or how to fix it?  BTW, I Picasa is an awesome tool!

Hi Don,
Thank you for introducing us to Audacity....I was able to "join" multiple of songs....however, how can I convert this file to mp3 so I can add it to my Picasa slideshow/movie? I really hope Picasa can do this feature of adding multiple of songs because creating a slideshow and movie is very user friendly. Now, that I'm done with doing the picture editing and creating a multiple song file..I just need to convert the music to mp3 so it will work. Please advise.
Thank you.

I have a question in regards to this. I want to use a small video clip (imported from Youtube) to what could normally just be a slideshow. It wouldn't relaly matter to me where in the movie the clip would be, but I was thinking on the end. I'd also like to have some different songs along with the other slides in the movie. So would run like 132 photos in the movie, plus this actual video clip on the end, or possibly 100 photos, then the video clip, then the rest of the photos (with different audio clips running with the pictures).

You should add the Lame MP3 encoder (a very smal dll-file) to Audacity to be able to export new mp3-files. See the Audacity site for more information.

I too get the stutter upon 'creating movie".  It always works fine in the edit mode however and I have seen many people write in with the same issue, including myself, and everyone seems to still be waiting for an answer.  I run Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1
4 GB memory
Intel Core2 Duo CPU
T5850 @ 2.18 GHz 2.1 GHz
64 bit
NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS video card
SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio audio card
Even tried just adding silence to the beginning using audacity thinking if I could just get by the first 19 seconds without sound it might work, but all it did was cause the stutter to spread throughout the entire movie.
C'mon Google, alot of people are having this issue yet it is not front page news of currently known issues.  WHY???????????????????

I ended up buying an editor (Photodex ProShow) as there were complicated issues with picasa, that, as a free program, i dont see any improvements coming soon.  Other editors can handle the task just fine.  You get what you pay for... or don't... ;)  After much research on this matter with picasa, I have found this to be the best solution for me.  Perhaps windows movie maker will work in your case.  GL Grammy.  Adding music is the easy part, getting it to work right is another.  It would seem the less complex the task is, the better it will handle your project.  Photodex PS is easy to use, but too expensive IMO at over $100 as it lacks in features I would have expected in a professional program, such as text reflection.  It also has rather cartoony transitions.

Save your money. If your mp3 files have the same rate etc. just type in the command line:
copy /b 1.mp3 + 2.mp3 + ...  combine.mp3
You can also try "help copy " on the command line for more info
